I am in South Carolina, since March and since my original interview was cancelled.....waited until just before my I-94 was due to expire and then submitted AoS at the beginning of August.  It seems to be going verrrry slowly.  I do have my confirmation of receipt so can legitimately stay here in the US while processing, but have not received biometrics appointment yet.  Usually you receive the biometrics around 6 weeks after submission....but I'm three and a half months in.  This is not surprising to me and I am grateful to be with my spouse.  We have not ever lived apart - and so the thought of being separated for any length of time seems terrifying to us.  Our priority was to stay together, hence making the choice to switch to AoS.  I am also retired, so not in a desperate need to receive my green card for income right now.

I think you have to weigh up the pros and cons for your individual case.  Ans assume things will take longer than stated (as it has for all of us so far, right?!).  The AoS process is a little simpler, for example, you only have to get a police record if you have a criminal record.  But the financial paperwork is long and annoying!

Good luck with whatever you all decide.  We will get there in the end - keep the faith!

I received my IR1 visa interview date from Montreal this morning....they are rescheduling the cancelled interviews from March and April first.  My DQ date was November 19, original interview date was March 23.  Hope this helps with your planning...

Thanks to everyone for being so patient and nice to me as I end my 26month consular journey and start my *&??? month AoS journey just as 70% USCIS staff furloughs are announced.   Fed up!!!!!  But...at least I am with my spouse, so I am very thankful.
    Good luck to all!

My interview was scheduled for Sept 2.  14 days notice.

Unfortunately I switched to AoS 2 weeks ago because I am in the states approaching my leave date and there was absolutely no warning or notice from Montreal.  I emailed them to give my interview to someone else.......

Medical has to not expire for a month after interview date...so I would have had to retake it as mine would have expired Sept 6th.
They are requiring 14 days strict quarantine before  medical/interview as per Canadian border requirements at this time.

I was asked to email back to confirm attendance...just the generic IV email address.

    Email was received from montreal-iv-dv@state.gov

All other requirements were the same as usual.
