I think I'll risk the drive. I'd rather be anxious about getting pulled over every 5 minutes and arrive on time than be anxious about being forced to stay another night in Montreal under a time of curfew.

If anyone has driven in from Ontario for their interview since the Stay At Home Order (or if you are driving into Montreal between now and next Tuesday) can you let us know how your experience with the OPP/SQ was? Thanks.

Were driving in tomorrow from Ontario so I can let you know

For any sponsors that file jointly, you will need their W-2s in addition to their tax transcripts, since the tax transcripts don't differentiate between income of the two individuals who are filing jointly.

If your sponsor makes enough on his own, then you just need the tax transcript for his and his wife's joint filing, and then his W-2s (I'm assuming you already have the AoS completed with his info).

I told y'all - I knew as soon as I opened the thread today and there were 5 new pages that interview letters had been sent!

Yes thanks. So i don't need the Aos of his wife just his because he makes enough right? Our interview is April 28th so it got approved by nvc without hers but I saw a comment on another site that you need both of theirs

Oh really? Even the Commercial portion of it? Everything I have seen has said that majority of states will reciprocate Canadian licences but not a Canadian CDL. Which I took to mean that I could hand in my Canadian Class 1 CDL license and they’d give me a US class 5 or standard drivers license and I would have to redo all the testing to get a CDL.

Yes! I was worried too from reading stuff on line, so I went and talked to them personally and they told me that it will! I don’t know if other states are different and if it has to do with the province your licence is from but  If I was you I would call whichever state you’re moving too and talk to them direct.

Thank you for the info! It is good to know that there are ways around it, I’m probably going to get my wife added as a co-owner on my vehicle so hopefully we can get it insured under her.

I drive a truck for a living so I probably overthink and stress about the switching your license portion of the move more than most people. None of the states reciprocate Canadian truck driving licenses anymore so basically until I’m able to get my SSN and switch over my license and redo all the testing required for a US truck driving license I will either be out of work or switching fields. I guess that’s why I’m so worried about the whole SSN and DMV process more than most people.

You might want to double check that. Im also a truck driver in Ontario and Michigan will reciprocate my Licence. So it’s not true that all the states won’t

Had my interview on the 20th and was told I was approved.  Today I got an email asking me to upload my new police certificate to CEAC and email them to notify it was done.  I've uploaded the document to CEAC and emailed them back.  Any idea how much time this is going to add?  Thanks.

Was your police certificate past the year? Or is it just because they want the new version? Im trying to figure out if I need to get the new version even though mine wont be past a year
