  1. It actually does not say a US Government issued id because it's meant to be any government issued id. There are millions of travelers to the US from untold countries that need medical care and never will have a US government issued id. Just go with your passport and it will be fine.
  2. You need patience, on average the approval is about one year from the time you filed, sometimes sooner and sometimes longer, but there is nothing you can do but just wait.
  3. I do not believe that the K1 says that you need to know someone for 2 years, I filed my k1 application after knowing my spouse for 10 months and meeting in person once and it was approved. For my own piece of mind however, my divorce was final in July 2017 and did not get engaged until November 2017. To be honest, in my case, I honestly did not feel the Embassy paid much attention to the engagement data we supplied. In any case my application was approved.
  4. Wow, really sorry for this experience, but filling out the forms that need to be uploaded to the NVC will take at best 2 days and that is being very careful and cautious in filling them out. You are paying for a service, I suggest that you tell your lawyer how you feel and to get the job done for what you are paying her to do.
  5. If she has an ITIN you can add her to your bank accounts....until the SS arrives.
  6. If you are going to be there, why not get married and the apply for spousal visa, much cheaper and when your spouse comes to the US already will have green card.
  7. Since this is a fiancee visa, the State Department's role is to forward your approved application to the local US Embassy where the interview for your beneficiary will take place. Best to find the web site for the US Embassy in the country where the interview will take place and become familiar of the process that will take place at that embassy. Most embassies have ample information on the process.
  8. Increasingly they are going 100% online. When my husband had his interview in Jakarta they stamped his passport with the same stamp there and did not give him a package to bring to the US as they used to do. When he arrived after checking in with immigration they took him to an office in the airport and within the hours he was out. I think in one month he received his social security card and in 6 weeks his 10 year green card, ( we had already been married over two years when he entered. )
  9. For a K1 visa the fiancee brings the actual affidavit of support and the documentation to the interview and turns it in to the person that checks all the documentation that is brought to the interview. At least that is how it was handled by the US Embassy in Indonesia for my fiancee. I basically filled out the affidavit of support and email all the pages and the documentation to my fiancee and he printed it all there and brought it to the interview.
  10. WOW! You got married and what is his is also yours. When I got married I told my husband that whatever he needs I don't care what it is he tells me and I either can afford it or I can't. On top of that I added him to all my accounts and he has his own debit cards to all the accounts and all I ask of him is to check the balance before he uses a card to make sure there is money for the purchase he will make. On larger items he just ask can he buy. You need to have a conversation with your spouse because when he married you he said he was going to be financially responsible for you and that is all there is. Once you are able to work then you can have a conversation about expenses and such but this is NOT a good situation for you to be in. Very sad.
  11. If the relations is legitimate and can clearly prove it to the USCIS and the Embassy, the age difference does not matter! My spouse is 40 years younger than me and we had no issues getting the K1 approved and for reasons that are not important, also the CR1 approved.
  12. If you already submitted the affidavit of support, all you need to submit is your 2023 taxes, it is best to get an IRS transcript from the IRS website, it is free and online and then you can download the transcript and upload it to CEAC.
  13. Indeed that is your NOA1 thought you really should receive the actual copy in the mail.
  14. Oh, I honestly think it is not worth it to bring anything that you cannot bring in your luggage. I believe you will be allowed 2 bags of 23 kg each. It is very expensive to have shipments to the USA, when my fiancee came over he only brought what he could fit on his luggage and left everything else behind or gave away to his family in Indonesia and once he was here we bought new stuff he wanted/needed.
  15. It's based on the medical exam, my fiancee medical at Bintaro included a putum test that added 3 months to the process, to make a long story short, once he was given his visa to enter the USA, it only was good for 3 weeks. He entered the US the day before the visa expired.
  16. Lots of excellent information given to you but I agree that the CR1 visa is by far the better and cheaper choice to go on.
  17. I honestly do not think you have to worry about anything if your marriage is legit and you have lived accordingly. My age difference of 40 years, me older, was never an issue in the process. Good luck.
  18. Well certainly the officer will refer your spouse to secondary to review the documents that are in the package they bring with them. Since you are travelling together, most likely you will be allow to go to secondary but the interview that will take place will most likely be with your fiancee. How long that takes depends on the entry airport and how busy they are in secondary. My spouse entered in Houston and it took about one hour in total, the actual interview was like 10 minutes, the other time was just waiting to be called. It will take what it takes but all will be fine.
  19. As stated in other comments, I think the government does not care about the engagement, outside of the letters to get married upon entering the US, if you happen to mention that you are engaged, the way or manner of the engagement is really not important. Given a choice of K1 or Spousal visa, I would have opted for a spousal visa as the timeline outside of the country was about the same, but in the long term cheaper because many steps are not part of the process, (adjustment of status for example.) but this is something that is very personal to the couple making the decisions. My suggestion will always be to do your research on both options and then decide which one is best for you. Good luck.
  20. You can file right now. Good luck but be patient, it can take up to a year to find out if your application has been approved.
  21. You arrived in the USA and in no time you will receive your social security card and shortly there after you will receive your 10 year green card. When my spouse entered with the spousal visa in less than 2 months after he arrived he had the social security and 10 year green card. Good luck.
  22. My experience with this same issue in Indonesia was not a pleasant one. The very first time my spouse went to the medical prior to the Interview, he tested positive for TB and had to go into treatment. Unfortunately my spouse lived in Sumatra a different island than Java where the only approved US Embassy Hospital is located and the treatment takes 6 months. Since he was not able to do the treatment in Jakarta, the hospital requirements are that after the 6 months treatment, he had to wait another year to schedule a new medical test in Jakarta, a wait of 18 months, then when he went to the medical, because he had scarring in the lungs they required the sputum test again which by the way in Indonesia takes 12 weeks, (3 months.) Eventually he passed and passed the interview and was given his visa but from the time that USCIS approved our K1 application in Feb 2018 until the time he finally entered the US, June 2021 was 3 years and 4 months. Wish you the best but be patient.
  23. My husband is from Indonesia, a majority Muslim country where same sex marriage it's not an option. We applied for a K1 visa and outside of the normal processing timelines we had no issues whatsoever and the K1 was granted. He came tot he US and we got married in Houston, unfortunately for reasons outside of our control, he had to return to Indonesia during the AOS process before anything had been approved, so, I had to then reapply for a CR1, spousal visa and that took 2 years until the spousal visa was approved and he eventually came back to the US, this time with a 10 year green card. You will not have any issues whatsoever with the US Embassy if you follow and comply with all the requirements of the K1 visa. Good luck.
  24. To start with, the K1 process which you have already started will take at least one year before you find out if they approve the application to go to the next steps. The next steps are also expensive, going to the medical, interview and if approved flying to the US. Who is going to pay for all those expenses? In any case the above is what it is for the K1 and as other have mentioned there is no short cutting the process. Then it seems that you need to find a solution about your financial and home situation to wait out the process of the k1 visa, but those solutions are in your hands, while you will get much advice here at then end it will be up to you and your sponsor to find a solution to that situation. Good luck.
  25. In Texas just needed my driver's license and my spouse Indonesian passport to get the marriage license. Obviously every state is different, just search your state's marriage license requirements.
