  1. Yee-HAAAAA! [Note to T-B.'s self: Jokes worked again... jokes worked again... ]
  2. Another item, presuming that you're not exceptionally senior in terms of work experience, is to have your university transcripts formally evaluated in terms of U.S. credits and coursework. Not every U.S. employer will understand (or take the time to deduce) which of your courses are relevant in qualifying you for employment. I remember two outfits that do this sort of evaluation, but not their names.
  3. A hijack post has been removed. Feel free to start your own thread.
  4. Old thread is now closed to further comment.
  5. Really happy for everyone here. Pulling for you.
  6. Thread is moved from the CR-1 Process forum to the CR-1 Case Progress subforum.
  7. phuonglinhtran888, welcome to the forum! This thread was last touched in August 2023, and the original poster hasn't logged on to VJ since September 2024, so we're closing the thread. You're welcome to start a new thread of your own.
  8. We need more VJ threads like this. Great input from so many.
  9. Really nice report! Thanks for your effort in producing it. --- Thread is shifted from the K-1 Process forum to the K-1 Case Progress subforum.
  10. It was LPoP, so no one read it, si and no see man.

  12. Listen to pushbrk (always). Further to above comments, it's always better to bring too much and not need it than the converse.
  13. Negative only if an interview were to be scheduled during the absence, but that sounds like a nonissue.
  14. Not yet mentioned: European CVs tend to be in vastly different format in comparison with U.S. CVs. Look online for tips and examples. Thought from a devious mind: After you attend your first or second function, take copies of your CV to the Chamber of Commerce events, find the most high-ranking, impressive attendees (perhaps in your desired field), and say, "I'm new to the U.S. and not quite yet eligible to work, but I'm hoping that you'll consent to look over my CV and give me feedback on format and content in terms of what would appeal to YOU if my CV landed on your desk. This will be different from the dreary job of reviewing those from current applicants, because I want only the benefit of your experience and wisdom." This will flatter your target, get you some actual feedback, and plant many positive subconscious seeds in your target's mind. Afterward, you can thank your target by saying, "I learned this and this and this from you, and I'm so grateful for your generosity with your experience and time!" You'll almost be able to wager cash money that you'll be distinctly remembered, and you can later contact the target for a direct job or for referrals to hiring authorities in his/her network.
  15. Everyone should bring everything that verifies a bona fide relationship and adequate finances.
  16. By the way, after you've filed for AOS, your legal status here in the Colonies will be "applicant for Adjustment," or, more concisely, "Adjustment applicant." This comes from a lawyer whom I consulted back when Mrs. T-B. was in this situation. Addendum to earlier post: The YouTube video ("Busted") is highly informative, even for native Colonists. I try to watch it every 6 months or so, to remind myself of important things.
  17. Thread is moved from the "AOS from K Visas" main forum to the Working & Traveling forum.
  18. Excellent recommendations by EatBulaga. 1. You can also study videos to help your acclimation to U.S. laws, which differ greatly from those you're used to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqMjMPlXzdA and http://www.aclu.org/files/kyr/kyr_english.pdf 2. In regard to preparing yourself for employment, networking -- especially in advance -- is crucial. Here's information posted years ago by a now-inactive member: --- Each city has a chamber of commerce. Find it. Once you find it - talk with the secretary - tell her you want a schedule of events and let her know you'd like to attend. Then - go in person to the Chamber of Commerce Office - talk with the President of the Chamber, tell him/her you want to volunteer at several of their events. Attendees at chamber events are business owners and sales geeks, all looking for new business. It usually is an informal-enough gathering where you can approach people and talk with them. Now, the cool thing about being a volunteer there - is that you will be talking to everyone at least once - you might be at the reception table, you might be at the greeters' table, you might help to run the audio/video system - whatever - but - the point is that you can meet everyone there, face to face. Attend 2 or 3 of these, and folk remember you. When folk remember you, they will remember you are seeking employment and will consider you, because you're just not some name on a piece of paper - they met you at a chamber event and know that you were volunteering, helping out the chamber. Go Get Em, and Good Luck! PS - live in a really small town? go to the biggest town that's within 15 miles of your house. --- Addendum: Your UK dialect might serve to charm the Colonists at these functions.
  19. Thread is moved from the Student & Exchange Visitor Visas forum to the Social Security Numbers subforum. Welcome to the forum! The original poster hasn't logged on to VJ since November, so a direct response may be unlikely. Perhaps someone else can suggest a solution.
  20. You see? You can rely on VJ members to provide trustworthy information. Sounds delicious! You perhaps have a future with the State Tourism office. Really appreciate your updated report. Makes me want to visit Wyoming even more than I want to already.
  21. CBP at the POE can ask the same questions as a consular officer can, and can refuse entry. However, CBP rarely does this, because the entrant has so recently been vetted at the consulate. In rare instances. One memorable instance was when a K-1 entrant joked in answer to the "do you plan to marry within 90 days" standard question, and he was turned around and sent back. Avoid joking; answer what's asked, and volunteer no further information unless asked.
  22. True, and the question is how to handle the real motive definitively. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boulder Terrorist Gets 118 Charges, Yet His Real Motive Is Still Being Ignored Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national who had overstayed his visa, has now been saddled with 118 criminal charges, including 28 counts of attempted murder, for throwing Molotov cocktails last Sunday at a group of people who were peacefully marching to advocate for the release of the Israeli hostages Hamas seized on Oct. 7, 2023. He is also facing federal hate crime charges, as he was clearly intending to target Jews. Yet while we have come a long way from last Sunday, when Boulder police chief Steve Redfearn insisted that Soliman's motive was not yet known, his real motive has not yet been confronted, and likely never will be. 23. Who's Paying for the Violent L.A. Protests Against ICE? You Are. And It Gets Worse From There The left threw violent anti-immigration protests in seven different areas of Los Angeles beginning on Friday, and you'll never guess who paid for it. If you guessed "you," you are right. Not only are taxpayers paying for the initial ICE raids, which netted 44 illegal aliens, but we're paying for the police, sheriff's deputies, enhanced California Highway Patrol, and the federal response to the violent protests against the ICE raids, too. But that's only the half of it. Most Americans are only too willing to pay for law enforcement, but it turns out that you're also paying for the L.A. immigration protesters, too! But that's not the worst of it, so you'll just have to keep on reading. 24. That's good news about the safety aspect. A lot of these travel advisories are overblown or too "blanket." Be aware that Juarez is the only consulate where K-1 & CR-1 interviews are conducted.

"Throw Teddy" was a game wherein we, then-Mrs.-T-B., & Mini-B. tried to bean each other with Teddy, si man. Mini-B. joined in this round, lasted quite a long time man.
