    Hi!
I am not sure but I would guess that if you mean the pareja de hecho you won’t need to disclose it because in the US it is not valid. However I would suggest to ask the consulate in order to be sure because this is who I asked in our case and they told me we don’t count as married and we should do K1. Best of luck to you!

This is a QUESTION not a complaint. My previous job is waiting for me to have my card so they can rehire me in their US offices and I was trying to find out what to tell them. I didn’t take your place or did anything different than you did so your anger is misplaced and jealousy is a bad thing.
Maybe if you were a nicer person you’d be luckier...
Anyway, for anyone interested in the future I found out USCIS says it takes up to a month for cards to arrive but normally arrives within 1-2 weeks.

I got my combo EAD/ AP card within a week. SSN card followed shortly. You may check my timeline on my signature. It took 2 months after bio for me to get the cards as well.

You were clear I just re-read your post and realize my mistake. Yeah two weeks seems like a good time for it to arrive! Good luck and thanks

Fam! If you wanna complain, you can complain, no one here has the right to bother/bully anyone. It's a free space and we should all respect the opinion and feelings of everyone. So please, air your thoughts, your complaints and your frustrations if you so please.

Your process won't go faster by adding words to someone's post.

For your other question, if you're out of normal processing times for your EAD you could reach out to USCIS to put in a request. It's possible to ask to expedite it however I haven't seen many people be successful with that prior to biometrics. Other route is to contact your congressperson to put in a request for you.

Hi everyone! I applied September 11 and got an RFIE for I-944 2 weeks ago and just today I received the notice for my biometrics appointment for January 8th!
I had asked USCIS and they had told me my ASC was Norridge but my bio appointment turns out is at Burbank. I think they might be changing locations for some people

We submitted the AOS packet September 11 and I got an RFIE 2 weeks ago and I just received today a biometrics appointment notice for January 8th!
I’m in Chicago and thought it would take way longer for my biometrics to be honest

@Kay & Evan  Thanks for the reply.  yeah we were pretty shocked too considering so many people get approved for K1 even though they have only met once or twice in their lives it seems.  We provided a lengthy history of our relationship, starting off with the night we met and then detailing how the relationship progressed up to when and how we decided to marry.  We even both went and visited my family 2 summers ago (btw I am from Chicago too!).  YEs I asked the notary in Barcelona for documentation describing the law and that it is not a marriage or how it is different than marriage or that it does not prevent marriage but they don't seem to have anything helpful.  I think I will go to the consulate and see if I can get some advice on what to include.

Perhaps your pre-emptive  statements about civil partnership may have helped.  I am pretty sure we did something like that as well. At this point its been 6 months so I don't recall.  I am dreading digging back into the stack of 5000 papers to review.  Anyhow, I really appreciate the response and I am happy you guys had a simple procedure.  Best of luck!

I would not cancel the civil relationship and submit documentation of that to USCIS at this point.  Doing so would seem to lend credence to USCIS's idea that this relationship would somehow prevent you from getting married.  And, since the cancellation would occur after you had already submitted the petition, the petition could likely then be denied since you were apparently not free to marry at the time the petition was filed.  I know that's roundabout logic but...

I would focus on the first part of the request and "explain this documentation", including a thorough explanation of the purpose of entering into such a relationship and the Spanish law covering it -- with emphasis on the ability of either party in the relationship to marry without taking any further action, i.e., emphasizing that each individual is free to marry at any time while in such a legal relationship, either to each other or someone else.  I would end the explanation with some kind of statement about not having terminated the civil relationship because a) you're no longer in Spain and it, therefore, no longer has any validity as it Is not recognIzed by countries outside Spain, and, b) again stating it is not a legal impediment to being free to get married.

Sorry, I just noticed that you did in fact have a timeline on your profile page.  I see you did not get an RFE (unlike us) even though you were in the exact same situation as us.  I am happy that you guys managed to get approved and I see that your wedding is coming soon!  Congrats!

    Hi All.

Yesterday I travelled from Belgrade to JFK on my K1 visa.

The flight was busy but was super straightforward - staff at Belgrade airport just confirmed how long I'd been in the city, initially at check-in and then again at boarding.

The immigration was possibly the easiest I've ever had upon entering the States. The first officer checked my visa+pack then led me to a waiting room, where a second officer looked over the documents, handed me my passport and simply said good luck before granting me entry.

There were no healthchecks or temperature checks at any point. The flight staff did hand out a health form, but it wasn't asked for at any point

I was going to fly Croatia- Miami on Friday. However the flight with Turkish airlines got cancelled.
I will now fly tomorrow (Wednesday) to Chicago. This makes it exactly 14 days of me being here. But with the weeks of waiting, the quick last minute changes- I am mentally so tired.

please cross your fingers for me, that I’ll have no issues tomorrow. Thursday I’ll fly to Tampa from Chicago.
I am prepared for having bad luck at the passport check and have someone pull me aside or question me. But of course I’d be appreciative if that didn’t happen and after weeks I would just have some luck.

Hi everyone! Update for my flight Belgrade to New York:
just to give you a first idea on how smooth and fast it all went my plane touched down at 16:45 and I was waiting for my baggage at 17:06!
So during the flight they gave us a form we all had to fill that we had to complete our name flight address etc info and state if we had any COVID symptoms the past few days and if we have been in any of the banned countries the past 14 days. It also said we would have to quarantine for 14 days after landing so that didn’t seem fun.
After we landed I went to the passport control which was almost empty. I gave the form my passport and the K1 package as well as a copy of my vaccination record to the guy but he didn’t want the xrays cd.
he opened the package and then asked me to confirm my address. He flipped through the package and found a picture of me and my fiancé and pointed at him and said is this (name and surname of fiancé) I said yes he said nice and commented on the lake in the picture haha. Then he asked how much money in cash I have on me. Then he stamped my passport and said we’re almost done I just have to go to the office for the final check.
meh took me to the office and handed my papers and passport to the lady there. He told her “I already stamped her through so take her temperature and we’re good” which sounded to me like I was already done. Once he left the lady called me up she looked at me and my passport and then said “you have 90 days to get married” is said yeah we’re excited! And she said okay good luck bye and gave me my passport without taking my temperature or anything.
someone else with a visa From the same flight I was in was there next to me and he asked if he needs to have anything in mind in terms of quarantine or anything because of the form we had to complete and the guy laughed and told him “no man you’re all good we’re in phase two now!”
overall everything was very fast and almost no questions!
good luck everyone! If anyone is considering Belgrade I highly recommend the route and don’t hesitate to contact me as I have like a full guide by now to share!
