They are super quick.  Just received my package and passport back with the visa in it. appointment was monday 11:30 and have received all my docs and visa by friday 12:30!

I’m hoping the “interview Monday, visa by Friday” lightening strikes twice! My husband had his interview and was approved yesterday so it would be wonderful if we could start finalising plans by the weekend. Congrats on having yours in hand! Do you know when you’ll be coming to the states yet?

I’ve not heard of the embassy reaching out to expedited people to book an interview. If your husband wants something in writing I’d recommend you use their contact form, that way they have to email back. I’ve even booked my interview today without contacting them, but may get in touch to confirm I’m good to go once it hits London

It was most convenient because I needed to give plenty of notice for the day off work. But there were so many dates that she told me “tell us what day you want because we have lots” and I had a ton of times to pick from as well.

I know that we are supposed to schedule our own interview but I was under the impression that we would receive an email with instructions for how to schedule our interview and medical. Our case is officially marked as “ready” and he emailed them on Friday so hopefully we get a response soon. I understand him being cautious but I’m just ready to have it on the calendar 😂 That’s so exciting that you were able to book your interview as well! What date did you select?

I already paid for the courier service. With that said, if the passport was ready on Monday, I'd be flying to New York on Tuesday.

I'll enquire and see if it's possible in the same day. Obviously I'll post my findings.

That’s so exciting! I know this has been a long time coming for you and your spouse so it’s great to see that you’re nearly there.

Just called and booked my medical for 31st July!! I explained that I don't have an interview date yet but my case is expedited and showing as In Transit on CEAC,  and I want to make sure I have my medical results in time for my interview so I'm not sat in Administrative Processing. They were really helpful and happy to book it for me.

It's very bittersweet because I'm so excited that this is finally happening after so long in this process, but I'm also very sad because I wish more people in this forum could get their cases moving forward again and be able to feel the same excitement as me.

Congrats! My husband is insisting upon waiting for the embassy to contact him by email before he schedules, he’s so worried about doing anything if it’s not in writing. I’m hoping we hear from the embassy early next week so we can get the ball rolling. Was that the nearest appointment available or was it just the date most convenient for you?

    Interview on Monday!

Just checked into hotel, around the corner from US Embassy in London.

Can't wait to get this done with.

Would be awesome if I got my passport back the same day, but not making plans for that to happen.

Best of luck!! I can’t wait to hear how it goes! Is there ever a chance that you get your passport back same day? I’d always assumed it was sent via courier no matter what.

Thanks so much, that's really kind of you!

I'm just looking at your timeline, I'm assuming you expedited before you got DQ as it left NVC only a few days after case complete?

Will definitely be following your timeline too to see when you get your interview date if that's okay? I'm interested to see if it'll be by email or if embassy call to schedule it as I've heard different things from different posts.

We submitted our expedite before DQ but had it approved the day after we got our DQ notice from the NVC. We got so many emails in the span of one week that it was hard to keep everything straight!
no problem at all, I typically update my timeline right away. My husband is calling the embassy tomorrow to see if he can get more information about scheduling, he wants to have it in writing what he’s expected to do. I’ve only ever heard of the embassy emailing but I’ll keep ya posted!

also, you’ll probably get an email In the next few days saying that your interview with the nvc was “cancelled” - this is normal and I don’t want you panicking like I did! This happens for expedited cases because they have to clear out any interviews that may or may not be scheduled so that you can book your own ☺️

I woke up this morning to the news that our expedite was approved!! I'm so happy!!

We already had a conditional expedite accepted on March 31st, stating that it would be sent to my Embassy (London) once they resume normal visa services.

Because our reason for expedite was partly time sensitive, we decided to chance it and submit another expedite request last Monday, fully expecting them to refuse it. We noted in our email that we already had a conditional expedite but were requesting it be escalated to unconditional. We also added in why we felt me being expedited was in the national interest which I personally think is something they take very heavily into consideration and is what tipped them to accept it in our case.

If anyone has questions I'm happy to answer.

I hope this helps some people and gives hope to those who are considering submitting another request. I know not all Embassies will reconsider it, but it might be worth a shot.💙

Congrats! We had our case expedited by London as well (medical/financial hardship). It seems like we are just a week or so ahead of where you are so if you have any questions for what comes next, let me know! 💕

  8. Just to update from a conversation I had with the NVC today:

    1. If you’re case is expedited, it is common for the system to automatically send an email saying that your interview is cancelled, even if one was never scheduled. The reason for this is to ensure that there are no pending interviews when your case is transferred to the embassy, as you are responsible for scheduling your own interview when you are expedited on a IR/CR1 visa.
    2. Having documents (for us, it was the AOS) suddenly appear as incomplete after you have already received DQ is a system bug and is perfectly normal.  The person that I spoke to at the NVC said that this is caused by the system repopulating options that are not applicable for your case (such as sponsor information when no sponsor is needed, etc.) and can be ignored if you have already received your DQ email.

I hope this helps! Thanks to everyone that gave suggestions and feedback on this.

Thanks. Happy to spread good news! I was scratching my head over that cancelled appointment email.

There were quite a few date available, I snagged the first one, which was 9.30 on the 20th.

My “left NVC” date on my timeline was the day they agreed to expedite, maybe that was premature, I don’t know. It showed “in transit” for about a day before it changed to “ready”.

I got my medical done ten days ago. I was in New York for three months prior, so I had to self isolate in a hotel not far from Visa Medicals. They are pretty efficient there, but they should be for 350GBP!

Can’t stress enough, once your case reaches London, reach out to them using the contact us bit on their website, stating that your case is expedite, its been sent to London, and they have it. I feel as though I sped things up for myself there by a few days. You will have to make the appointment yourself, I imagine the same way that K1 does it. It’s not rocket science, but if you need any help send me a direct message.

Yeah I ended up giving the nvc a ring to figure it out, apparently it’s something the system does automatically to clear out any potential interviews already scheduled by the NVC, though I imagine those are far and few between right now. She said that everything is getting prepped to be sent over, so your guess was pretty spot on!
Your logic about the nvc left date makes sense, I just wanted to get an estimation for us based on your timeline so it’s sounds like we are really close!
How did you manage to book and have your medical already? I had thought that we had to wait until we received our interview notice before we could schedule. The cost of the medical is absolutely insane but I’m glad to hear that they’re at least efficient. I’m hoping that we can get through that before the interview so that everything is done and dusted once the interview is over.
Thanks for the tip - I will be watching the status update like a hawk next week.

I had this too. Was very weird. The next day the Embassy in London received.

I reconciled this as having to do that step in order to forward my documents to the embassy.

I just booked my interview they have dates for w/c July 20.

Edit - my case was expedited after being DQ too.

Oh wow, that's excellent news! I can't believe they have dates open for this month, I surely thought that we would be into end of August/September by the time we were able to book. Congrats on getting your interview date - I've seen you on the UK forum before and I know this has been a long time coming for you! I saw on your timeline that you listed your NVC left date. Was this the date that you received your expedite approval or was this the day that your status showed as in transit/ready? Were you able to get your medical booked between now and then or will you be attending that after your interview?

Cheers for the response, you made my day!

If your expedite was approved yesterday and you got a cancellation today ...could it be they are related?

I am not sure. The status tracker still has our application at the NVC. This is what the email said:

We previously notified you of the date and time of your immigrant visa interview at the U.S.Embassy/Consulate General in LONDON, GRBR.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to cancel this interview. We will schedule a new interview appointment as soon as possible and notify you of the date and time. There is no need for you to take action at this time.

Exactly.........the interview will now be scheduled directly with or by the consulate instead of NVC.  I would contact the consulate if I were the OP.

    Great, thanks so much!

  12. Hello all,

This morning we received an interview cancellation email from the NVC, We are very confused because a, we never had an interview scheduled with the NVC, and b, our expedite request was approved yesterday so we will not even be going through the NVC for an interview date.

Additionally, we were DQ by the NVC prior to receiving our expedite request and had submitted all of our forms/had them accepted. Now the CEAC site lists our AOS as incomplete.

Has anyone else had this happen? Should we contact the NVC or our embassy (Great Britain)?

    Thanks so much!

Is there a specific page I need to go to to request for expedite? My case is at the NVC still?

    Thanks in advance.

For our expedite request, I sent an email to nvcexpedite@state.gov. In this email, I provided our case number, my name and date of birth, and my husband’s name and date of birth. As the reason for our request was primarily medical-based, I included a letter from my doctor as evidence. Include whatever evidence you see fit pertaining to your reason for expedite. I sent the email on Monday, June 29th, received notice that they were reviewing it on Thursday, July 3rd, and had the expedite approved today.
    I hope this helps!

Just to keep you updated, it finally worked! We had to leave it a few days and use the site like late at night US time (or rather my wife did, I'm in the UK) and it's finally worked! Thank you so much for your help. Your suggestion about bringing it to the interview was gonna be what we proposed to them on the phone if it still wasn't working, although I gotta say bringing my father in laws birth certificate around with me would have been a strange way around it. We've been finding the mail takes ages to get from the uk to the US and vice versa at the moment, so I gotta wonder if that way would have worked but damn, worth a shot to be home to my wife a little sooner.

Anyway, thank you again! I'll be hovering around this thread but best of luck with getting yourselves sorted too, and let me know if I can help you with anything too! :D

Congrats! Did you get DQ yet or still waiting for them to look over anything? Yeah, trusting the US mail system at the moment is a bit of a gamble - I mailed my husband some of the things he may need for the interview and it took nearly two weeks. Best of luck to you, hopefully I’ll see ya over on the Complete to Interview forum soon ☺️

hi! I heard back after 9 days that we were approved, so wait a little longer! If approved, you will email or call the embassy to see if they received your application from NVC, and schedule the appt with them.

That’s not too bad at all! I emailed them a week ago Monday and got an email Thursday morning that they were reviewing our request. Thanks for the help ☺️

  16. I’m wondering if anyone here that has been expedited can help me understand the process a bit better.
We submitted an expedite request to the NVC on Monday (on the grounds of medical and financial hardships) and have not heard back yet, but I want to make sure we are prepared if things work in our favour. I am aware that expedites are approved by the embassy where you will be interviewing. If the expedite request is approved, are you then responsible for scheduling your own interview? I’ve seen mention of people needing their interview letter to book their physical - is this true? I’d love to hear any other input or experience that people have had with this process. Thanks so much, I’m so glad to have found this community :)

We are in the home stretch indeed, silly that it's something as fickle as a slightly blurry birth certificate that's causing this hold up. We're now into day four of this error not letting us do anything... Surely there's something they can do to fix this? 😕

Wow, that’s a bit silly. I can’t even imagine, I was freaking out and it only took us the better part of a day to get it sorted. Have you attempted to get into the site from a different browser (chrome, Firefox, etc.)? It might be a system update, a bug, or just lousy luck. Either way, I’d ring up the NVC on Monday and ask them what they’d recommend. If you have the originals and would be willing to bring them to the interview, maybe you’d be able to skip the upload? I know that some people had to do this with the police clearance documentation if they weren’t able to get it due to Covid. I would definitely confirm this with someone at the NVC or embassy prior to going this route though, I’m by no means an expert.
