You can enter to the US from any US port of entry and have your visa validated. You can come in and go back the next mins but be aware of the fact that there is a certain number of months that you can stay outside the United states as a Permanent resident, my advice is not to stay beyond 6 months and hopefully the property would have been sold within the 6 months. I just got my wife a Nigeria visa, really painless. We sent it off on Monday and got it back on Wednesday and I didnt expedite it and didnt use any visa travel agent either. Went on their website and follow the instructions. The following was what I did. Wrote a letter of invitation, stating the reason which is to attend my mother's funeral ceremony, Paid $160 for the visa fee, money order for $30 representing consular fee, return stamped envelop, one 1 passport pic size of her,her US passport, Itenerary, copy of my passport bio data page and a copy of my green card and that was it. If I were you I will still go with all the evidence of an on going relationship. I recently read about a couple that had a 2nd interview at the same embassy and were told the same thing but they still denied the visa. It may be a good sign that they asked him to come only with the passport but dont take any chances since it wont hurt by you going over there with the docs. All the best.

Happy to help.He should simply give them your current address at the POE.A whole lot of things is determined at the POE, so no big deal.If the SSN didnt show up at your home address after 2weeks of his arrival, you guys should go to the nearest Social security office to apply for one.The greencard will automatically come to the address he gives at POE.I hope it helps.Best of Luck!

Also you have to file an affidavit of support which requires a job in the US unless you have significant assets.
