Wondering if anyone has any recent experience with time from approval at the interview to receipt of visa packet/passport. We are going through thr Montreal Consulate. I have read up to 3 weeks but wondering if anyone has had a shorter turnaround.

    Thank you!
    Steph

Montréal seems to be shipping Visa’s out on Friday. I had my interview on a Monday, it was shipped out that Friday.  Someone I know had their interview that Wednesday and their passport was also shipped out Friday.  I chose Purolator and had mine Monday; they chose Canada Post pickup location and had theirs Tuesday.  It has been quick.   👍🏻

If I may, I suggest you call directly CBP at your POE. I called them several times before deciding to import the car and they've always been friendly and responsive. Explain your situation and ask them what would be required (incl. TPMS) to import your vehicle to the States. Since you'll be crossing through their POE, they should be able to confirm. The discrepancy and inconsistency often come from the POE that is involved with the import which results in different scenarios as you've read online.

That’s a really great suggestion; I will definitely do that.  I just googled Peace  Arch contact and a 1-800 number came up! Will give that a whirl when I’m back in BC.  Any other info you think is useful for me about the car, please send me a message! Always open to ideas and suggestions. Good luck next week and I will be awaiting your post.

Good luck for tomorrow's interview. If you intend to import your car, TPMS appears to be a must have and it has been discussed in other threads. It looks like it depends on your car model, manufacturer, etc. If you wish to install after market's TPMS, it doesn't seem to be as straight forward and easy but there are ways around it based on what I've read. I suggest you search for it on VJ forums. You could use your car for 1 year indeed but you'd need to register it after that if you intend to keep it, and it is where TPMS becomes a requirement.

Thank you! Can’t wait for it to be complete.  :-)) I agree with you about the TPMS issue not being straight forward. I did a lot of reading on here a few days ago about people who got after market and had no issues getting through, yet others, rightfully so,  saying after market isn’t allowed.   I’m really not sure what to do at this point. It’s not a huge expense to get the aftermarket.  Maybe I’ll give that a whirl and see...worse case scenario Its not accepted and I have a year to sort it out.

Our car is a 2020 model which is automatically equipped with tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Also, the speedometer can switch from km/h to mph. These are compliant with US requirements.

Ah ok! I have the kms/miles but not the TPMS. I plan on crossing in April via a BC border - Interview is tomorrow.  So sorting out what to do with my car.  At least I can use it for 1 year.

I'll be crossing the border at Peach Arch this coming Friday 2/26. I'll activate my visa and import my vehicle at same time. My household will be shipped with Trans Canada Movers a few days before me. If it helps, I'll post a review once I'm on the other side for those who plan to do land border crossing in the near future. I'll share pertinent info/details. I'll also post an update once I receive my SSN and GC.

Can you please advise if your car had the tire pressure thingy and If not, what you did and how it turned out? Thanks!

So I just contacted Dr Cheema and he said they will administer Tdap and MMR for $45 each. Haven't asked for the flu shot but seems like according to FAQ's it is still required if interview is in March, so will request that too!

I had the flu shot at Doctor Cheema’s office 2 weeks ago and it was $25. You can get it free at Shoppers, or the like - it was convenient for me so I paid;  I was secretly hoping I wouldn’t have to get one, since we’re waiting for the Covid vaccination and there really hasn’t been a ‘typical flu’ season - but alas.....I had the others done at the travel clinic during the early part of the lockdown and it was more expensive then Dr Cheema.  👍🏻

That's exactly what I did when I requested a new one last month as my previous one had expired, and the RCMP office had no issue with understanding or ensuring I would receive one with subtype "other". Also, you may find that some offices still use the old name for the overall application type (e.g. Privacy Act vs the new name: Criminal Record Check for Personal Use), but you can be assured that your certificate will state the new application name type when it's delivered to you. Good luck!

I just finished up -  it will have ‘OTHER’ and he added the repository holding message.    He thinks I’ll have it before I leave - COME ON CANADA POST.   🤞🏻

It all has to do with the boxes you or the Commissaires or ___ check on the submission to RCMP. Showing the fingerprint tech the images from the spreadsheet with the correct ones as a guide could help. And read over the FAQ.

I’m going to get it redone in an hour!   Will show them the letter I have, the example with OTHER, the notations under the FAQS, along with the page from the actual government site.  Better to be safe than sorry!  Thanks again.

  9. Hi - further to criminal record check question - this is what mine says - in photo  - I was reading elsewhere and it was stated ‘OTHER’ is accepted but ‘For Non Certified Criminal Information’  is preferred.  Really having a hard time getting a straight answer about this.  Anyone else have a certificate with the same wording on it as the one I have? My presumption was to bring all documents uploaded during the DS260 process, which includes this criminal record check that I have.

People here with experience are of the opinion that this is the wrong one. Consulate has also denied this one. This is accepted by NVC but consulate asks for one which says ---- "Other (Provide details)". Suggest you get a new one.

The fingerprinter was kind enough to tell me, that "for non-certified criminal information." does not include sealed / suspended sentences whereas "Other(Provide details)" does, so kinda makes sense that the preference is for wholesome record.

Thanks! All the posts I read about this had OTHER - I will get a new one.

Yikes, just got two emails from Air Canada rescheduling my Montreal flights.  Mini heart attack as I read "Flight AC000 has changed and you have been rebooked" but while my new flights are at crappier times and with connections, they're on the same days.

Yikes! I am worried about flights from YVR, as I am flying for my interview that’s on FEB 22nd. I was actually going to book 2 days in advance - fly there Saturday for my Monday interview.  Did you get switched to a connecting flight? I was going to book the 0830AM ......

Is this just from the self reported data in the spreadsheet?

In the spreadsheet there are color-coded groups in the IL and Interview columns estimating the interview letter dates, does anyone know where these estimates are based off of?

You can see on the spreadsheet the interviews that were scheduled and count how many per month. It’s like 23-28  - and it’s a good indication of where the consulate is at in the process. You can also see how many are DQ’d per month and guesstimate going forward.

Thanks. This is what I had in mind last month but it looks like they just sent way less interviews letters than the last month. 🤞And congrats to everyone who received one 🎉😃 feels good to see it's moving forwards for some of us 🙂

They actually sent out quite a few letters today, but covering fewer dates.  There were many people DQ’d in May/June.  It thins out after beginning of June.
