I believe nothing will happen she will still have derived citizenship as long as she meets all requirements. From your post i assume she meets the requirements of having a green card and living under your care for a period of time prior to you becoming a citizen. Perfect example my wife she submitted for a US passport at the age of 27 through derived citizenship. From the age of 16 she had being traveling outside the country with a foreign passport and she would often get sent to secondary and asked about her passport and her identity never telling her what was the issue. A couple of months ago thanks to visajourney and the help from some of veterans members i was advise to instead of submitting an N-600 and take the risk of losing over 1k if it turned out she wasnt a citizen.i was advise to apply for a passport and gamble 130 instead.

Ok i was wondering if those were documenta required to LPRs applying under the 3 or 5 year rule but now i see it depends on the IO i guess. But it makes sense they dont want anyone acquiring citizenship that they might consider a public burden. -
A little background story to my questions. I came to the US at the age of 11. I pretty much grow up here not knowing the difference between being a citizen or permanent resident as weird as it sounds it wasnt important for me. I know plenty of ppl that came to this country as early as 1 years old and as adults found themselves being deported for committing criminal offenses and not knowing they could have gotten deported because they were not citizens. Some ppl live their whole life as LPRs not knowing the difference. I was one of those 🤦🏾♂️. Anyways fast forward 20 something years to 2019 when I decided to became a citizen because at that time i was an adult & well informed. For my N-400 interview i didnt have to bring much just prove my child support was current and a couple of dispositions of things that happened during my teenage years. My question is after how many years does the requirement of alot information like tax returns & employement status is not needed? Or was my interview unique in the sense that the IO didnt ask me for no paper work other than the ones i mentioned.

Downloaded from the app store. What i did was i would take the test whenever i had some spared time & when i started getting all of them right i would just take the test once a day & one more time before my interview. -
Yes thank you! i figured its too early to cry wolf. Im just glad her mom’s citizenship certificate is back to safe hands which is the most valuable document from the list. Also while i have you guys attention i have one more question. My wife’s passport came with a typo in her middle name. Her middle name is Cristina but at the end instead of an A they put a G. We have a planned vacation to México next month and after the trip we will submit the passport to the DOS to get it rectified. As far as evidence they are asking for a birth certificate can we send the foreign birth certificate and translation and would this be sufficient evidence of her name & how it should be spelled? Or what other evidence would you guys recommend we send out with the DS-5504 form.

As some of you might know my wife was recently approved for her us passport via derived citizenship through her mom. As evidence we submitted her mom citizenship certificate, my wife first foreign passport which had her entry stamp as a minor, her foreign birth certificate, a notarized translation of her birth certificate and green card. Well on thursday she received her passport & this friday she received all the proof she submitted besides the green card “ they included a letter explaining that the green card was sent to USCIS because the green card was no longer valid since she has a us passport” but no mention of the foreign passport and what they did with it. Any info or related experience would be greatly appreciated.

My wife became an LPR after her mom became a naturalized citizen. Her mom petition my wife almost a year after she was already a US citizen and my wife got derived citizenship. Thanks to Mike advise we submitted for my wife’s passport because it was the quickest & cheapest way to find out if she had gain derived citizenship through her mom and 2 days ago her passport status changed to Approved.

I was shocked to find out CBP has the authority to search your phone. What do you think an immigrant facing that type of scrutiny could do in that situation?. Just asking to see if there is something that could be done about it. On you tube a saw a good amount of ppl getting their entry deny at POE’s over things found on their phones. The one thing i heard the intending immigrant could do and should do is put the phone on airplane mode before handing it to CBP because they are not allow to search for evidence online or your social media. -
i-90 renewal work authorization?
Adujarric replied to Adujarric's topic in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
He did had a valid SS. I think after reading all of you guys answer he didn’t use a secondary’s id like a drivers license or passport. He would have been just fine using a DL but he didnt have one. He was in the final step of the hiring process which was to completing the I-9 part two which is when we verify the documents. I overheard the conversation & told the manager that was ilegal to deny him employment because he still is a legal permanent resident. In her defense she honestly didnt know but when she contacted our TMS lead or HR point person they told her not to move forward with the hiring. I felt ofended & spoke out. The store manager told me to bring it up to HR attentions where it states that its actually discrimination what they did with that guy.
