  1. I'm really sorry, but I disagree with spotless definition, as you mentioned: Your case is NOT squeaky clean in my opinion. At the same time, would you be detained or deported or denied citizenship? Probably not, these are not issues that result in denial of citizenship typically. Most likely, you'll naturalize just fine. Good luck!
  2. Hi, the kids, just like you, are permanent residents and not K-1 / K-2 anymore as far as I can tell from your message. When it comes to visas for Bahamas, this is what I found: "For visits NOT exceeding 30 days: An original Alien Registration Card (Green Card) A national passport (passport from country of birth), valid for at least six months at the time of entry" I'd still confirm with cruise line whether visa is needed or not. If you're not entering Bahamas, I don't see the need for visa, but this is not an immigration advice. As for your discrepancy between name in passport and on GC, carry certified copy of marriage certificate.
  3. Sadly adjustment of status has a lot of drawbacks. Whenever people ask whether to do AOS or consular, most of the time I recommend consular unless somebody is on work visa and has income in the US, for example. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, are applying for EADs every year. Hence the delay.
  4. GE yes, GE card probably no. At least from my experience and what I know based on FAQ
  5. Did you file for EAD for the child? Typically this is what needed to get SSN after AOS forms are filed.
  6. Thanks for the report! I personally think one should have a realisitic expectation. If it says up to 24 months, one should prepare for 24 months VS being dissapointed and worried if card doesn't arrive within a year. With USCIS it's hard to know. For example, my I-751 took 20.5 months instead of 7 months according to processing times when I filed. If I was too hopeful for 7 months processing, it would have made my wait a lot harder....
  7. AFAIK, only LPRs and citizens can get GE card, even if a foreign national like UK citizen can get GE on work visa. That's why I was asking about when you got GE whether you were LPR or not. Thanks for the update!
  8. Interesting, is this covered in their FAQ? Or how did you learn it?
  9. When you applied for GE, were you already a permanent resident? If not, have you updated GE after becoming resident? I updated them a while ago after getting 2 year GC, then after 10 year GC, as I enrolled in GE under work visa.
  10. You can do it after logging in to travel portal dashboard (https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/dashboard): Before replacing card, you need to update citizenship status with Global Entry. The $25 fee for card replacement wasn't covered by credit card, unfortunately.
  11. @Aoife&Cam he answered "No" to all questions, but were all answers truthful?
  12. Understandable, still should have booked flights only after getting ESTA approved. Good luck and keep us posted!
  13. Agreed, flights should only be booked after visa in passport is issued.
  14. File separately (cannot file single when married) only makes sense in very narrow use cases. Most of the time, one gets better tax break and potentially refund when filing jointly. I don't understand why this debate even exists 😃
  15. Congrats! I know how difficult it is to open first credit card, and it's super helpful for building the credit.
  16. You have nothing to do, and you aren't liable for your spouse's taxes especially once divorced.
  17. From: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/passport-help/faqs.html?hl=en-US "If you have been waiting more than four weeks for your documents, call 1-877-487-2778 to report that you have not received your documents. If you want us to reimburse you for a lost supporting document, you must contact us within 90 days of the date which we mailed your passport. You will also need to provide a receipt to show the cost of replacing the document. " I realize the docs weren't lost, but this is the closest match for your situation.
  18. You can always apply. Whether you'll get it or not is a separate question nobody can give you guarantees on.
  19. This is so devastating! I know you can get money back if DOS loses certificate. Can you try contacting them to see if you can get reimbursement for this damage?
  20. 2. You need to hire an interpreter or bring one a charity provides. It needs to be a third neutral party who is not interested in interview outcome. Your sister isn't a neutral party.
  21. Yes, USPS Informed Delivery is way more superior than tracking provided by USCIS. Congrats!
  22. His immigration is his problem. Techinically, he's required to file taxes on world wide income (even living outside the US) until she loses or gives up his LPR status.
