Hello February Crew -
I couldn't find a thread for February filers yet, so I created one. I got the reminder letter from USCIS today. My Greencard expires on 5/20. The filing date calculator on the USCIS website is not working for me but I plan on mailing my package on 2/18 (Saturday). At this moment, I am just collecting evidence and printing a lot of documents. I am happy to share the content of my package once I am done. So far, our process has been really smooth (K1 all the way through AOS without any RFE), so fingers crossed that does not change.
Here's to waiting.... Again 🍷

Woodpecker07 reacted to Rearviewmirror in I-751 ROC Filers - January 2023
Hi folks,
I figured we might have some people also gearing up to submit in January who want to get ahead of things before the holidays. I'll be submitting the second week of January and planning to send the following evidence:
I-751 G-1145 $680 filing fee check A copy of the Permanent Resident Card of the beneficiary (front and back)
A copy of petitioner’s US passport and birth certificate
A copy of beneficiary’s passport
Copy of marriage certificate
Copy of drivers licenses
Joint leases
Bank statements of joint checking, and savings accounts
Bank statements of joint credit card
Utility bills showing joint address (electricity, internet)
Car and home insurance policy documents
Beneficiary statements of retirement and investment accounts
Tax return transcripts, married filing jointly (2020 and 2021)
Photographs
Definitely not excited to be back in the waiting line of all things USCIS, but hoping there's a tiny chance I sneak into the "risk based" new approach which seems to have been lightning fast for some posters.
Good luck to all other January filers!

Woodpecker07 reacted to HRQX in Applying for K2 alone
K-2 should be issued within 12* months of the K-1 visa being printed: https://fam.state.gov/fam/09FAM/09FAM050207.html "Time Limit for Child of K-1 Fiancé(e): USCIS and the Department have agreed that the child of a K-1 principal alien may be accorded K-2 status if following to join the principal alien in the United States even after the principal alien has married the U.S. citizen fiancé́(e), and acquired Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status. However, the cutoff date for issuance of a K-2 visa is one year from the date of the issuance of the K-1 visa to the principal alien. For the purpose of calculating the one-year period, the date of printing shall be considered the date of issuance. After one year, the U.S. citizen petitioner or the alien, (prior K-1 visa holder), if qualified, must file an immediate relative or second preference petition for the K-1's child. With the exception of paragraph (d) below, no additional exceptions are possible."
*for certain applicants that were affected by the Pandemic it's 18 months: "(d) Temporary Extension of Time Limit for Certain K-2 Applicants/Visa holders Child During COVID-19 Pandemic from 12 Months to 18 Months"

Woodpecker07 reacted to Chancy in Applying for K2 alone
Yes, it's possible to apply for K2 after the K1 visa holder has already entered the US, assuming the child was listed in the I-129F petition and the child is below 21 years old. That's the K2 follow-to-join process.
But the family needs to start the K2 visa application process as soon as possible because the K2 visa can only be issued within 1 year of the mother's K1 visa issue date. After 1 year, the child cannot get a K2 visa anymore. An I-130 petition must be filed to begin the child's immigrant visa process.

My SSN card didn't arrive in the mail. I had to call the local SSA office and checked on the status. I made an appointment, went to the office and found out I was already in the system. I asked them for my SSN when I was there. It took less than a week for the card to be mailed.

Hello, everyone!
I have a doubt... Yesterday I received an update notification in my case I-765 and appears “New Card is being produced”.
My question is whether together with the employment authorization I will send my travel permit and SSN?
As I ask for all that. But in my account the I-131 has not yet been updated (travel document).

Hey Everyone,
I haven't updated here in a bit but finally have an update on the I-765 EAD and I-131 AP. Both have been approved and a new card is being produced. The I-485 is still in "Ready to schedule interview" stage but Sacramento California is known to take a long time so I am fully expecting up to 2 years wait. My spouse is just happy that she will be able to work and we can visit her family.
Also, it took me having to contact a Congressman to get movement. I Contacted my congressman regarding the case status for both I-131 and I-765 and maybe 2 hours later they reach out to me to advise they will reach out to USCIS. Later that evening, I got an update from USCIS that a new card is being produced for I-765 and today I got an email for both the I-131 and I-765 saying status changed to Approved. It seems that my case was ready to be approved but was just sitting there waiting for someone to actually touch the case.
Good luck everyone! Hopefully I will have an update on the greencard earlier than 2 years.

Finally got my interview scheduled on May the 4th (be with you)! It changed status to interview was scheduled a week after I did my biometrics and then got my schedule notice about a week after. EAD also updated to show fingerprints was taken. I might be getting my I-485 approved before my EAD. So happy to finally see the end of this long wait.

Oh yes! Interviews/approvals for May filers! Last successful interviews I've heard about were April 1st (they got their combo card a couple of weeks before their interviews).

Thanks for keeping us posted. So no news on I-485 interviews/approvals in the FB group?
Also, are you guys familiar with this website (http://www.greencardly.com/#/field_offices/MIL/Milwaukee,WI)? It has some great data visualization and information coming directly from USCIS' status tracker. It seems that most of the AOS recent approvals in the MKE office are from Feb 2020.

You need biometrics first, because they're applied to your I-765 before they approve it. (I'm not in Waukesha)

Woodpecker07 reacted to DanJS in Milwaukee Area - Biometrics appointment
It depends (as almost everything in this process). From what I’ve seen around, family-based filings seem to need biometrics before their I-765 is processed. Some work-based filings (including mine) have received their combo cards before biometrics. So, if yours is a family-based filing, then you’ll likely need to wait for your bio appt.

Just got an update, the i485 interview has been scheduled! It's crazy how fast this is moving now, especially considering how long the wait for biometrics was!
Now just to wait for the official notice to know when the date is 😄
