they dont accept check anymore since 10/29/25. only g1450 (credit card) or g1650 (ACH) -
Marriage certificate is indeed legal document to show that someone take their spouse last name. Name change in the eye of USCIS = U change ur first name or middle name too. But if you just “change” your last name to match ur spouse, that means you “Take” ur spouse last name. I know it’s a bit complicated but i hope u understand what i meant. I-94, check on CBP website (online)

So confused about taxes and N400 form
Verrou replied to camerica's topic in Tax & Finances During US Immigration
Always file with IRS tax transcripts. here’s why. Think of it this way: an IRS tax transcript is like a store receipt. It proves that you already completed the transaction. Your Form 1040 only shows what you filled out, but it’s not proof that you actually filed your taxes, if that makes sense. I’ve helped about 50 people file over the past few years, and my motto is always to overwhelm USCIS with strong evidence to avoid an RFE. I don’t like to “hold” evidence for the interview. I want to get approved right away. You can file now with your 2022, 2023, and 2024 tax transcripts. It’s understandable that you don’t need to submit your 2025 tax transcript yet since you have until April 15, 2026, to file that one. N-400 is the only form that im comfortable to file online. The rest ? All paper including i-751 P.S. I just filed mine less than two weeks ago too, and yes I submitted 5 years of IRS tax transcript because im OCD and I’ve been filing jointly with my spouse that long -
Be prepared for anything. A friend of mine with a similar situation (I-751 combo with N-400) had trouble at the USCIS office in Jacksonville, FL back in 2022. The security officers wouldn’t let her in, even though she brought her spouse’s deployment orders, he was stationed in Korea at the time. She begged and cried, but the security wouldn’t budge. Fortunately, an immigration officer happened to walk by, asked what was going on, and told the security to let her in. He ended up being the officer who interviewed her. During the interview, he mentioned that he had once been deployed to Korea himself, so he understood her situation. After the interview, he rushed her case so she could take the oath ceremony the same day. She was the last person to walk in. So if they don’t let you in, demand to speak with a supervisor. Good luck!

Nickname on I751
Verrou replied to Deejee's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Still the same name just short for the full name. My suggestion, don’t worry about it. If your name is canshiri but your nickname is Johnny, that can be considered a new name or nickname. -
Nickname on I751
Verrou replied to Deejee's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
I wouldn’t put Nat under nickname. And it’s totally normal and common that Nat is short from Natalie. -

Rescheduling biometrics more than 3 weeks
Verrou replied to a89syd9a's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
just to be clear, what are u trying to do? reschedule a biometric appointment at USCIS office ? as far as i know, u cant "choose" bio appointment rescheduling date. or did i get ur question wrong? -
i really thought as in "fraud" question, that is my understanding. edit. i saw it's n-400 question. i filed many n-400 marriage base, and i always choose : NO. they all got their citizenship

It’s recognized by other government agencies because the marriage certificate is a legal document proving the name change. Although “changing your name” and “taking your spouse’s name” seem the same to us, government agencies treat them differently. The officer is correct about the uncertainty, as my research also revealed that confusion. When someone takes their spouse’s name upon marriage and then divorces, they can easily revert to their maiden name. In contrast, since I pursued a formal name change through probate court, katering my middle name and adopting my husband’s last name (which has the same meaning as my father’s original last name), I cannot simply revert to my maiden name if we divorce, because a judge approved it. This makes sense given the judicial process involved. I’m not planning to revert to my maiden name anyway, because it holds no meaning in my own family (long story). By the way, you can always change your name at probate court after naturalizing if it’s cheap enough in your county. You don’t need to apply for a new naturalization certificate because the court order is the legal document proving you’re the same person. I did it before filing because I just wanted everything to match in the future.

Well did u change ur name in the end or u cancel the name change part ? If you change ur name, u need to see before judge for judicial oath ceremony. U can’t do administrative oath ceremony (USCIS officer ). It’s right if you did change ur name, it can delay the oath ceremony especially in small city like my city 😂 if you just take ur spouse last name and u have marriage certificate to prove it, it’s not considered name change, so USCIS officer can do oath ceremony for u. that’s why I decide to change my name in probate court. Only $85 in my county. I filed on 12/23. I will see the judge tomorrow and will get the court order same day, then I will apply for n-400. My early filing window open yesterday. But if u decide not to change ur name, that means ur field office just busy.

Do asylum officers normally detect fraud?
Verrou replied to cindy28's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
most asylum cases are denied due to bogus asylum cases. read this : https://www.aila.org/library/a-fiefdom-on-long-island-an-investigation-into-the-culture-and-practices-of-the-new-york-asylum-office i happened to be interviewed in the same asylum field office. even when i can answer all the questions flawlessly my case still referred to immigration court (removal proceeding). at the court she will have to attend master calendar hearing just to set the date of individual hearing. it can be 6 months to - 5 years and often the court reschedule the hearing due to various reason for example : IJ passed away, IJ moved/retired etc etc. -

The moment you hired an attorney, just submit the G28 on the portal if possible. And also bring that form on the interview
