Just tried this - it works pretty good except for the cases that have been approved.  Those cases don't show up.  There's a case I found close to mine that was approved through manual search but didn't show up on the app. Kind of makes sense since USCIS case tracker doesn't show the case type when the case is approved.

Still great for showing general progress for a set of cases though.

^^ Yes, that's the weakness. The app doesn't store previous statuses for case IDs. When I-751 is approved, it initially shows in the app. As soon as status changes to New Card Being Produced / Card was mailed, then you cannot be certain what type of case it is.
It could be I-485, I-765, I-90 or I-751. I think all of them share some messages for statuses, and the app is not designed to keep history. Which may be a legal issue for developer, even if they wanted to do it.
Oh well, it's better than nothing.

I agree on the trend that for cases within a given range, RFEs seem to be sent a week or two before approvals are done for non-RFE cases.  That matches my experience as well.

    At least for WAC.

@ODATT I agree with @OldUser there is a number of I-751 WAC (California Service Center) cases on Case Tracker for November. WAC receives 10,000+ cases each month. It looks like they are already working on approving some of the cases from early November. Approved I-751 cases are in 14,000s. I have also noticed a few RFEs in 17,000s. This is second week of November. There are no approved I-751 cases in 17,000s which suggests that RFEs, at least some of them, are sent automatically a few weeks/a week prior to approvals for cases within the same time range. It would be interesting to know if these "automatic" RFEs are just random or triggered by some sort of logic. Some of the nonsense RFEs reported by users on this forum would imply the first.

A case number very close to mine was just sent an RFE few days ago.  Hopefully that means my case will be seeing movement soon.

@Moe428 based on what I've seen so far, WAC filers with numbers ending 15600 or below are being processed right now. Which corresponds to early November 2021 filers.

The 10.5 month timeline didn't seem realistic anyway.  They were handling October 2021 cases in October 2022, suggesting it was taking them 12 months to process.  At least it provides clarity on what I thought was already the case.

The strange thing for me is that this is a 6 month moving average, which means they removed the data for April 2022 and added October 2022, and that caused the average to jump by 2 months? That would mean either the number for April 2022 was very low or very high for October.

The service center is assigned by USCIS.  You don't get to pick it.

It seems that most people in California and surrounding states end up getting assigned WAC (California Service center).  So chances are you will get that as well.  You will find out once you get your case number.

If your intention is to get US citizenship then you might as well. I would suggest anyone who has a WAC case to wait but for anyone else it makes sense to file N-400.

With WAC current timings I think it makes sense to give I-751 12-13 months before filing N-400.  By filing N-400 they may move your I-751 case to a local office for a combo interview which will definitely slow down the I-751.  The same probably applies for SRC.

That 10.5 months is the moving average of the processing time in the last 6 months.  It's possible in the last couple months things slow down so now it's really taking 12 months, but the data won't reflect that.  The same would also happen if they started processing faster as well.

@Elena & Craig field office is irrelevant in this case. The application was processed solely at the Service Center. Field office is only involved if interview is needed or N-400 filed with N-751 pending.

^^ people can correct me on this, it's only my understanding.

Speaking from my limited experience, i.e. entering 3 times with extension letter, once on land border and twice in US airports, I was never sent to secondary.

There have been a few approvals in this thread for WAC filers.  If the wait times is the same then we should start seeing something in a month or two.

You should cancel precheck appoint and get a global entry one.  I made that mistake and it's too late since I already paid.

While we are in better position than someone that field for AOS, we still have other problems.  Lot of businesses and even some government employees are clueless about I-751 and if they want to see proof of your status they become suspicious and/or give you trouble.
