No! It is not 'normal' for an american man to act the way you describe! He is a bully and you are just seeing the tip of the iceberg now. Once you are married it will undoubtedly get worse. Marriage never fixes this kind of problem. How could a man treat you this way if he loves you? I am sorry but this does not sound like a good situation for you at all! You must ask yourself if there is any way that what you get from this relationship can make it worth it to be treated this way. Most american men treat their wives/girl-friends much better than this! You can do better!

I've been on spring break and the accounts I've read so far sound just like it. It figures this is all so awesome to you guys given how you've never experienced anything in this country. Gary has never even been clubbing in the U.S. so no wonder he is so enamored of clubs in the Ukraine. He doesn't know any better. As for you, you've probably never even been to college so obviously the spring break experience passed you right by. I am actually happy for you that you both have experienced what your fellow Americans have also experienced, albeit much later in life. Better late than never.

OP, hang in there, looking like your wait is almost over. Once approved, you guys will be bombarded by a whole new set of issues and tasks that will make the wait seem smaller than it is now --- as it has for so many others who have gone through the process.
I find it amazing that some feel it is their place to accuse another for their feelings…
And those who have forgotten how it felt during their time spent in the waiting game…
Or those who have blessed themselves as experts on what exactly occurs behind the walls of USCIS…
And those who spend their time lambasting another for their opinions when they themselves are clueless…
Or those who just want to feel like somebody by belittling another who has expressed their frustration.
There are some really helpful folks in this community who have some great advice and meaningful opinions… and then there are others who think they are immigration pros behind a keyboard dishing out narrow minded, misguided opinions and thinking everyone should think like them… after all, they filed and eventually got approved.

Ok, I'm sick and tired of being nice to you, especially since you continue to spread false information.
    SHUT UP!
Contacting your Congress officials DOES NOT DELAY YOUR CASE PERIOD. Senators and Congressman don't even have a clue about your case as STAFFERS trained in dealing with Federal Agencies handle it, as it is THEIR JOB.
I contacted my Congress officials right after I hit 5 months, who are there to represent ME the US Citizen. Do I regret it? No. I waited my 5 months, you waited 3 months and 10 days. Get off your high horse.

Are u serious? The fact that he takes the job doesnt make him love her any less, Immigration is very unpredictable why should he sit around and wait on the process to be complete. Waiting is hard, if he has a job it will occupy his mind and his time, and he'll be earning a living at the same time. He should take the job

Please, enlighten us newbs who know little about Russia and her history. (I don't mean searching wikipedia for links)

According to some posts Why_Me learned so much about Russia during his visits (or a visit?) that now he knows a lot more information about Russian history, traditions and current affairs than I do. But I'm willing to learn

You need only read some of my previous posts to answer your question, I'm not going to keep repeating myself. There is a search function, use it.
And this is the last time I'm saying this. If you think I'm not who I say I am, that is your problem, not mine. I have tried to handle this privately with you, I have been a polite, constructive member of this forum, and have in no way earned the kind of abuse you keep hurling at me. Your behavior is abusive and borderline stalking. So deal with your problem, but deal with it off the forum so that every single topic doesn't degenerate into a flame-war. If you simply cannot control yourself, there is an ignore user function, I suggest you use it.
I am done with this line of discussion.

By the way, I have absolutely NO sympathy for your situation. You just met your lady, you flew through USCIS, and now you might have to wait an additional week or two? The vast majority of us had to endure 5, 6 even 7 months or more through the agony of waiting for our petitons to be approved. You waited 3 weeks! Please don't contact your representative. Do everyone who DESERVES their attention and assistance a favor and wait it out like you're supposed to. You have not been treated unfairly in this process. Quite the contrary, you have been treated exceptionally well. You should be thankful.

Reading together is a great idea. We are reading our 3rd book together in English (but first via Skype), Crime and Punishment. It feeds both of our interests in reading while providing a chance for her to practice her English (and me to correct her). These long waits are an excellent time for non-native speakers to practice, practice, practice the language.
