Hi all, just wanted to let you know that I recently received an interview date by the NVC. My case is a little different in that it was transferred from a different embassy and has been DQ'd since October 2020. So I think that recent DQers are just around the corner for London. It's really upsetting to read that people are in such a difficult situations with their families, but sometimes all the speculation isn't especially helpful - I hope that this news gives people some optimism.

AKBarnes got a reaction from Natachito in London embassy CR1 - Medicals
    Hello

Just wondering if anyone could post their examples of what they received from their doctor in regards to a patient summary. There was some on the other forum but they got deleted as it was going off topic. My doctor clearly hasn't had this kind of request before (especially for US Visa purposes), so would be good to have some examples.
I can't find where on the travel.state.gov London embassy Medical preparation it says we have to have this so thank goodness for these forums!

Any help would be appreciated and anyone interviewing this month, all the best!
    xx

They will ask for your interview date. Get prepared for all you need, but wait until you have an interview date before you call for an appointment. You have to bring the interview appointment confirmation to your medical so you don’t want to guess wrongly. Appointments are always available quickly.

Are you asking about booking the medical online? Here’s how to book the medical and what you should prepare to bring https://visamedicals.co.uk/united-states/

You have to register your interview date and make courier arrangements online. It will take a day or two for your LND number to hit the system and let you in to do that. No rush to do that step.

CR1 - DQ'd 8th October, original interview on 01/03 was postponed to 08/04 but finally approved at interview yesterday. Very straightforward interview process and it all went smoothly at the London Embassy. They're super professional but friendly working in a modern, clean and very spacious building. Couldn't help but let out a little cheer when the interviewer said she'd approve our visa at the interview window!! The whole process was 1 hour, but most of that was made up by waiting between the two stages of presenting documents (stage 1) and the interview itself (stage 2). I will post a full review later but SO, SO relieved and SO, SO happy to be near the end of our rollercoaster immigration journey. Just waiting for my passport to be couriered back up to me in Edinburgh in the next week or two / Thank you to everyone on here for their support and information and good luck to everyone who is waiting at the different stages.

What you want is your 'summary care record' - that's the NHS-wide terminology. You might be best served giving a copy of these pages to your GP/surgery receptionist for reference, but basically it's a short-form record of your recent treatments, any long term conditions, etc. It's not your full medical records.

    https://digital.nhs.uk/services/summary-care-records-scr

    https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/how-to-access-your-health-records/

I was able to just get a printout of my SCR from the receptionists at my GP surgery once they understood that a printout of that record was all I needed. Mine was very short, (a lot of the headings had nothing under them) it just had a note about a prescription i had for a couple of months and no longer on there and basically nothing else but my name and DOB if I recall correctly.

Note that if you have any chronic conditions you'll likely need a letter from your GP about it, but also if you've ever had any mental health issues you should get a letter stating that you are not a danger to yourself or others - even if it was a long time ago and you are well now, they just need that bit of documentation.

edit: some districts & surgeries let you access this online (through a web portal you have to get a code from them to register at) so you can print it yourself, while others do not. It's very regional, but that may be worth asking about.

    Hi,
I took mine against my white door and used an app to size & print at home to submit visa application. Since they approved it, I took the same to interview. It was scanned & given back to me with no problem.
    Goodluck

I had 2 from Walgreens when I was in the US and I also had one done from local shop in Manchester where they print 2, but I had to ask they to cut it and they give an URL too.

Just FYI, they also have a photo booth like thing at the London embassy.

Husband just got out of his interview. They asked him how we met (Tinder, lol), how long after we met did we start dating, what I do for a living, what he does for a living, and that’s it.

We did NOT have a straightforward financial situation due to my wonky tax return status (2019 taxes STILL not processed) and the fact that I’m a freelancer with no official employer (i.e. no W2). Felt pretty nervous about the interview because people here kept saying we’d be asked to get another sponsor, but nope. Wasn’t an issue.

No questions about our financial situation and a very laid-back atmosphere. Though my husband did say that the woman interviewing him didn’t break intense eye contact while she had him swear an oath with his hand up that he would be truthful lol.

He also mentioned that he overheard the entire interviews of other people there, so not a super private set-up. Presumably they take you into another room if things get intense.

So relieved. Still hasn’t set in.

I went on the website and it said they're only doing longterm parking, nothing for short term. I've managed to book something at Bonnington Square. It's a 20mins walk to the embassy, but that's alright for me.

I guess I just don't want to risk finding out on the day that the parking is closed or doesn't allow me in. I'll be a bag of nerves already, don't want the parking situation stressing me out haha!

    Thank you though.

I would get any shot I could into my arm at the soonest time/place offered.

Being in the UK, I hear you have to wait a longer interval time to receive dose 2. (My mum is waiting 3 months instead of 3 weeks on Pfizer dose 2.)

If your timing is super close for a jab and interview, and you know shots are readily available in the State where you are moving, then evaluate at the time all pieces are confirmed.  I think it’s too soon right now to know how it will play out. Currently in my metro area where vaccines are coming in big shipments weekly, it would still be hard to get just a second dose. The online registrations are just not set up that way and you don’t always know which vaccine your appointment is for. My appointment is tomorrow and I don’t know if Moderna or Pfizer.  Depending on the timing and your new state of residence you might have better luck starting in the US however getting a spot will be tough because they go quickly. With no National database like NHS, and states having different protocols, you may be on your own to scramble for a spot.

Ooh - I forgot to give a shout out to the fantastic hotel I stayed in when I was in Vauxhall for my interview - it was lush! It's the Staybridge Suites, 100 Vauxhall Walk. Each room has a wee kitchen, a comfy bed, a small living area with tv and a fab bathroom, as well as a really great breakfast included. Super nice staff too. It's a 15 min walk to the embassy from there, and was so nice to have a kitchen and a bit more space. I called ahead to make sure they would accept my booking - thankfully they would, they said an embassy appointment is on the 'accepted' list of reasons to book. It was £77 a night - they have reduced rates at the moment, a total bargain. Really peaceful and quiet too - would really recommend!
