We filed for K1-based AOS in February and I was shocked to receive our I-485 approval notice in the mail today.  Green card should be arriving Tuesday.  We seemed to get extremely lucky by not having to interview.

Managed to snag an interview slot for Sept 20.  There was still one more left on that day and some more available on Sept 27.  Looks like the embassy is doing K1s only on Mondays due to the latest Covid wave.

Did you receive an email from the embassy stating that they are ready to schedule an interview appointment?  If so, then you can pay the $265 visa fee by following the instructions posted on the UStraveldocs website.  But even if you do pay the fee now, the embassy has temporarily closed interview appointment scheduling.  It's probably a good idea to pay the visa fee now so you are ready to take any available appointment slots as they open.

Our case finally went to Ready this week.  I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but I did call NVC again at the beginning of the week and spoke to a Supervisor.  Received an email from NVC later that day confirming our case was sent to the embassy back in March.  Lo and behold the next day we got an email from the embassy notifying us that they were ready to proceed processing our case!  Unfortunately there are no interview appointment slots available at the moment...

Still it was a huge relief to know our case wasn't lost.  If you're in the same position as we were, don't lose hope.

Our case has been In Transit for over 3 months and we have been getting the No Data result on the CEAC tracker for well over a month.  I sent an email to the embassy again this week and got the same semi-automatic reply that others have mentioned (they claim they haven't received our case yet).  I then called NVC to see if I could get some information about where our case actually is.  The woman on the line did some digging and from what she could see, our case might not have been sent to the embassy.  She explained that cases are sent from NVC to the embassy both electronically and physically by courier.  It's possible, she said, that the case was flagged as In Transit but someone forgot to click the electronic send button.  She couldn't see enough information on her end to see what really happened, so she referred our case to a supervisor.  That person is supposed to send an email to me once they have completed their investigation.  Pretty worrying if the NVC is really this incompetent

Anyway I thought I'd share this since others might be in the same boat as us.  It may be a good idea to call up the NVC hotline to do some digging.

I had the same issue with not being able to track where our case was. A few days ago the embassy said it wasn't in their records, and the online status check went from "In Transit" to no info being found at all. It might just be a coincidence, but after sending emails to both the embassy and NVC about this, just yesterday our case went to "Ready" status and we received the confirmation email from the embassy. Finally!

Definitely not fun, but if you're still waiting, hope this assures you that they will get to your case eventually... 😅

I believe that when cases started arriving, some people were lucky enough to be put at the front of the line.  There was a glitch with the website such that when you paid the visa fee, the website would let you schedule an interview.  Now they changed the website so it asks you whether you received an email from them which I believe, for the most part, is in order.  It is very frustrating especially seeing they only processed 37 K1s in February and over twice as many non-family J1 visas.  They are supposed to make family visas the priority.

I will explain what is going on with that.  When the BKK embassy started requesting more K1s from the NVC, they asked for all of them at one time.  I was even surprised to see our case that just arrived at the NVC, get In-Transit to Bangkok so quickly.  You can image when they get hundreds of cases arriving at one time that they can’t all be processed upon receipt.  Therefore, they get put in a pile.  My case has been In-Transit since 2/4.  Many others have been in transit since 1/25.  Therefore, in normal times with no backlog, your idea of using DHL is legit.  But right now, they are arrived but just waiting to be processed and sitting in a large pile.

Key Takeaway: On or after March 9, 2021, applicants and petitioners should not provide information required solely by the Public Charge Final Rule. That means that applicants for adjustment of status should not provide the Form I-944, Declaration of Self-Sufficiency, or any evidence or documentation required on that form with their Form I-485.

If you received a Request for Evidence (RFE) or Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID) requesting information that is solely required by the Public Charge Final Rule, including but not limited to Form I-944, and your response is due on or after March 9, 2021, you do not need to provide the information solely required by the Public Charge Final Rule

We will issue additional guidance regarding the use of affected forms. Until then, USCIS will not reject any Form I-485 based on the inclusion or exclusion of Form I-944. We also will not reject Form I-129, Form I-129CW, Form I-539, or Form I-539A based on whether the public benefits questions (Form I-129 (Part 6), Form I-129CW (Part 6), Form I-539 (Part 5), and Form I-539A (Part 3)) have been completed or left blank.

    The I-944 is officially dead.

These are items that everyone asks for, so I thought I just post a PDF of them here for you to refer to when it's necessary. If you are new to this thread please read as these are most asked questions multiple times.

My case is in transit to the BKK embassy for the last two weeks.  There are probably many others as well since there is a backlog.  It states to contact the embassy for status when In-Transit exceeds four weeks.  I am completing the rest of the forms and paid the fee.  When the fee is paid, it allows you to schedule an interview but they embassy does not want anyone to schedule until the case is received and they send an email.  But, from my observation, only March is open at this time with the earliest appointment on March 16. Interviews are Mondays and Tuesdays only.  It looks like there may be 10 openings per day typically.  I am surprised that with all the In-Transit cases, there are not more people communicating an interview.  But, I know from postings on FB, that others are having interviews in February and March.  The embassy probably does not want to open April until March is near full because there are still many openings available.

In the last full fiscal year before Covid (FY2019), the Bangkok embassy issued 855 K1 visas, which would mean they were averaging 3 or 4 K1 interviews per work day.  Since Covid the number of K1 petitions has decreased, so I am hopeful that the backlog can be worked through expeditiously.

I’m also applicant from Thai. Our case transfer to Embassy like you. Now the only thing you have to do is filled ds-160, make an travel docs account and paid the fees. After you paid the fees you will get the email notice about you can make appointment with the link on it but that one actually is for a tourist not for K don’t book it. So you have to wait the Embassy send you an email that you can make appoint which they will leave the link for appoint schedule at the email when they contact you. Some of people get it today. Most of people still wait.

ps. Many people who dont know paid the fees and booked the appointment themselves got cancel because that one is for b1/b2
