  1. :( Separation is hard, and it isn't over for us.. We met in Jan 04, and spent every single moment together until he had to go back to Canada in March 04. I had a fun experience with the airline over a birth certificate issue, so couldn't fly to visit him in June 04 so I jumped the bus to Sweetgrass, MT.. border with Alberta. Anton met me at the border and of course the Canadian's didn't care if I had an unofficial birth certificate, after a few questions they said welcome to Alberta. We were going to originally start me on a Canadian Immigration , but Anton decided it would be easier to come here on a K-1. We were engaged in June 04. I spent two weeks in Alberta and then came home, quit my job, ( it was before that daym Affidvit of Support,} and flew back up to Canada at the end of August 04 I stayed until mid Sept. I loved it up there.

Anton doesn't like the cold, so he drove down here in October 04. We started our K-1 paper work. He could only stay 3 months since he was on a Visa Waiver so he drove back up to Canada, and that's when it really started getting rough. He was denied entry into the US and tried several different ways of coming back like trying for a Visitor's visa, but was denied that.

So, It wasn't until June 05 that I made it back up to visit, cause now I had to go back to work full time being the supporting sponsor. We saw each other 2 weeks.

Then yeah, he got his Visa in July, finished his work up and came down in October 05.

We have been together 8 months, when he got his EAD, he couldn't stand the heat down here and found a job In Flagstaff, about 4 hours North of here, so now we are separated again!!! :( I thought I'd get up

there to visit, but we are trying to get me out of total debit, credit card ,student loan, so I take as much work as I can get, and I havent' seen him in two weeks.

His work schedule got messed up for the 4th of July and they made him work over this weekend. He will be down next weekend, and then I will finally have a weekend to visit him up there.

He also needs to visit his father who is 72 and help him out getting the farm up for the winter in Alberta, so there we go again. I will be working here, and he will be in Alberta for a few months.

Needing $ is a pispoor excuse, but right at this time I can't sacrifice loosing jobs, as since he was here without a job, we accrued some bills.

We do have cell phone minutes now we share so we catch up with each other every night for a few minutes.

And at least he's not permanently away.... There is more hope now with the Green Card that we are able to freely travel to and from Canada, cause as soon as we catch up on the bills we hope to spend half the year in Alberta and half here inTucson. The best of both worlds.

Thanks for letting me have the opportunity to tell my story..

  2. We choose the K-1 route knowing at the time it was easier (LOL) than any other route, and of course as we were going through it, it seemed a tough route to take, especially when Anton was denied entry in Jan 05 at the border. In the long run it all turned out, Anton now has his green card and most of it wasn't too bad in hindsight after reading many other's accounts.

Canada is not to far away like your fiance's country, so it's much easier to visit and cheaper too.

    Good luck and success..

  3. Tell us more? Why did your husband travel three times, and what is hard about using the AP. I know my husband choose to wait for the green card, and at least we didn't have many hold ups with that process, although we almost did, but it got worked through in a considerable amount of time. Now he's going back to Canada next month hopefully with no issues to visit.

  4. Anton enjoyed his first 4th of July in the US last night digging the fireworks... anyway, I got home today from my trip and found a nice 4th of July surprise. His Green Card arrived!

I just want to say thanks to all the great people who are in this big family and help to support each other.

Even though we have two good years not to worry, I want to let you know I will continue offering the support I have to this VJ family...

  5. Nope, I have to work Monday. Crazy workaholic judges. (Seriously, though, it's hard for me to take any time off at all, because I have to hire an outside contractor to cover for me, and there's only three in the whole city who can. And one of them is only available three days a week.)

On the plus side, it's our anniversary this weekend, so we're going to have a big blowout weekend. We're going to go up the tram today, maybe see Superman tonight, dinner tomorrow at the Melting Pot, then the city's big Fourth of July celebration tomorrow. Performers from all of Albuquerque's sister cities (including Sasebo, Japan; Askebat, Turkmenistant; and of course, Alburquerque, Spain), headlined by Linda Ronstadt, including an air show and balloon glow, and of course fireworks.

I just got back from Alamagordo, NM... We had a great fireworks display last night over the Space Museum.

NM knows how to do a fireworks display right. Plus all the local crazies putting off the works... We had a rustic cabin up in Cloudcroft for 3 nights and spent another night in Soccoro, NM. almost to Albuquerque.

  6. Some lucky people get Monday/Tuesday off.... I had to ask for the time way long ago ,but I got it...

Thank God! I am so tired of work garbage.... I am off to a cozy little cabin in Cloudcroft, New Mexico with some friends for 3 nights and Fireworks over Alamagordo Tuesday night.

The only bummer is that 6 were going and now we are down to 4. One guy, plus my hubby bailed out cause they were told after planning for months that they had to work Mon/Weds.

Anyway I am getting out of Dodge Early tomorrow morning.

Have a fun few days. I will miss the VJ excitement and entertainment and will have to catch up when I get back....

  7. How's the weather up there? I am unmotivated here too until about 7 PM at night or early in the morning.

The humidity has gone up and we are getting rain in the evenings, which makes the motivation a little better after the rain.

I had to get motivated to get packed, going to New Mexico with some friends... Hubby can't go he just landed a new job, and he said he has to work Monday... I was so bummed out!!!

good luck with everything, and checking in....

  8. Oh there are plenty of other weird ring tones, mostly techno, ect... the only Tunes are Hallalullah, Oh, Canada, Star Spangled Banner, or Fur De Lis by Beethoven, my provider is Qwest .

Just thought it was interesting to see Oh , Canada on there which I like the tune and think it's an easier anthem to sing then our SSB.

  9. I just got a new upgrade on my cell phone. The phone company called and gave me a free upgrade since my 3 year old phone didn't have 911 GPS tracking.

Anyway, you can either choose the Star Spangled Banner or Oh, Canada as one of your rings.

  10. Saw some pictures in the Newspaper, I need to call my mom back in PA. dad lives near Trenton/Cherry Hill NJ.

They are comparing it to the Hurricane Agnes back in 72. I remember those rains, ran around in it in my swimsuit and had a great time . I had just graduated from Kindergarten.

Wish you could truck some of the flood waters here to the desert.. our rains are trying to start, but it's still really dry!!!!

  11. Thanks for all the congrats, good luck to everyone on yours it will come. The official welcome letter came today in all of it's INS glory. Think I will buy a frame and make a wall of official letters. The green card should come in three weeks which makes it around July 15, almost the same time as last years K-1 approval.

At least in our case the INS was in sync with my birthday and our anniversery dates....

  12. J. K Rowling said two characters will die in the last book and she hinted one might be Harry.

"I have been tempted to kill him off before, but I wanted seven books"

The main reason... " If I kill him off then no one else can write a sequel, and when I am dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character."

She said she wrote the final chapter in 1990. "A price has to be paid, we are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extra's do they? The go for the main characters, and so do I?"

Yeah, like doesn't she know about movies, and books, if Harry is a wizard, and Voldermort brought himself back from the dead than so can Harry.

  13. :lol::dance::P:yes::)(L):luv:

Well Anton and I can join the throngs of approved!!!!!!! We recieved our letter today that he was approved on 6/22 and the letter was dated Monday 6/26. What a nice after birthday present from the US Government. Last year he got his interview letter for the K-1 on my birthday last year when I was visiting him in Alberta.

They already attached the I-751 for the lifting of conditions in two years, and unimpressive xerox that I will have to keep safe until 2008 . Maybe I will have to rent a safe deposit box.

  14. I know when I was a teen the biggest danger was peer pressure trying to fit into a group. My friends drank and smoke, but mom had put the fear of god into me and made me go to a Baptist church all the time, which was another danger , the danger of narrow mindedness. I ran around with other kids whose parents made them go to church so we had our own clique. Most of us didn't want to be at church but we enjoyed the social aspect and goofed around alot during services up in the balcony.

It's sad that kids are left alone alot , especially 12+ since most childcare programs stop providing care for kids after age 12. I mentor a 12 year old, her mom leaves her alone half the day and then I stay with her the last four hours. She's really into stuff, like high class clothes, purses, ect... of course it's her peer group and clique she runs around with.

  15. Well if you are really paranoid maybe USCIS is pretending to be one of us...

I doubt that they read this forum cause they are too busy with 9-5 and then personal life.

They want to go home from their job, unlike us which this is our life.

  16. I hope you are feeling better today. This stress thing is not good, I notice I too have been sometimes getting short of breath when I am thinking too stressfully about things.

There for awhile I was really stressed out too. Like other posters say try to take some calm time for you, listen to nice music, take a walk, clean the apartment, box up some of your things for the move Get your mind off life...

If all else fails have a couple of friends over and drink a bottle of wine. LOL

My house is 30 plus years old, the wiring is a mess, and it's still standing, the landlord is 82 years old so overall the rent is cheap but it's falling apart.

Good luck in your move to the new house.
