It looks like @MrTee12 is a fellow Philadelphia N400 filer who just had the interview and oath done the SAME DAY in July 2020?? If so that's super encouraging!!

I was looking at the link under Ir1/Cr1 Marriage Visa process and a few things have changed.  Here's a screen shot of the current NVC process per ceac:

    IV Fee is $325
    AOS Fee is $120
Once the fees are excepted then it shows "paid" and "incomplete" for the applications.  Then the applications are ready to be filled out and submitted.

When you upload documents, it gives you a pull-down list of categories to assign to the upload.  If they require more documents, they send an email to notify you that you have a message, so you'd go pack to this portal, log in and see "messages".  Be patient while waiting to open message, as it takes a minute or two to appear.

I submitted the most recent tax transcript, which was 2018 since my 2019 taxes hadn't been processed yet.  There was a space for me to add a comment to explain why.

    For the Civil Documents:

There has been a lot of debate about the photos required.  I read that in the Dominican Republic passport type photos are taken at the medical exam for the embassy.  So I submitted a few wedding photos instead.

The process is similar with my husbands minor children who are immigrating with him.  They had their own page like his to pay IV fees and upload documents.  The AOS applies to all three who are immigrating at the same time, so that is only paid once.  The children also had the same documents to upload minus the police certificate because they are both under 16 years old.  I uploaded photos of each child with their father and brother.

    Re-posting from a similar topic: (2011)
It's something that needs to be discussed. More and more married couples are getting divorced because marriage is almost like a business venture/partnership (just more emotional). It takes a lot of hard word and preparation. Before I got married my wife and I decided to take marriage classes with my Pastor and it helped out tremendously. I guess it's up to the individual(s), but I personally believe that God has to be the center/foundation of your marriage because our human nature/fallacies with damage our relationships with others naturally.

On another note, I believe that K1er's need to clearly "communicate" to their significant others how things are in America. My wife at 21 had to leave her family behind (very close knit), her friends, job, and home to live in an entirely new place where many things are foreign. I felt like I had to teach her everything from scratch and its hard work. No one should paint a picture of a "Hollywood lifestyle" and not expect things to go wrong when real life gets in the way.

The points you made about your significant other relying on you is the hardest part. My wife was going crazy for 6 months here "bored" because I was at work all day and she was home "not making any money" or studying. That was our toughest times together, when she felt like she was not contributing. So I can imagine how the "men" feel. Men are used to be the breadwinners and bringing the money in.

K1er's are taking a big risk if things don't work out...but its a risk many are willing to take. If both individuals put their all into the relationship and use the strength they while waiting for the Visa...then they should remember all the hard work they put into and use it to keep them stronger.
    Update: (2013)
2 1/2 yrs later I have no regrets whatsoever; has my marriage been easy... no! However, we have grown stronger through every experience (thanks to the Lord). Communication is everything! Every relationship is different, so don't over do-it by comparing yourself to every relationship/couple. You 2 have to communicate with each other "honestly" what you 2 what to accomplish as a couple. Like a having a honest relationship, children (and how many), career goals, education/school, living arrangements, common beliefs, common interests, etc. At times one of you (especially the petitioner) will be doing mostly everything. The goal is to gradually even everything out, so you don't feel overwhelmed. You have to teach them how to balance things and contribute, Over time, if they are they interested, everything will work out.
My wife and I have had our ups and downs and we remain in-love and focused on making each other happy. My advice is to stay focused on what you 2 what to accomplish as a couple, help each other accomplish those things, keep your circle tight (meaning keep negative people out of your lives), and have faith. Love, sex, passion, dreams are great but they won't pay the bills. Separate the fairytale life you dreamed from reality and plan/practice creating these things for the future.

    After Receiving the NOA2

(The information below is specifically for those acquiring K1 Visas in the Dominican Republic; those who are obtaining Cr1/Ir1 Visas may find “some” of this information useful as well.

CONGRATS ON YOUR PETITION APPROVAL!!! Below are the steps you need to take next. Be ProActive! Don’t wait for anything! Please read the steps below. And don’t forget to BREATHE before reading this, it’s a lot.
K1 Flowchart: Here is a timeline of the K1 Process
    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow
    Dominican Republic Embassy Information
    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Dominican%20Republic&cty=Santo%20Domingo
    *NOA2 Received
After your case is approved it’s sent to the National Visa Center (NVC) where its re-checked and packaged. It’s then forwarded to the Embassy in Santo Domingo. You can now begin gathering evidence for your case and the "required documents" needed for the Interview. The wait time for your Interview is “usually” 2-3 months. The Embassy will then send the beneficiary (Dominican born) a list of K1 Visa INSTRUCTIONS for your upcoming Interview (Cita). Follow them exactly. The instructions on the Embassy’s website are nearly identical to the instructions the beneficiary will receive by mail (inside Packet 4). The link is below:
    K1 Instructions
    http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k1-k2_instructions.html (MOST IMPORTANT!!!!)
Additionally, follow the steps here. Again, it's a lot but, it’s worth it! After your case is forwarded to the Embassy in Santo Domingo most people just wait “unsure” of what’s going on. For you to get valid information just wait 1-2 weeks after receiving your NVC notice and call (toll-free) to the Visa Specialist (Department of State) in Washington D.C. (202-663-1225). Press Option 1 then Option 0 to speak to a visa specialist. (Do not waste your money calling the Embassy or Mexico Hotline number). The Visa Specialist will tell you when your case was mailed to the beneficiary and when your interview (Cita) date is scheduled. Also keep checking the Interview List to see when your interview is scheduled. The interview lists are posted 2 months at a time. Make sure you have Adobe Reader so you can view them. Once you open the file just type in the Case # that was printed on your NVC notice. Ex: NVC Notice (SDO2012...) to find your Interview date. If your date is not listed check the following month’s list.
Interview List (It’s updated the last week of every month).
    http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/scheduled_appointments.html
Your packet (Packet 4) will be mailed by the mail service in Dominican Republic (Inposdom). Which may take forever (or it may never arrive at all). The mailing system in the Dominican Republic is “very bad” and many people never receive their packets. The website below may be of some help. Remember there is no Packet 3, only Packet 4!
    Dominican Republic mailing system (Inposdom):
    http://inposdom.gob.do/
In the meantime (DURING the WAITING PERIOD), just keep calling the Visa Specialist and checking the Interview List. Since some people never receive their packets, you need to be proactive! This is huge problem for many Dominican residents who are in the visa process. You wait and wait and wait for something “so important” to arrive and it may never come. Follow these steps and take care of your business.
#1: Follow the K1 Instructions posted on the Embassy’s website
#2 Keep calling the Visa Specialist
#3 Keep checking the Interview List
If you receive your Interview Date before you receive your Packet 4 and your Interview Date is approaching (2 weeks before interview), you need to call the Embassy and schedule a day to pick up a duplicate Packet 4.
In order to knockout 2 birds with 1 stone, you need to plan wisely. When you go to pick up the duplicate Packet 4 from the Embassy, it is wise to go immediately to the Medical Office (Consultorios De Visa) and get your medical exam done. The medical cannot be done if you do not receive your Medical Appointment Letter that comes inside of Packet 4. The Medical results need to be picked up the day before your interview and taken with you to the Interview the next day.
    *Preparing for Interview:
Follow the K-1 Visa INSTRUCTIONS. Your Dominican born fiancé/fiancée (beneficiary) needs to begin completing the required forms (for specifics, check the Interview Checklist further down).
Since you have at least a couple of months (varies from 1-3 months) before your interview, you can practice filling out the required forms and finalize them later; they are available on VJ and USCIS). Next you want to get the birth certificate (legalized long/extensa version), passport, passport photos, etc. If your partner does not have their Dominican passport yet, read “How to Obtain Dominican passport” below:
    http://www.dr1.com/forums/legal/97423-getting-dominican-passport.html
My fiancée and I did all of these things while waiting. Try not to drive yourself crazy. Just use this time to prepare. In addition, gather all the evidence you will need for your interview (phone records, emails, pics, travel documents, receipts, etc). The last thing my fiancée and I did was update/finalize our forms. She got her police report (30 days before her interview date), reprinted visa forms, and I updated my income/employment documents. NOTE: We decided to type (PDF file) all of our information instead of handwriting, it makes things a lot easier to read. My fiancée went to a local notary and had them type in her information and print.
I had everything done 1 month before the interview but had to get new letters (dates closer to the interview). Remember, some interviews are scheduled much faster than others so you may have less time. U.S. citizens need to bring all documents for the interview with them. If possible, you may need to meet your Dominican-born fiancé/fiancée 1-2 days before the interview to double-check everything before traveling to the Embassy. Hotel accommodations and links are posted below if you plan on staying in a hotel close (and reasonably priced) to the Embassy.
    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Dominican%20Republic&cty=Santo%20Domingo
Finally, during the waiting period, you should also be practice “interviewing” each other. Sample interview questions are posted further down. Make sure you know enough about each other. Names of close family members, first date details, how you first met, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It’s really important both of you have at least one common language that you communicate in. At the interview, they ask you which language you prefer to speak in (English or Spanish). Interview Experiences are also posted further down.
    *The Medical Exam
The beneficiary’s medical exam will be completed by Consultorios De Visa in Santo Domingo (a few miles from the Embassy). The Medical exam must be done at least 5 business days before your scheduled interview. You will need to take with you the following: Dominican passport, your Cedula (national ID), 3 passport pictures, and your Medical Appointment letter. My fiancée was there ALL DAY (7am-5pm). It’s crowded and very busy. Make sure you bring the exact amount in US dollars (prices vary by age/gender) so you avoid any problems. It’s strongly recommended that you get your vaccinations too. For more information, check the links below. Remember results must be picked up the day before the Interview.

http://www.consultoriosdevisa.com/index.html Consultorios De Visa official site (Includes videos)
    Financial Docs: (Affidavits)
Once your NOA2 arrives, you need to complete the affidavit and get a letter from your current employer (stating you have a job with them and you make $$$ a year), also you need a letter from your bank (stating how much money you deposited in the past year), and also 3 months of your most recent pay stubs and last 3 years of tax returns. There are 2 affidavits (I-134 and I-864). The I-134 is very easy to complete and is usually needed for the K1 interview. The I-864 takes longer to complete and more evidence and its usually only needed for AOS but sometimes asked for during the K1 interview. For more information on the Affidavit of Support, see the link below:
    http://www.visajourney.com/content/support
To be safe just do them both and prepare. When your fiancé(e) gets his/ her Interview Packet, it will tell you what forms you need to bring to the interview. For now I would just complete them both and wait until 2 weeks before the interview date to get a letters from your employer and bank.

    Santo Domingo Embassy contact info:
    http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/iv-contact-e.html
*Things to Know on Interview Day:
-The interview line gets crowded pretty fast. People arrive in line as early as 5am. Just be careful and make sure there a policia in sight.
-Both beneficiary and petitioner must be there! (Automatic denial if both are not there)
    -NO electronics are allowed (http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/prohibited_items-e.html)
    - Interview Documents & Evidence can be carried in many different ways (I used plastic seal-able organized folder with labels for each section). Bottom line is BE ORGANIZED. Know were your documents are and have them ready.
-It's best to be prepared because they look for organization and how well you interact with your partner (who must be there).
-Beware of the buscones! They are not Embassy employees and they will rip you off. Ignore them!
-Ask the guard outside what line you need to be in. There are separate lines for each visa-type. Men & women are separated when they enter the Embassy. You will go through metal detectors.
-You will receive a ticket but they are called in “random order.” So your interview time is not really important. Just don’t arrive too late because your number could be called at anytime.
-There are cameras there (and I think they watch how you couples interact with each other) so be aware of that. You may be there anywhere from 3-6 hours.
-Despite the many fans and water fountains, it gets hot in there and a bit uncomfortable (especially the benches). There is a cafeteria where you can buy food and drinks which is good.
-Dress appropriately...Suits for a K1 Visa is probably not necessary and you will may be too hot. I seen people who were very formal and some who look like they were going to a Club. Business-casual or Job-Interview-style is fine.
-Lastly, RELAX! If you’re a “real” couple and you have your things in order you should be fine. Interviews usually last no more than 5 minutes. Unless you’re at WINDOW 11 (Investigations for Fraud). If your case is sent to Administrative Processing, it may take from 6 months-2 years for approval.
-After you’re approved, pay your Domex fee and CELEBRATE! Felicidades!!!

    - Travel & Hotel Expenses = Varies
    *Receiving K-1 Visa (Domex)
After your Visa is approved, you have to pay Domex (counter located inside of Embassy) to deliver your Visa, Passport, and Medical Results to you. To track your Visa you can use Domex’s website: (make sure you know your tracking #)
    http://www.domex.com.do/domexrapido/index.html
Also, NEVER purchase airline tickets for your partner until they have the VISA IN HAND. Once they receive their K-1 Visa from Domex make sure they understand the requirements. They can only use it once to enter the U.S.; and they have 6 months to use it. There will be an expiration date on it. Accompanied with the K-1 Visa is a sealed packet that must not be opened. It will be brought with them to the U.S. and given to the Customs agent once they arrive in the U.S.
Many beneficiaries have to travel to the States alone (unless accompanied with a child) and you meet them at POE. They should be fine going through Customs; just make sure they understand the LAW (you have to get married within 90 days of entering the U.S. then adjust status.) Let your partner know to “tell Custom’s agent” they are “entering on a K-1 Visa.” Make sure they do not lose their I-94 (stapled to passport), they will need this later for their Social Security card, Driver’s License, and AOS.
    *Point of Entry (POE) Reviews:
    http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php
After you are arm-&-arm with your loved one (you better be after all these months of waiting), relax and enjoy each other. Read up on how to obtain your partner’s Social Security Card and begin planning your marriage/wedding. Read up on State laws for Marriage Licenses. After you are legally married, you can immediately file for Adjustment of Status (AOS).
Note: K-1ers cannot legally work, go to school, or travel outside the U.S. until they receive legal documents (Work Authorization Card, Travel Documents and/or Green Card) through the Adjustment of Status process.
How to K1ers Get a Social Security Card:
This can be troublesome for some. Make sure you follow the link below. Around 7-10 days after arriving in the U.S. the K1ers status should be stored in the system. If you go too early, the Social Security office may not have your records. Since you are not married yet, your fiancée will have to get their Social Security card in their birth name. They can change it only after they get married and your have you marriage certificate. Make sure they bring the following documents (K1 Visa, passport, I-94, 2 proofs of address, SS-5 form).
    http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn
Hope this helped. Have a great journey!

It’s crowded and very busy. Make sure you bring the exact amount in US dollars (prices vary by age/gender) so you avoid any problems. It’s strongly recommended that you get your vaccinations too. For more information, check the links below. Remember results must be picked up the day before the Interview.

Note: If you are suspected of Visa Fraud, the questioning with be very, very personal and INTENSE! Dominican Republic is a High-Visa Fraud country, so be truthful!
    Santo Domingo Embassy contact info:

Hope this helped. Have a great journey!

That seems unusual since I'm not sure what photo they will use on the actual visa... Edit: except maybe the DS-160 photo. That's my guess, but please check with the embassy. The expiration date of the visa will be printed on the visa. It will be 6 months from the medical or the interview, whichever came sooner (usually the medical). The daughter can utilize follow to join for up to 1 year. DR laws will determine if the child can be taken abroad without the mother's consent. Generally, consent of all legal guardians is necessary. Partial custody is still custody, so my assumption would be she would need to provide consent. Once he enters on the K-1 and marries, he can file for AOS + AP + EAD. AP and EAD are each taking about 3-4 months currently. AP will allow him to leave the country without abandoning AOS, and then return. No entry at the US border is guaranteed except for USCs, but barring a reason to deny entry, he should be fine using AP.

    1) Not sure about the passport photos.

    2) He has 6 months to enter the US. Check the visa for the end date. He won't be able to work immediately when he arrives before receiving an EAD so lining up of jobs is a bit too early.

    3) Not sure about custody either. But a child can't be petitioned what more moved without the proper custody documentation.

    4) He can only travel out of the US with an AP after entering with a K-1 so in this case, it depends how soon he is issued a combo EAD + AP card. He will be considered abandoning his AOS if he travels without an AP.

After your marriage, he'll need to file for AOS + EAD + AP. AOS currently costs $1140 + $85 biometrics fee and EAD + AP will be free if filed concurently with the AOS.

MrTee12 reacted to KamilSoledad in K1 Visa: Glad I ended it before marriage.
We just didnt work out. I think this is a good place to just "let it all hang out."

Worked hard to get a Visa, we got one 1/13/17, he was here for 2 weeks and we mutually agreed that the relationship wouldn't work out. I sent him back to the DR yesterday. Background: We met 5 years ago while I was on vacation. Stayed in touch on FB here and there over the course of 4 years, but nothing serious. Nov 2015 decided to give a relationship a chance. Over the course of a year visited 7 times. Met his family numerous of occasions. He met my mom and aunt. 9 months into the relationship, he proposed.

    Fast forward to present day:
He seemed miserable every day when I came home. Prob a mix of being depressed/nostalgic/bored.
Didn't realize how much of a poor communicator and introverted he was until we lived together.
He was ULTRA sensitive - something I picked up on before when we were in the DR but seemed to get better. Easily offended. Only his emotions mattered. Frequently played the victim and left me feeling like I committed some kind of crime. My other friend said, "Some Dominican men are that way." Obviously you cant stereotype an entire group of people that way, but this isnt the first time Ive heard this. 2 sensitive people, where only 1 is willing to change is a recipe for disaster.

He is a true Cancer. He withdraws into his shell when he is feeling offended - which seems to be ALL the time. I had to walk on egg shells around him to make sure I didnt say one word that might be misinterpreted ....and then we argue and the entire rest of the day is ruined. Literally, I would be nervous to mention my own feelings of how something made me upset/angry/sad because I knew somehow things would turn and the entire conversation would be refocused on him and how HE feels. Frequently, I found myself thinking, "wait - isn't this suppose to be about MY ISSUE that I wanted to address?"

I also made it VERY clear to him before we arrived to the US that I am nobody's fool, meaning, if he was just looking for an easy girl  - that was not me. I would not be delivering any and everything on a silver platter to him. Frequently, in my opinion, women do whatever JUST to keep a man. He was already aware from the very beginning that I would not be spending excessive amounts of money on him, sending his family money, etc. I would provide the things he needed, but not everything he wanted. He was aware that with him being here - I am now paying food for 2, lights for 2, water for 2, etc. Once he started working, then he could do all of those things. The best example I can give you is that, he wanted his own cell phone. I never made it so that he could not speak to his family. I offered my phone to him every day - which has long distance DR calling on it - when I got off work. I also offered to leave my phone with him during the day (one time I did and he never touched it). Mind you- he has Wifi at home  so he had access to Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, Gmail, etc. ALL "FREE". But he wanted his OWN Cell phone that accepted a chip/sim card. Mind you: I have two old smart phones that he easily couldve used, but he was persistent about one that accepted a SIM card and he wanted his OWN sim card (not the one that came with my old phone). My bleeding heart went to Metro PCS and found a very cheap unlocked phone that accepted his DR chip/SIM. The catastrophe struck when I tried adding it as an additional line to my current data plan. The phone was incompatible, thus, logically, I figured let's just take the phone back and use one of the 2 that we already knew was compatible. He was hesitant at the thought of this. I asked him, well what is the big deal about having your own Sim card? He then became very irritated with me and then I became suspicious. My thoughts are this: when you are in a tight financial spot, you can't be choosey. You should accept the other person's generosity and then once your financial status improves, then you can splurge a bit.

Despite all of the sources of communication at his fingertips Interestingly, he never logged into facebook from my computer. My suspicion was that he had stuff on FB he did not want me to see - which brings me back to a time where I asked him for his FB password and would not give it to me. He was very adamant about that despite him knowing my cellphone password (which has access to all my whatsapp and FB info). I went into the history on the desktop computer while he was here and I saw where he was looking up people from his FB profile (through my account - since he never logged into his own) - women included. His persistence on having his own cell phone when he had so many resources available to him, was awfully suspicious to me. I think he was under the impression that I would cater to his every need and beckon to his every call - but Im not that type of woman and he was already aware of this. So he should've not been surprised.

Never from the beginning did I suspect he was only after a Visa. He never mentioned a Visa the entire time we dated. When he mutually agreed to go back to his country - in some way, for me, it confirmed it. He does have a friend here on a VIsa who married 2 yrs ago- but come to find out they are on their way to a divorce. His friend's wife (the petitioner) told me he was "expensive, immature and never sought out work." I did not want this type of friend to rub off on him...but in retropsect, I wonder if this friend influenced him to propose, which of course leads to a visa. I can only wonder. I do know for a fact that he wanted to work and infrequently did he ask me for things throughout the relationship.

I've alerted the NVC via email. I believe I would need to alert USCIS by letter too, correct?
Feel free to share your stories, comments on similar patters you've seen from my situation, etc.

I think it's pretty sad that after 5 years of history that it ended like this. So 2 days ago, the whole wanting a cell phone thing happened which soured an actually really good day for us. This led into yesterday - the day I sent him home. Yesterday, I took the MetroPCS phone I bought him and returned it for a refund and I left the desk top computer open which I had pulled up all of the FB women he had been looking up from the computer's history. So when he woke up he would see all of this...

I really had to sit down and reflect. I went to church yesterday (alone unfortunately) and instead of going to Sunday school, I went to the Prayer room so that I could wrap my head around all of this mess. The two things I prayed for: Clarity and Discernment. After reflecting on all that happened over the past few days and throughout the relationship, the Lord told me that HE HAS GOT TO GO! I think I already knew that, but some times you need to really find a moment of solitude and understand that you can't MAKE something work out that isn't going to work out. The fact that we had 5 years under out belt could NOT be a distracting factor. There's never been a time where I trusted God and he let me down. So needless to say this was a decision I new I had to make, but not necessarily an easy one. Before even talking to my ex, I purchased the ticket, and felt good about it. After church I received a msg on my phone from him asking me if he could go back to his country. Needless to say the feelings were mutual bc at this point he didnt even know I had purchased the ticket, BUT Im sure when he realized I returned the cell phone and found out about the FB search of girls that was certainly a catalyst.

So.....I dropped him off at the airport. Gave him a hug and wished him well. After I dropped him off and got in the care I boo hoo'd like a baby because, this is someone that I loved and lost. Anyway, I did not hold his hand, babying him and walk into the airport with him etc, but because I am a descent human being and realize he does not speak english...I printed off his boarding passes, highlighting his seat number and gate numbers. I also made sure he only had 2 bags so that he didnt have to check anything in. I still treated him like a friend despite how ugly acting he had been. Well, I never heard anything from him when he arrived in the DR, of course I was worried ....thinking maybe he didnt make his connecting flight ,etc. so this morning I called his sister to see if he had made it there safely and she put him on the phone.....the tone of his voice I would've thought would've been that since he had so much time to contemplate everything - a bit nicer. Since he's an emotional being I figured, just like me, he may have shed a few tears......Well, I was wrong (about the tone of the voice, but pretty certain he shed some tears).  When he picked up the phone I said, "I just wanted to make sure you made it there safe." He replied, (very irritated) I made it here safe, but we had to pay for the extra luggage." Then he hung up the phone. He was so rude. So, apparently the plane mustve been full so they took his 2nd piece of luggage or something. But the fact that he was still angry about me returning that metro pcs cell phone and the fact that I didnt give him extra money for an unforseen circumstance just really blew my mind and also CONFIRMED that I did the right thing by letting him go. It didnt matter that I coughed up $200 to buy an airplane ticket home, but the fact that he had to pay $25 for luggage was what he focused on more. I treated him as a friend, but he is still caught up in his web of emotions and did not see the decency in treating me the same. Not very proud of this, but as a Scorpio we have the tendency to cut ties quick if the same respect and loyalty is not reciprocated. One of the traits I am very proud of is my loyalty. I would go to the ends of the earths for someone I love, but I cannot deal with one-sided friends or relationships. I want you to know this man I loved, is not a monster, but we all have character flaws and my goal is not to bad-mouth him.

I feel like I can refocus my energy on me now. Get my thoughts organized, my zumba plan back on tract, my spiritual life, my diet/work, etc.

Everything is still very fresh for me guys. I know this was a super long post, but like I said - I think this is the place to let it all hang out.

Women and men: respect yourself. Every day when I came home and he seemed so depressed/miserable, it rubbed off on me and my own happiness seemed to be depleting. Being a generally happy person this was a big deal. We each are responsible for our own happiness. Secondly, I feel relieved. This is  A LOT of financial burden lifted off of me. Because I loved him, I would've made it work if he would've stood up to the plate. Things sure do happen for a reason.

I hope there was something here that was beneficial to you. Or in return something you can add that would clarify/benefit me - I am open to that even if it is brutally honest. I am a transparent person so beating around the bush isn't my style anyway.

Writing this post, in a sense has been therapeutic. Have a good day!

We're in Philadelphia, my fiance had no problem getting hers. We waited like 10-14 days after her POE and we went to the SSA office early in the morning and filed. They asked us for her Passport (w/K-1 visa inside) and I-94. We were done 10 minutes and she received it the mail in 3-5 days.
It sucks that people are having problems. I followed the guide here and everything worked out. I wish you guys the best.

My fiancé also went today to get his medical done and he told me the same thing! He had everything together and organized, including 4 2x2 passport style pictures for the medical exam (even though they only requested 3). However, once we got to Consultorios de Visa, he was told he need to go outside and take the 2x2 pictures again because he needed 6 photographs and they all needed to be the same. So he had to leave and pay 400 pesos to take the pictures over again and then take them back and get his medical done! Other than that, everything else went smoothly and just as expected! Good luck everyone!

MrTee12 reacted to jack1564 in so i did my medical yesterday in santo domingo
so i wanted to share with you guys how everything went at the consultorios de visa here in DR :
first of all the traffic is crazy in santo domingo around 8/9 am! so plan your travel with that in mind
at arriving there you are scanned by security and asked to turn off your phone and place it in a locker if you have any then you are given a little bag where you will place little bottoms which represents the test you have already done.
you also have to sign your 3 2x2 photos in the back with your first name and last name...and this is where the fun Begins .....
there is a huge section where you make a line* to pay for your test and it was CROWDED !!!! the staff professionally instruct you where to be and what to do at that point so listen to them carefully so you don't get confuse with all thats going on there !!
after like 3 hours or so you get to the cashier where you pay for your medical and you are asked if you are going to be doing the vaccines too, they inform you how much all is and they asked some question while they check your passport, the pics and the letter from the embassy, after that you go to the back of the place where there is another section where the consultorios are...
you can go to door 1 directly where they will perform the xrays then to door 2 to do the blood sample, after that you need to wait to be called to do the physical check and while everything is in order be on the lookout of the people who were before you on the line, if you see they are been called pay attention because you are next and if you are not call you can approach a staff guy/woman in a desk in that area and tell him what test you just did so he can put you back in the loop, im saying this because there is a lot going on ! children playing or crying, people walking up and down and its kind of confusing a bit
after the physical test you are called to do the vaccines if you are taking them and then you can go but there are other test for children but i dont know anything after the vaccination test
i hope this help someone who are going to do this to have a idea what happens in there, the staff is very professional and informative so ask if you have questions and btw eat something and wear something light since its kind of hot !
also they put a sticker on the back of the passport indicating the day where you should pick up the results so you can take them UNOPENED to your interview

I'm not sure about mail, you would have to contact them directly to find out. You're in Pennsylvania, I think you're closest consulate may be in NY. According to the link I will post below, he needs an acta de nacimiento legalizada and his cedula.
He definitely doesn't have to go to DR to get a birth certificate, he can get one from the consulate and they should be able to legalize it. I know the consulate here in NYC has the JCE and you can get birth, marriage, divorce records. Last time I heard though they were closed so you would want to contact them to see if they are still open.
In the event that he is unable to get it from the consulate, he still doesn't have to go to DR. Records in the DR are public and basically anyone can request them. When I needed my birth certificate for my citizenship, I gave my aunt the libro, folio, and acta no and the oficialia where I was registered and she sent my cousin to get it for me and had it shipped. I sent her the money via La Nacional so that she could get the certificate and ship it back.
Again you want to find out with the consulate what they need and whether you are able to obtain these docs in the US or have to have someone in DR send them to you. Also I think the price is $135 for same day passport and I'm not sure if $60 for 3 day pickup. Good luck.

Everyone just try to keep your spirits up. This process is a long one, but it's well worth it. Understand that Processing Times change all the time. For ex: From NOA1 to Interview Date (Cita) used to be 5-6 months total. Still, I have seen it around 8-9 months as well.
Sometimes Service Centers get backed up. There are many factors (we) cannot control. The best thing you can do is focus on maintaining a HEALTHY, LOVING, AND ACTIVE RELATIONSHIP with your long-distance partner and prepare for your Interview. I know it's easier said then done, but this is part of the process in bringing you two together (hopefully forever). Once they arrive, you you get married, a whole new process begins with USCIS, outside of learning how to live together, one partner working more then the other, balancing life, goals, etc.
My advice would be to STAY ENCOURAGED. Your time will come. And if all else fails, come back here and vent as much as you need to. We'll back you up.

    Congrats on your approval
The first thing I would like to say is that you need to contact the embassy ASAP because you need certain letters from there for the medical and this needs to be done at least 5 business days before the interview. Im not sure if they respond quickly to emails.
Also the information you have provided is incorrect, the visa fee that you have stated are very old and they have recently changed the fees. For the banco popular I believe its 160 or something like that (someone correct me if I am wrong) and for the consulate visa fee I have recently read it was about 105. (again I am not sure about the exact number) but the ones that you have are incorrect.
You need 5 passport styles photos in total. 3 for the medical and 2 for the interview
For the letter of intent you basically have to provide the same letter of intent that you provided with your 129 packet but signed with a date close to the interview. It is a good idea to have this, even if they won't ask for it. but you never know.
as for the forms that you need to fill out, if this is for k-1, those forms are not needed anymore. the DS-160 have replaced many of those. Quoted from http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html
All visa applicants under the following categories (K1-K2, K3 and K4) must complete, electronically, the form DS-160 (on line Non-Immigrant Visa Application).

The DS-160 plus the form DS-156K are the only forms that you need to fill out for the visa interview if your are applying under the following categories: K-1, K-2, K-3 and K-4. These forms replace previous forms such as the DS-230, DS-156 and DS-157.

As soon as you complete the form DS-160, on-line, you will have to print out the confirmation page, which contains a bar code, and present this sheet on the day of the interview. It is not necessary to print out the entire application.
I actually just completed that form last night for my fiancé. Please use the website above to get the information correct.
The what to do aftr NOA2 is not outdated. The information here is updated very frequently and this page is the best thing ever and has helped me so much with my journey. Please follow all of the instructions here.
    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Dominican_Republic:_After_Receiving_the_NOA2

You as the petitioner, need these documents.
    - I-134- Affidavit of Support (financial responsibility)
    - Tax returns for (Last 3 years)
    - Letter from Employer
    - Recent pay stubs (last 3 months - 6 total)
    - Bank account information
    - Birth Certificate
    - Passport
    - Letter of Intent (dated and signed)

you might want to have all of these, but i don't think you need a letter of employer if you have ur recent pay stubs. The same for bank account information. This is necessary if yu have valuable assets and stuff.

Good Luck with the rest of your journey, I hope you get packet 4 very soon.

    Yes, what Stefani recommended.
Check this link from the US Embassy in DR, http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k1-k2_instructions.html it has the same instructions that the beneficiary will get in the mail.
The police report, certificado de Buena conducta expires in 30 days, so make sure it is not due before or around the day of the interview.
The DS-160 online, you need a digital copy of the 2x2 photos that you need to upload to complete that form. And yes, the 156K form has to be signed in front of the CO.
You said you have an email copy? what email? I got my packet IV via email and its the same as the one you will get by Dominican postal service, I used that one for the medical exam at the consultorios de visa and for the bank. The Consultorios de visa recommend to do the medical 15 days before the day of the interview. Does the beneficiary has the actual interview letter?? it says the day and hour of the interview.
The petioner has to fill out form I-134, and need to have on hand the W2, IRS, bank statements, etc (read the I-134 instructions), check the Visajourney's guides tab. Also more evidence since the application date to closer to the interview. Just in case.
If you do not have the packet IV, either by email or Dominican postal service, call the US Embassy first thing Monday morning, and explain that you have a interview date but no packet IV.
    Anything else ask us
