No in Canada both partners are not required or even hinted at to show up. And no most of Candian Vj'ers do not have the USA citizen residing with them in Canada. If she has maintained residence in the USA, it should not be too hard to prove, if they do ask

The USA system is set up to fail!! Neither party wants the other party to do well--and benefit from it! No consequences for the politicians as majority are very wealthy and still getting paid!

These politicians need to get their head out of their butts!! Of course they still get paid..and most are wealthy to begin with---so it doesn't really affect them.

In that case, I would just say, listen I have talked to my lawyer, and I know there is no way you can garnish my wages, and I have no plans to ever moving back to Canada, so if you want your money back, your going to have to come up with some sort of repayment plan that is in the best interest for the both of us. If you can't do this, let me talk to your supervisor! best of luck

One can NOT phone and get any info about the SSN! one has to goto the office. Wait at least 10-14 BUSINESS days, then follow the steps I provided in an earlier post. Usually the green card takes 4-6 weeks. There was a time last yr where it was taking longer. And yes some do get it faster, all depends how fast that POE sent away your stuff.

One has to be actively looking for a job while on EI.....EI Canada can contact you and ask for list of the places you have applied to. And if you find an acceptable job and it is offered to you, I do believe you have to accept it. If the EI folks were to find out you turned down an acceptable job offer, I do believe they can terminate your EI.

Just to clarify---when u the package back----ur NOT going to have the actual Greencard----What you will have is the I-551 stamp in your Cdn passport. When you enter the POE, it gets endorsed, and then acts as your greencard, and is valid for 1 year-----and of course ur actual greencard should arrive well in advance of that. But that part of the process has changed since 2004 when I went through it, so I cant comment. cheers

No hatred, just very poor forum etiquette to keep posting the same question in multiple posts when you have already started your very own thread. If you want a better answer----phone the POE that you will be traveling through and ask them. It really does not matter what we say.

As a Cdn citizen---you have NO legal right to enter the USA. When you enter the USA at the border or airport--the POE officer makes his decision to allow you to enter right on the spot.......It is not like that for others. For example, Nicaraguans make an appt here at the USA embassy in Managua, pay a fee to do so and they may or may not get a visitors visa. If denied, they are still out that fee which is around $160 usd or so.
As a Visitor to the USA, which you would be, can not bring all your belongings down and store it in the USA. Could you show up at the border with ur uhaul truck and gain entry?? Very slim chance, but probably not. I guess your brother if he is an american citizen could try and say it is his, but he would by lying and may have to pay duty on it!

Yes there are people that do it and have been getting away with it. I know a few years back BC was well aware of this (was in a CBC article) and it was costing the province many many millions of $$$$ each year. Not sure what they have done (if anything) to stop and remedy this type of fraud.

Not it in this case--AP means Additional processing, which is not a good thing! As you would have to provide them with additional evidence, and once they are happy, then theywould issue the visa. And as your well aware, things tend to be a bit slow,, so its not as if they get the new evidence on Monday and issue the visa a few days later!!

My 2 cents are down below in my signature. Yes you hear about people being barred, having huge hassles---Why?? Good chance they were LYING, or not quite telling the truth! and yes sometimes one does run into an in-experienced border guard! Very simple--TELL THE TRUTH!!! Many of us, including me, visited the USA a lot during the process. Treat the POE officer with respect, good chance he/she will do the same, and the onus is on YOU to provide the proof of ties that you will be returning. I always had them with me, never had to produce them. Best of luck
