With all due respect the first Filipina did not use me.  We were married for 8 years. She had her green card and US citizenship after 2 years of marriage.  We had two children, after the US Citizenship together and were very happy.  After having the second child my then wife suffered extreme bleeding in the hospital and went CODE BLUE.  Emergency surgery, ventilator, the whole works. Complete removal of all her her female parts, uterus and Fallopian tubes.  She survived and we were very happy but she became a different woman.  She refused and still refuses to take the female hormones that her doctor prescribed.  This is when our marriage started to go down the tubes.  And I didn't lose much in the divorce.  She wanted very little.  I only pay 529 dollars a month child support.  So she was not a bad person. She was the only one who couldn't see the changes.  I actually feel bad for her but she refuses to take the meds.

Yep, that’s me. Never, EVER, send original documents by mail (except your naturalization certificate when you become a USC, there is really no way around that one). What you should do is to contact your congressman to get you an in- person appointment. You, as a PR, are to be in possession of your GC at all times.

Received my green card and SSN in the mail on the same day i.e. Feb 12, 2022 (I forgot to check the mail box, my bad). My last name is missing a few letters but when I called the SSA hotline and the local offices in the Bay Area (CA), they said they are not accepting in person appointments till mid-April and asked me to send original documents of mine such as my green card, passport, marriage certificate etc. I am NOT doing that. When I suggested sending copies, they refused saying a bunch of people during the pandemic have sent fraudulent copies in order to get a social security number.

Am I paranoid to not send my original documents? Honestly, I can wait since they said only my name will change and the SS number will remain the same.

BTW, what else should I start with besides applying for a credit card to build credit? Driver's license? Any suggestions welcome.

Praise the Lord 🙌 The interview went smoothly with the officer at the center. My husband was seated beside me and our lawyer was behind us. After asking us to give our oaths, the only questions he asked were below:

He asked to see both of our original birth certificates and passports He asked for my full name. I had to mention I changed my surname to fit in my husband's surname His full name He asked for the full names for my parents and my husband for his If this was our first marriage He asked how me met and to describe our relationship Then the usual immigration questions such as if I am a spy, if I am affiliated with any organizations etc and I answered no to everything He said he won't approve on the same day but it will take some time.

My advice before going for the interview is, wear socks and shoes that you can easily slip out of (like when plane travel attire), dress nicely and wear masks obviously. Be very elaborate in your responses and be polite as much as possible. Attitude matters. It doesn't matter what kind of officer you get, be patient and relax. The center didn't ask for our vaccine cards and neither did the officer but please take them with you in paper form or via the digital pass on your phone.

We took a lot of documents in clear folders with tax forms, photos etc but he didn't ask for any of them. I guess it depends on what kind of office/officer you get but it's best to be prepared. Since, I got my green card approved, I don't require the EAD or AP and those applications will be moot (I am guessing). Your mileage may vary. I called the USCIS hotline to find out when my interview date was, since the interview receipt notice was late and even the lady on the hotline, it's crazy and lucky how soon I got my GC interview date since, most people have to wait for much longer as much as 12-14 months due to Covid delays. Once again, I owe this blessing and opportunity to God and I am fortunate to get it this soon.

Will keep you posted on when I get my green card and SSN in hand. All the very best to the rest of you!

I travel internationally all the time and have access to sensitive or restricted information at "work".  I have several work visas for countries of concern.  I use a separate "clean" phone and laptop to travel outside Mexico, Canada and Caribbean and even then nothing sensitive travels with me.   Anything sensitive or restricted I can access using 2 factor authentication over a VPN.

Everything physical is subject to search anywhere anytime.

My aunt got the covid-19 from hugging a friend who just got vaccinated. The vaccinated democrats who fled from Texas were all infected with the covid-19 (they were in a tube with their own vaccinated kind in their way to infect more people)...plenty of stories on internet from the so religious vaccinated people who became dangerous for the society.
I understand, your immune system is Weak and Fragile and you need to protect yourself with a vaccine. But those who don't want the vaccine judge that they have God's powerful immune system, the one that fights disease on it own, the one people have been brainwashed to forget about. Our body is very intelligent and our mind is powerful. Diseases are manifested in the body through the mind.
As you think, you become; and the vaccine might not be enough to protect the body from an insane mind. If you don't get the virus,  your  fear and stress about  diseases and death will still make you sick from something.
Sorry that you have lost all memories of your true God nature. God's Intelligence was around way before mad scientists.

I am not an anti-vaxxer.  Am fully vaccinated against everything I am required to be, and probably more vaccines than you have taken.

But no, if it is approved in a month or two, I will still oppose it, because it HAS NOT been thru the rigorous, normal testing that the FDA requires for most drugs/vaccines, period.

One big difference.  FDA approved vaccines vs Emergency Use/Experimental vaccines.  I am not really sure legally, the CDC can force medical experiments on people, USCs or Immigrants.

On another note, if we believe the current occupant of the WH, there area already 350 million Americans vaccinated.  Not sure there is really a problem.

    Unvaccinated against WHAT, exactly?

Also, please note that there is a HUGE difference between not being vaccinated and not opting for an experimental (NON-FDA-APPROVED) shot today.

Maybe this will help USCIS concentrate on processing more family visas and shortening the outrageous wait times for legal immigrants who have played by the rules and paid their fees. Lines for family visas like F2B have hardly moved at all under Biden, unlike the previous administration where wait times were moving 2 mos at a time. If Biden is really serious about making the immigration process easier, why cant he issue an executive order or two to speed up processing of legal immigrants? All their focus seems to be on helping illegal immigrants only. Why?

I try to show as much empathy as possible since being on this board and with the entire COVID situation.  However, for some reason, I dont have any empathy at all for the OP.  As far as I understand from the quick read of the thread, the OP's fiance or gf has overstayed for 2 years, which would be the entire length of this pandemic.  Canada has not been closed.  For the longest of time, you could have flown into the country but not crossed overland.  There were ways to get back.  Im mainly in the Philippines section and those couples (especially K1s) are going through pure h$ll.  Many of those couples have not seen their significant other for 16+ months, many others are over the two year mark now.  They have followed the rules, they have put their relationships on the line with the distance, the inability to even see each other with that country basically closed off to most foreigners.  I converted to Buddhism about 25 years ago and that red light to me is called karma.  Hopefully, though, things will eventually work out for the OP.
