Health issue before medical test
TexasRafael replied to Geoffrey Earhart's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Oh I also wanted to mention that we sent an email to the US Embassy in Jakarta every time there was a change of status on what was going on. So we sent an email when he was told about the treatment for six months, then we sent an email when Premier Bintaro said that he cannot have the Medical for another year after finishing the TB treatment at a different hospital in Bengkulu, then another email when he did have the Medical and was told that he needed the sputum test that takes 3 months for the results. Though the US Embassy is not one to answer you as such, we felt comfortable to keep them in the loop. Once he did get his interview and his visa to enter the US, he only had 30 days to get out of Indonesia and enter the US, which was not a problem. -
Health issue before medical test
TexasRafael replied to Geoffrey Earhart's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Hello, I have first hand knowledge about this. My fiance tested positive for TB the first time he went to the medical test in Premier Bintaro. At that time they told him that the treatment was six months IF he did the treatment at their Hospital in Jakarta. Unfortunately, he lived in Bengkulu, Sumatra and was not able to stay for six months in Jakarta. He did the treatment in Bengkulu at a hospital there for six months and when he finished treatment and contacted Premier Bintaro that the treatment was finished, they told him that he needed to wait a year before he could have the medical test once again at their hospital for the US Embassy interview. We just wrote an email to the US Embassy in Jakarta and made them aware of this issue. A year later, he schedule his medical once again with Premier Bintaro and went to Jakarta for the test. During the test they told him that he needed to have the sputum test again and wait 3 months for the results. He once again paid for the medical AND the sputum test and three month later they told him he passed the test and that they will be sending the results to the US Embassy. He then went online and scheduled his interview with the US Embassy and was approved for his K1 Visa. I want to let you know that unfortunately, after he came to the US and we got married, while waiting to adjust status, he had to return to Indonesia and we had to then apply for a CR1, marriage visa, and when he went to Premier Bintaro again for his medical, yet again they told him he had to take the sputum test and wait 3 months for the results. This whole thing was very expensive as every time he went to Premier Bintaro the medical test was more expensive than the last as well as the sputum test and also the added expense of flying from Bengkulu to Jakarta. Just in the medical test, travels to Jakarta and sputum test etc we spent over $3,000.00 dollars. Quite the experience. I hope your fiance/spouse lives in Jakarta as it will be much faster to get the treatment done at Premier Bintaro. Good luck. -
Interesting to read the comments, it matters if it is a female sending to a male? My experience with a 40 year difference between me and my Indonesian husband, who I sent thousands of dollars in the journey from 2017 until 2023, ( K1 visa approved but had to return to Indonesia and then apply for the CR1,) I never provided any copies of the financial assistance I provided in either of the visa petitions and were never asked for them either. Good luck!

Well I did it two years in a row, 2021 and 2022 and my taxes were processed. my refunds issues and my transcripts loaded into the IRS website and those were the ones I sent with my affidavit of support, showing all 9's for my husbands social security number. That was my experience as my husbands ITIN took 20 months to get issued and I was not going to file married filing separate and pay higher taxes than I had to.
-
I honestly do not know if I had to file when I received the ITIN, certainly a must once he received the social, I guess I did it just to be safe than sorry and cover all basis. I filed paper returns as the software that I was using would not let me do electronic with the all 9 social security. I had not problems either year with the paper returns, obviously my refund took a bit longer but it was processed as filed.

Do Not Open envelope?
TexasRafael replied to Rosaly's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
It is all electronic now and no envelope is given. Once she enters the US all the information the agent needs will be online. No worries. -
hie I did send an application to the IRS to obtain an ITIN for my spouse, the process took for ever, so I just filed my taxes married filing joint and just entered all 9's in the field to enter my spouse social security number. I filed my taxes like that for 2021 and 2022 and the IRS processed them and I was actually able to get transcripts when I needed them to file the affidavit of support. Once the ITIN was received in late 2022, I filed amended returns with the ITIN and then once he came to the US and got his social security number, I once again filed amended returns to include his social.

Getting Primary Care
TexasRafael replied to OHeyItsRick's topic in Moving to the US and Your New Life In America
It actually does not say a US Government issued id because it's meant to be any government issued id. There are millions of travelers to the US from untold countries that need medical care and never will have a US government issued id. Just go with your passport and it will be fine. -
I130 for spouse
TexasRafael replied to Christinab99's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
You need patience, on average the approval is about one year from the time you filed, sometimes sooner and sometimes longer, but there is nothing you can do but just wait. -
K-1 Visa while Divorce is in Process
TexasRafael replied to Mohsin786's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
I do not believe that the K1 says that you need to know someone for 2 years, I filed my k1 application after knowing my spouse for 10 months and meeting in person once and it was approved. For my own piece of mind however, my divorce was final in July 2017 and did not get engaged until November 2017. To be honest, in my case, I honestly did not feel the Embassy paid much attention to the engagement data we supplied. In any case my application was approved. -
Lawyer taking forever to submit to NVC
TexasRafael replied to Amandapaddy's topic in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
Wow, really sorry for this experience, but filling out the forms that need to be uploaded to the NVC will take at best 2 days and that is being very careful and cautious in filling them out. You are paying for a service, I suggest that you tell your lawyer how you feel and to get the job done for what you are paying her to do. -
What is department of state?
TexasRafael replied to Rachel n Tyler's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Since this is a fiancee visa, the State Department's role is to forward your approved application to the local US Embassy where the interview for your beneficiary will take place. Best to find the web site for the US Embassy in the country where the interview will take place and become familiar of the process that will take place at that embassy. Most embassies have ample information on the process. -
IR1 visa not stamped at port of entry
TexasRafael replied to Embran's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
Increasingly they are going 100% online. When my husband had his interview in Jakarta they stamped his passport with the same stamp there and did not give him a package to bring to the US as they used to do. When he arrived after checking in with immigration they took him to an office in the airport and within the hours he was out. I think in one month he received his social security card and in 6 weeks his 10 year green card, ( we had already been married over two years when he entered. ) -
When to submit Affidavit of Support?
TexasRafael replied to Robert809's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
For a K1 visa the fiancee brings the actual affidavit of support and the documentation to the interview and turns it in to the person that checks all the documentation that is brought to the interview. At least that is how it was handled by the US Embassy in Indonesia for my fiancee. I basically filled out the affidavit of support and email all the pages and the documentation to my fiancee and he printed it all there and brought it to the interview. -
WOW! You got married and what is his is also yours. When I got married I told my husband that whatever he needs I don't care what it is he tells me and I either can afford it or I can't. On top of that I added him to all my accounts and he has his own debit cards to all the accounts and all I ask of him is to check the balance before he uses a card to make sure there is money for the purchase he will make. On larger items he just ask can he buy. You need to have a conversation with your spouse because when he married you he said he was going to be financially responsible for you and that is all there is. Once you are able to work then you can have a conversation about expenses and such but this is NOT a good situation for you to be in. Very sad.
-
Indeed that is your NOA1 thought you really should receive the actual copy in the mail.
-
Oh, I honestly think it is not worth it to bring anything that you cannot bring in your luggage. I believe you will be allowed 2 bags of 23 kg each. It is very expensive to have shipments to the USA, when my fiancee came over he only brought what he could fit on his luggage and left everything else behind or gave away to his family in Indonesia and once he was here we bought new stuff he wanted/needed.

K1 Expiry date
TexasRafael replied to Larry Pieniazek's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
It's based on the medical exam, my fiancee medical at Bintaro included a putum test that added 3 months to the process, to make a long story short, once he was given his visa to enter the USA, it only was good for 3 weeks. He entered the US the day before the visa expired. -
Age Gap + Interview
TexasRafael replied to NicholasLibo's topic in Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas
I honestly do not think you have to worry about anything if your marriage is legit and you have lived accordingly. My age difference of 40 years, me older, was never an issue in the process. Good luck. -
Well certainly the officer will refer your spouse to secondary to review the documents that are in the package they bring with them. Since you are travelling together, most likely you will be allow to go to secondary but the interview that will take place will most likely be with your fiancee. How long that takes depends on the entry airport and how busy they are in secondary. My spouse entered in Houston and it took about one hour in total, the actual interview was like 10 minutes, the other time was just waiting to be called. It will take what it takes but all will be fine.
