NVC doesn't require an address change. Address changes for petitioners is done with USCIS and for the beneficiary it's done on the DS-160 and at the interview as a confirmation step.

U.S. citizens can make a change of address on pending cases via our Online Change of Address page or by calling 1-800-375-5283. For TTY (deaf or hard of hearing) call: 1-800-767-1833.

If you were to use the "search" tool on the upper right-hand corner of any page you could find answers to this question and many others.

Thank you so much! I was able to update the address for my fiancé.

  2. Considering the hardship family members, fiancés included, have been enduring during the last months due to COVID-19, we have decided to start a petition to provide equality and solidarity to family members that haven't been considered and therefore excluded from the Coronavirus related bans.

Please, sign so we can make the difference!

  3. Good morning everyone!

I have a question regarding the address change, while the case is still at NVC.

When my fiancé (the US petitioner) and I (the alien beneficiary) filed the I-129, we provided as his residency "address x", where he was living at the time and where we were supposed to live together.

However, he moved and I would like to update his new residency and change the address related to my future one.

I am pretty confused about what we are supposed to do, since our case is still at NVC: is it enough to NVC and let them know the new address or should I file some form?

Also, when filing the DS-160 can I already provide the new address or should I use the old one?

    Thank you for your help!

According to the P3 letter it makes no mention of the type of BC you are trying to attain. Here is what the Italy P3 requests for BC's.

BIRTH CERTIFICATES: The original or certified copy of the birth certificate of each person named in the application, including the person who filed the original petition, is required. Birth records must be presented for all unmarried children under age 21, even if they do not wish to immigrate at this time (if children are deceased, so state giving year of death). The certificate must state the date and place of birth and the names of both parents. The certificate must also indicate that it is an extract from official records. If you or any children were adopted, you must submit a certified copy of the final adoption decree.

I believe what you have will be sufficient. Good luck and stay engaged.

Thank you for information! I'll maybe try again with my comune, but if they are really unable or  not willing to make a small effort, I'll keep this one that I have.

    Ciao Anna!

I am sorry they treated you like that! I have had problems in the past with the Anagrafe and the clerks too, it seems like they will do anything in their power NOT to help you out :( Anyways, I have always used my "Estratto di nascita" even for previous visas and it has always worked. I made sure to ask one with my parent's names on it and also the "modello internazionale" which shows translation in many languages below. I am not sure weather for the interview they will need one with a specific citation or not, I am not informed on that, and I was going to use my estratto di nascita anyways. Let me know if you find out something new!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am trying to understand if there is something I can do to also help my comune to get it... I do not want to risk bringing the wrong document, when I know the corret one is available!

At the end of the day, the Estratto has all the information required, however, I doubt the comune cannot do anything, because many people were able to get it...

Glad to know that the Estratto was working fine!

  6. Hey everyone! I am having a little issue with my comune di residenza.

I requested my birth certificate some time ago, making sure to cite Article 3 of Presidential Decree of May 2, 1957 (No. 432) (as stated on travel.state.gov, in the section dedicated to Birth and Death Certificates required by the Italian consulate), however, the clerk gave me my Estratto di nascita, without any reference to the article above.

Therefore, two days ago I requested my birth certificate again. Due to the current situation, I had to schedule an appointment via email, so I made sure to request the certificate with the correct citation, including screenshots from the website and even an example of a birth certificate reporting the article.

Once I went to the comune to pick everything up, I realized they gave me my Estratto di nascita without any citation AGAIN.

They told me, “very kindly”, that they just release the Estratto and they do not know anything about the citation I need.

I know that people around Italy are able to obtain the correct version fairly easily… I just wonder if someone can help find a way to get it. The email I wrote was thorough and comprehensive, showing exactly what I need, but they were refusing to take any extra step to provide me the correct version. This already happened twice and I am really frustrated.

Also, in case my comune won’t release the Certificato with the citation, will Estratto work as well?

Just venting a bit with a real question as a follow up:

I was furloughed from my job 4 weeks ago - okay, it's happening across the board. I was upset, but I get it. At least there's something to look forward to down the line...

Today, I was permanently let go because they do not foresee our business opening up before next spring (I'm in a very niche field), therefore they done want to give me false hope in case something else comes along.

Should I be worried about our visa and the lack of new income streaming in?

Hey! I am sorry to hear that... we are in such crazy time and every business tries to cope with the situation in different ways. Try to stay strong and positive!

I don't think it will be an issue. At the end of the day, you have the I-134 to prove that your fiancé(e) will be able to support you. Moreover,  you have been working up until now and we are experiencing a unique situation which is out of the ordinary. I wouldn't worry too much, but make sure to have everything in place when it comes down to the I-134 and a potential joint sponsor.

  8. MoveHub is a good starting point. You can enter your current location and choose the final one in the US, and they will provide you with quotes from different carriers, according to your specific needs. I found it useful to get a grasp of costs and requirements. Also, the advice section is really useful and helped me getting the bearings of different types of shippings available.

Ciao @anna.us 👋 For what I can see november approvals are keep coming. I guess nothing had slowed down. Instead for us in Italy it’s more difficult if we gonna get at the point at the interview, gathering all the documents, while in quarantine.

Hopefully everything will start getting better here. I want to go visit my fiancé after April 3. I already canceled a trip because of the quarantine.
     Safety first!

    @Ali&Ed thanks for the information!

I agree. My fiancé was considering visiting around Easter time but it won't be possible... we have to stay strong and positive. It's unfortunate we are living this crisis and it happend while waiting for our visa, which is a life-changing process. It's tough but we are here to support each other and we have to push through!

  10. Ciao @Manu8915, like @Ali&Ed I am waiting for NOA 2. I am getting concerned about the whole situation regarding the virus... hopefully, eventually, we are going to be able to progress along our journey.

I have been trying to figure something out, but I cannot find any solid information in regards to what's going to happen to our visas... if someone happens to find some information, please share here on the forum 🙏

Wish everybody luck and hopefully we can update each other as things evolve.

Nothing here to do uless you get a RFE to answer. The petitioner will complete financials for the interview.  That's where you will update your case.

Ok, I see. Basically, when we take care of the affidavit of support, I can explain my personal situation better.

I am aware that my financial situation doesn't matter that much, but my concern lies in the fact that I do not know if USCIS  would consider my previous unemployment a red flag for public charge.

  12. Hello everyone!

Last month we sent our I-129F and we have already received the related NOA1.

At the time we filed, I was unemployed and I stated so in the petition. About a week ago, however, I started working again.

Should my fiancé send a supplement explaining what happened, including all the details related to my new job? I am scared that not updating the information might lower our chances to be approved.

I was considering preparing a supplement for the interview anyway (hoping to be approved).

    Thanks for your help.

Let me help you with another way of using VJ. When you reply to a post use the quote button at the end of the post that you want to quote (2). This will bring up a box with the quoted post and that person will be advised that you have responded to their post or others will see the topic you are replying to and we can help if need be. Here is another example. If you have a multitude of people to respond to you can use the plus (1) and you select each post you want to respond to until you have exhausted your list and all those prior post from the individuals will appear ready for you to respond to each. I hope this helps. Remember, everyone was in your place and one time or another so your not alone.

Ok, it makes more sense now, this was really helpful!

  14. Hey everyone!

My fiancé and I sent our petition to the Dallas lockbox on January, 25th and, according to the FedEx tracking system, it was delivered on January, 29th.

On February, 3rd my fiancé received a text message with our case number (starting with WAC, so I assume it will be processed by the California Service Center) and the text confirmed that they receive the packet on January, 29th.

I also checked the Case Stutus tracker and it says the same thing.

Since the text message with haven't received any paper copy of the NOA1.

    Is this normal?

    Thank you for helping.
