  1. First of all i apologize if this is in the wrong topic. Today i my job one of my fellow managers were in the process of hiring a candidate and the gentleman green card was expired. I overheard her telling him that unfortunately she wasnt able to hire him because his green card was expired even though he provided his renewal notices that extends his legal status for 12 months. I remember someone here posting a policy that makes it illegal for employers to deny employment to LPR’s with expired documents can you guys direct me to the USCIS policy that protects LPRs from employment discrimination.
  2. my grandma got hers not too long ago & it took about 6 months. I think she would have gotten it sooner but she missed her biometric appointment & at the time i didnt know she could have just walked in & gotten her biometrics done. This was in the Nwk field office.
  3. Yes OP will need to show proof that he completed the anger management program and the disposition of that case.
  4. My wife passport locator 69. We applied for normal time since we are not planning to travel. 8/1/22 Applied at local postal office. 8/4/22 status change to received in in process. 8/6/22 check cashed
  5. Lawyers asking for $1000 just to go with you to an interview is crazy lol. My lawyer actually told me i was going to be just fine without him but i wanted him to go with me it was also $1000 😂. I had a complex history so i actually hired a lawyer to review my criminal history before submitting my n-400 and i could honestly say he gave me alot of confidence so the money was worth it for me but i didnt see the need to have him at the interview. I think at the interview level their help is limited if you dont have the need for a lawyer. But if you do then the $1000 might be the best money ever spent.
  6. Is this only for the countries where the US dont allow duel citizenship?. I never heard IO confiscating documents during interview 🤷🏾‍♂️. To the op good luck & i hope everything works out just in time for your trip.
  7. What Judges dont tell you is that even if you had a record sealed or expunged you should save all dispositions for immigration purposes because those will be the only accessible ones from that point. From my experience the IO had everything all dispositions but they still want you to be the one providing and volunteering the information. USCIS & CBP could see things other law enforcement agencies can’t regardless if its sealed or expunged.
  8. Maybe it was an isolated issue for mines but the online one didnt have the questionnaire. But as far as the letter it is the same exact one.
  9. Im just assuming he thought that because he filled out the application for his parents they were getting US citizenship through him. I myself have to do everything for my parents to this day.
  10. Just out of curiosity what are the major differences between both test?. Im assuming the 911 attack to the us was added as part of the history questions.
  11. Thanks mike for the quick response! We just submitted for her passport today now we will wait and see what happens. All the question you posted were true for her. I just wasnt sure if she qualified for derived citizenship because her mom became naturalized before she came to the US.
  12. How can someone out find out if they have derived citizenship through a naturalized parent before the age of 18. Before my gf spends the $1170 on the N-600 fee we would like to know for certain if she gained derived citizenship from her mom when she became a citizen in 2007. At the time she was 11 years old but was not in the US. My gf entered the US in 2008 on a visa & then her green card. We are confuse about her status because she has been questioned several times by CBP about using her country’s passport to leave and enter the US. They even went as far as telling her she could get in trouble for using that passport. So besides submitting the N-600 or submitting a passport application what other way there is to find out her status.
  13. Cases like this is what drives me crazy when i see ppl on here thinking of rescheduling their oath ceremony for trips or not being able to take the day off from work. Congrats your journey will be over soon.
  14. My grandmother just did her this year. She submitted her i-90 in January newark field office. She got scheduled for her biometrics on march but missed her appointment due to the appointment letter Arriving after the appointment date. After her missing the appointment i decided to set up an account for her & submitted to a reschedule her appointment ( i didnt know she could have just walked in & gotten her biometrics done at any time before or after appointment). She got reschedule for her biometrics on June 30th and maybe 10 days after that we had her GC on hand.
  15. I was a gc holder for 25 years & never carried it on me. I only used it for jobs and dmv in those 25 years. I was never asked about my immigration status either.
  16. Why nigeria? im fairly new here and dont understand why that would raise red flags for cbp lol.
  17. Quick question my grandmother just got her biometrics done yesterday and her status change to Card is being produce how long till she gets her card mailed out?. Thank you in advance 🙏🏾
  18. Congrats 🎉🎊 Thank you for updating us on your journey and sharing it with us. We all have different immigration journeys & we could help others by sharing our journey and giving others hope.
  19. You could just tell them jobs are often super willing to accommodate things before you are on a schedule. I would attend that interview even if i need to call out 🤷🏾‍♂️ But thats just me.
