Scan the one u have to NVC
he only needs the original one for the interview

u are just at NVC recently so the likelyhood of an interview within 3 months is rare
if u are lucky and get one before the paper document and CO wants to see it,  they will ask for additional documents and case will be on hold at Italian embassy till u submit it

BTW do your 2021 taxes because u may also need copies of those for the interview going past the April 18, 2022 tax dead line date

    Hello everybody,

I hope everyone is having a good morning/day/evening. I just wanted to lift everybody up a little bit and bring some positivity to the chat.
I know that everybody is just like me waiting on this long process to be with their loved ones. It is super frustrating and a bit unfair to us, but all we can do is to stay positive and wait. Uncertainty and waiting is not easy, and we can't change this visa process, but we can change the way we react on it

Me and my husband met at the dog park while I was going through the university in the US, were dating for almost two years until I got my degree, and got married in Vegas on Valentines Day this year, then I had to leave to my home country due to visa expiration. I don't know what really helped us to go through faster, but I have a record of traveling to US in 2013, and living there while studying from 2015-2020. We didn't expedite the process, just tried to build a good case and submitted a lot of photos of us with dates on them, proof that we have been living together, that we have three dogs together, and affidavit from his friend.

I've been reading a lot of threads on this forum and it has been very helpful to learn more about this process and to see where the process is at for the different people, but I have never really participated in it. What I've learned from all the people here and from my own experience is this:

    1. It doesn't matter what Service Center you are at, your application will take as long as it will take. There is no pattern really. Stay positive no matter what.
    2. Processing times on USCIS website are not accurate. Nobody knows, it is a mystery.
    3. We might not be able to really speed up the process, but we can help ourselves through this process by spending time with our families at home country, doing something we love, maybe meditating, finding new hobbies, visit places that we haven't been at and can travel to, taking time for ourselves,  and taking care of ourselves before we can be together again with people we chose to spend the rest of our lives with.

I know this process is filled with uncertainty, wait, and anxiety, but we need to let it go a little bit somehow and continue living life. We all will soon be with our loved ones again just maybe a little later than we wanted  We can't change the process, but we can change the way we react on it.

I hope everybody will find something helpful and positive for themselves in this post. Thank you for reading.

Not an issue.  Just make sure to use your new legal name on all future forms (I-864, DS-260).

That's also the major reason we chose the CR1 route.  Although applying for AP travel permit is possible, just the anxiety from the risk of not getting AP in time if there's a family emergency would have turned us both into emotional wrecks.  We don't want that kind of stress in our life, so the spouse visa was really the only choice for us.

On the marriage certificate is your current maiden name.  You have to do the same thing as everyone else that is a beneficiary changing their name.  You need marriage certificate to take to SSA office, and to change passport, driver's license.  That is the legal document used to allow the name change.

Where did you get married?  Here in Washington, there is no process for a marriage-related name change, except to begin using the new name, with the marriage certificate as evidence.

I petitioned my now-husband (we did a K-1 however, and married on Whidbey). I took his last name.  Still haven't changed it on my passport or DL.  I did change it with social security and the State Board of Nursing for my RN license, as well as with my employer.  I just carry a copy of the marriage certificate.

Makes me think a paper one would be better.. :/ It kind of drives me crazy that whoever made the fillable forms (was looking at the i129 previously) did a crappy job of it and I can't fix it since its all protected and whatnot.
