  1. You'll get separate mail with code to add your case online, because I-751 is a form filed on paper
  2. "Print in black ink" typically means writing by hand using capital letters using a pen. I'd use normal date format for the US: mm/dd/yyyy, e.g. 01/23/2025 As to signing, not sure, but you could always complete everything but signature and do it on the day. My impression is, you can sign and date beforehand, but I don't have direct experience
  3. There's laws around residency that are being enforced. Free doesn't mean free to not follow rules. I guess LPRs are incentivized to become citizens now
  4. Looks like a crackdown on people using green cards as visitors visas and not residing in the US.
  5. People get sent to secondary all the time, even when answering all questions. I may be wrong though.
  6. What do you mean couldn't? Of course he could
  7. Sure thing, people try all the time. Very few get it expedited. What's your basis for expedite?
  8. On the day of my oath, MyProgress showed 3 weeks until decision for me. It's very unreliable. Technically, nobody knows how soon USCIS will approve case, but legally you can sue them after 120 days if you don't have decision then. Most applicants get decision within few days or weeks though. Keep us posted!
  9. CC are a bit risky.... Many stories of banks blocking USCIS transactions as fradulent On the other hand, give it few weeks after delivery to get movement.
  10. No need to. She'll get 24 months extension letter after filing N-400
  11. 1) She could apply based on marriage to US citizen, as long as you were a citizen the 3 years, she was married to you for 3 years and you lived together for 3 years. Move evidence needed for this type of filing, but then her 6+ months trip will be outside of 3 years lookback 2) She could apply 4 years and 1 day since returning from that 6 months trip under 5 year rule There's special rule about that: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-d-chapter-3 3) She could wait until 5 years anniversary of coming back from last 6 months trip, then she wouldn't have to list it 4) She can apply whenever eligible even with 6 months trip and try to argue she maintained residence. It's not about why she left, but what all ties to the US she maintained. Lease or mortgage would have been a strong indication.
  12. Mine said 7 months and it actually took 3.5 months. It was showing 3 weeks until decision on day of my oath.
  13. Check documents tab in MyUSCIS tomorrow
  14. The only legal timeline is 120 days after interview. If USCIS doesn't make decision within this window, you can sue USCIS for decision (Writ of Mandamus)
  15. A) What rule is she applying under? 3 or 5? B) Did she maintain ties to the US (such as keeping lease, job, property in the US)?
  16. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you truly answered all questions to your best knowledge at the time. If you knew and misrepresented, that would be a different story.
  17. The only advice is to pay taxes moving forward and be careful with answers. Unless you owed hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in taxes, the likelihood of somebody revisiting your file is pretty low. There has to be a reason such as: a) You're sponsoring somebody for immigration benefit soon b) You do something very bad that causes government to look into ways for denaturalizing you There's millions of naturalized citizens living in the US today. I believe only few hundred denaturalization cases were filed in the last few years. It's probably not going to happen. It's not to say anybody applying now should be relaxed and lie in their application... Because while the risk of denaturalizaton is low, it's there.
  18. I *believe* VJ policy prohibits generative AI replies. While many replies may be accurate, AI may generate a lot of bad responses due to "hallucinations".
  19. Please don't use generative AI for important matters such as immigration, whether it's Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT, Gemini or something else. As outlined earlier, the worst case you can get SSN later, amend taxes and get money back.
  20. It depends on your priorities. I got passport first, then did SSA.
  21. Thank you @ODAAT Yes, the check box on N-400 didn't work for me @stag Here's the story:
  22. Alternatively, wait for 3 years to apply for N-400 since the last trip lasting over 6 months. That is, of course, if applying based on marriage to US citizen.
