I just got my Certificate 20 days after I got my passport. The certificate was shipped four business days after they mailed my passport… so pretty much it was the USPS taking they’re sweet time.

Applied for the passport on June 11, in person at USPS facility (Atlanta).
Got an email that they have received my application on 06/16/21.
Got an email that they have shipped my passport on 06/21/21.
Received my passport (no card or the Certificate of Naturalization yet) on 06/23/21.

It looks like they shipped the passport from Little Rock, Arkansas.

Finally! Had my Judicial Oath Ceremony this week in downtown Atlanta courthouse. There were about 50 people, masks required, socially distanced.

The whole process took two hours—from 9:30am till 11:30. The first hour and a half is to get everyone into the courtroom, seat them, and get the pronunciation of everyone’s new names. The last 30 minutes are the official ceremony with the judge, celebratory speech, etc. They do not allow guests into the courtroom with applicants but they do allow the guests to wait in the cafeteria until the ceremony is over.

After the ceremony is over (11:30 am) everyone can re-enter the courtroom (including guests and family) to take pictures so feel free to bring your guests and families.

At the ceremony you are given a bunch of flyers, brochures, and other stuff. Among them are the instructions on how to apply for the passport at the midtown USPS.

I’ve had an appointment with them scheduled for the same day… big mistake. The midtown USPS does not work by appointments and pretty much does not work at all. It took me more than THREE hours to get my turn (first come first serve ticketing system). The process to apply is just FOUR MINUTES. That’s right you have to wait three hours for just four minutes of actual work 🤦‍♂️  Btw, those morons STAPLED my new Certificate of Naturalization #######.

Anyhow, I’m happy that I’m finally a US citizen…even though I have nothing to prove it with right now since I gave my certificate to the USPS lol

Husband had interview yesterday. It went really well, they barely asked to see any documents and the test was very easy and quick for him.

Heads up: at least at the Chicago field office, don't wear a mask with a vent/exhalation valve! My husband almost got turned away from entering the building because he entered wearing such a mask and they asked him if he had a different one without the valve. Thankfully he brought 2 other masks with him (without the valve), so he was able to switch to that mask and they let him in. Just wanted to let others know!

Current status: Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled. IO said he can't say for sure but that it usually takes 1 month to schedule the oath and that the date will come in the mail with 2 weeks notice.

Congrats! Yeah, an applicant will have to pass Civics and English test during the interview.

It is nice, indeed, to see that Atlanta is moving!

If you haven't yet received a biometrics appointment you can try to contact them via your online account. I did that in October asking to get an appointment and got the generic reply back basically just telling me I was in line to be scheduled.

Then I contacted them again in December and basically said "Still no biometrics. Who do I contact about this, is it the congressman or the ombudsman?". And two weeks later I got an appointment. I bet mentioning the ombudsman got things moving a little.

I had my appointment yesterday, I was talking to a couple of people in line and they were scheduled for their first biometrics back in March 2020, which were cancelled. They didn't get new appointments until now, almost a year later. So my gut feeling is that I, as a May filer, probably wouldn't have gotten an appointment this early if it wasn't for nagging them. Especially considering the people in line were January and February filers.

That’s true. It’s the date when you can inquire about your case and they have to give your an actual answer not a generic reply. The issue with that is with Atlanta I might she stuck there for 3 years and I cannot do anything since I will still technically be within the processing time.

It does not mean that it will take necessary 3 years—it could take less time... or longer.

    Hi there.
Are you gonna change name at Oath Ceremony? I had interview on Jan 6th, looked like same day with you. I requested a name change, still waiting for the Oath Ceremony to be scheduled. How long did you get the schedule after interview?
    Thanks

I just got an email saying that they scheduled my interview. I don’t know the date because the notice is not in the documents tab yet, but I saw a biometrics reuse notice from December 30. My field office is Chicago and I filed on 04/23/2020

    Hi everyone!

I had my interview today! It was only me (no spouses allowed inside). I arrived 15 minutes early and after going through security, I checked in with an officer who entered my information to a computer, put a stamp on my interview NOA and then sent me to the second floor (Denver office). I sat for three minutes and an officer came to look for me.

The interview was very straightforward, first he asked for documents to check that my marriage was still going (I provided bank statements, home insurance and mortgage).

Then, he did the 6/10 test, the English test on a tablet (one question for reading and one for writing). Then, he went through the application questions and requested clarification on two minor things. After that, he said he would recommend me for Naturalization and asked if I wanted to become a citizen today, so I said yes.

He gave the Oath of Allegiance, I signed a couple of forms and he asked me to go out to the waiting room so he could go and get my certificate. I waited for a minute and he came out with my certificate, some paperwork (to explain how to apply for a passport, change social security, etc) and a cute US flag.

He congratulated me and I was gone in 30 minutes.

    I'm now a US Citizen!

Good luck to all of you who are still in the process. May 2021 be the year for you to also become US Citizens.

    All the best.

    Super Happy for you
    ------------------------------------------
And its once again shows how disproportionately Uscis has there timelines... its just makes no since.

    For example.

On Uscis official web site shows   Estimated time range  for Phoenix AZ  14-18 month  and "Receipt date for a case inquiry" - June 03, 2019

in the same time my  Washington DC office has Estimated time range  - 11-15.5 month and "Receipt date for a case inquiry" - August 12, 2019

Phoenix  with  longer processing time  scheduling interview   and in the same time Washington DC  with 2 month ahead dates  doing nothing ___

I have applied on March 26, 2020  --- and not even biometric appointment yet...

They are such a disgrace.. Rather than doing something to fix this problem,, their solution is to keep on meddling with the priority date. there's no guarantee the timelines won' quadruple or quintuple again and again. and it can be that none of us get to vote in 24 either.
