Just stalked your timeline. You became resident the same year as me.  You can apply it alone without any issue.

No, that's fine. A trip abroad of 3 weeks won't break continuous residence or violate the physical presence requirements. Trips in excess of 6 months (all at once or multiple in a year) may do so. The IO makes the final call, but the odds are generally stacked against you as there is a legal presumption of having broken continuous residence.

Um, because one of the requirements of keeping a green card is to be resident in the US? Sure live wherever you want, but you can’t expect to keep your green card then.

So, unless someone died and made you king/queen of the VJers, don't try to 'morally police' me or any other member on here for posting on a public forum. There are moderators who can advise us if we have gone astray of the actual question asked.....which no member HAS gone astray but simply offered advice and future possibilities.

    1. Assuming your divorce was filed in Idaho, you should try to get a copy of your full divorce decree. Start with the state's department of records to make the request.
    2. You don't have to delay submitting the online N400 as you wait for the divorce decree. You can upload that later. We uploaded doc's later after we submitted our N400.
    3. We submitted separate files/documents. We didn't attempt to combine different documents into a single file. The online application shows all the files uploaded separately. It's a little more orderly this way.

    Good luck.

I glanced briefly at the other thread, but you shouldn't let it get you down. It's only ONE thread, I've seen you give excellent advice in others. And what happened to your fpatience, hmm? I mean, your user name is Lotofpatience, right? So -loto = fpatience (ha.ha.)
Like other posters have said, nobody's perfect. Can't expect everyone to agree with you, right? I mean, misunderstandings happen all the time, right?
Well, whatever happens, good luck with your process, and come back soon!

I like your post, but I think it's more difficult within families, because they think they KNOW each other down to the very last hair on their head (or legs, depending. ). At least with strangers, there aren't any expectations. Like a Christian family expecting their children to be upstanding Christian kids and subsequently, adults (personal experience). You don't expect almost ANYTHING from a stranger.
Also, another problem. Trying to deal with bigotry and narrow-mindedness with peace and understanding is like trying to "catch a wave upon the sand". I mean, where do you think the term "you can lead a horse to water..." comes from? My mother-in-law (a "flaming liberal", according to her nephew) told me once that close/narrow-minded people are extremely difficult to deal with, after I had severed ties with a couple that had poisoned my self-worth to make themselves feel better (not the whole story). She also said that people like that think, "I've already made up my mind, don't bother me with the facts."
Unfortunately, as much as we want common understanding, faith and reason are not antonyms.

It doesn't matter - but that "call to prayer" comment and the imagery that accompanied it suggests that the proposed mosque amounts to some sort of "Izlamising of the WTC area" when it is in fact going to be a tasteful modern building in keeping with the character of the surrounding area.
    In essence:
People don't understand that there is and has-been a sizeable muslim population in NYC for years, and that they are integrated into the fabric of life there. It's not some sort of jarring area where you turn a corner and suddenly you're in Iran.

What does it matter if there is? Calling devout muslims to prayer is not an act of terrorism or even something one could rationally associate with terrorism. Only with the belief that the muslim religion is somehow responsible for terrorists and terrorism could that have any justification as symbolic of something dreadful.

Meghan, I really hope you find acceptance with your family, as I have with mine (for different reasons, which I will explain in a little bit...)
Zaytoona, I just read your story and it was well... heartwarmingly hilarious (is that even possible?). Hehehe.
My story isn't really about religion or Islam, but it has similar tones. Both my parents are super traditional Chinese parents that were brought up Christian, and are very staunch Christians now that they're in their later years. Of course, I was brought up a Christian as well, and as much as I love my Christ, I'm not very... attached to the label of "Christian" (read: Westboro Baptist Church, and those of the Church of Jesus Christ-Christian; you'll see what I mean).
My mother ALWAYS told me to marry a "good Chinese Christian boy", but the guys I dated were... not my type. So she said she MAY compromise if I find someone that she can like. Because you know... marrying someone is like marrying their family (right? Right....?)
And then I met my husband... He was (and still is) a great guy despite his long, smooth, curly locks (I'm jealous, can you tell?) and scruffy almost-unkempt beard... My mother didn't like him at first because he was Caucasian (remember that my parents are super traditional) and he had long hair and a beard, but after a while, warmed up to him. We even had a hilarious conversation at his expense that would not sound right in any other English accent except Singlish.
So I told her, "Well... he's not Chinese and he's not really Christian (brought up Lutheran, does not practice any longer), but even so, would a Caucasian guy who looks like Jesus an okay compromise? Oh, and he proposed." She looked at me like I just stabbed her in the eye, then laughed.
    Phew!

Maybe I'm overly sensitive today, but it actually kind of angers me that people want to go through this process but get around the requirements. Meanwhile, the rest of us with valid, legitimate relationships work incredibly hard to get all our evidence together, get all our paperwork completed, spend the days and months waiting, but knowing we are doing things the proper legal, way.
You do not have a relationship. Not one that you can prove, and yet you want the same privileges as the rest of us? Not going to happen.

How much money do you have? ALL of it.
Once the paperwork is complete and all the fees paid and all the government hacks are staisfied...you will have a new wife that needs to replace all the things she left behind, your utilities will double, your food bills will double (at least) and every dollar you make will be consumed by the family. Welcome to life in the USA.
Be happy. When you are HAPPY using all your money for your family, you will always be happy.
The fees for the K-1 and the AOS and the Removal of Conditions and the Citizenship and the education, drivers license, medical expenses, insurance....ALL of it, is but a tiny down payment on a life of bliss. Enjoy it every day! It conitnues for decades, children multiply expenses many fold, then they have children. It will end when you die.
Between now and then, enjoy every moment. When the most enjoyable thing you vcan do with your money is to buy your son a new pair of "cool shoes" you will have arrived in everlasting happiness.

I guess asking a question means it is ignored like the advise you have already been given. You have so far ignored the rules for filing a petition, ignored the requirements for a petitionable relationship, ignored what we have offered, ignored the question I presented in response to you request for a question about facts. You can ignore us all you want. But ignoring the rules and requirements is just causing you to throw your money out the door. I hope the fantasy togetherness is good enough for you ,because your refusal to work in the rule and regulations is going to make it so that phone sex is all you are ever going to have. Personally I think we have all wasted too much time trying to show an extremely reality challenged person where the issues are. When you really want to know come and back, until then enjoy your pretend sleeping together , it is all you are elgible for.
