ECCK reacted to Penguin_ie in Negative attitudes in the forum
I wanted to address the negative attitudes we have seen on the rise recently in the upper/ immigration forums towards those who ask beginner/ simple questions, or have unusually fast or slow VisaJourneys.

First, there is a tone difference between the Progress forums- which are mostly for support and cheerleading, and the Info forums, which are mostly to have questions answered.   While all our forums are supposed to be welcoming to all and friendly, this is especially important in the Progress forums, which are not to discuss politics, or be negative towards  those fortunate to have their case dealt with quickly, or  critical of those who voice sadness about their own slow progress. These forums are there to uplift eachother!

Secondly- in the info forums, you may get bad news.  When a question is asked, our members are encouraged to answer truthfully, even if this may not be what the Op wants to hear, because it is important to be informed.  However, the emphasis is still on being welcoming and friendly.  If you need to give bad news, do so gently, and stick to facts; constructive criticism of the Op's plans ARE allowed, but the emphasis is on constructive.  No need to dwell on mistakes (or tell members they should be on 90 Day Fiance- that is a personal attack and automatic suspension), or  illegal actions in the past- instead, encourage and explain legal options for the future.  And ONLY legal options- as per our TOS, VJ does not support, condone or encourage illegal (immigration) actions, and such posts will be removed.

Ultimately, we are here to help all members, old and new, easy cases and complicated, those who write a fact filled bullet point post and those who are panicking and don't make much sense in their first post. Yes, sometimes questions can be easily googled, or answered via a search of our forums.  But if you feel that way, just scroll past- no need to criticise the OP for asking the question.

ECCK got a reaction from Chancy in Yes, you can visit!
Hi all, just adding my experience for others to read if they are considering to visit while waiting for their K1 visa.

I arrived into Seattle from Australia with the plan to visit for 2 months so that we get to spend our birthdays together (both in Dec) and Christmas with his family.

When I got to the desk at immigration the officer I spoke to began questioning why I didn't book a direct flight from Melbourne and went through a transit in Asia. I explained that it was because I found cheap tickets but the officer didn't seem to believe me and kept questioning where I visited before landing in the US. I actually haven't flown direct to the US the last two times I visited so I'm not too sure why it was such a sore point this time.

Then he asked about what I was doing in the US (visiting fiance and travels) and how I met him. When I mentioned that I met my fiance online he shook his head, so I knew this wasn't going well. He asked if we were planning to get married and i told him we had a K1 visa in process. When he gave me a slip saying I was going to secondary I wasn't surprised at all.

Another officer came to escort me to the waiting area. This officer was kind enough and said they'll just ask me some standard questions.

Waiting in the room with the other people getting questioned was the most nerve wrecking experience. I just kept telling myself that other people on Visa Journey had gone through this and as long as I am prepared I'll be fine. At one point I did see someone get hand cuffed and my stress levels soared ...

About 40 minutes of waiting and then my name got called and this second officer was extremely nice. He said he found my K1 file and saw that we were trying to do the right thing. He did say I shouldn't have come back so soon (I had visited in late June and left early August) and warned me several times about not adjusting my status on this trip. I confirmed that I understood and would be waiting for the K1 approval. I had brought my K1 package and additional documents I had collated for the eventual interview as proof that I intend to complete the K1 process.
I was asked what I did for my job and I told him, and mentioned I have one year of leave which allows me to travel. I had a letter from my employer but he didn't check it.

The officer then asked for details about my fiance (job and address) and asked for me to spell his name. I thought the name thing was odd because he said he could see our K1 file on his computer screen, so I assume he was checking my knowledge. I was also questioned again about how I met my fiance and the officer said "you didn't meet him online did you?" I'm told him the truth that i did meet him online. I was expecting more questioning on this but he left it at that.

He did a routine check of my bags and then told me he will approve my visit.
He eventually gave me my passport back and let me through. When I left he said again "don't adjust your status!". I told him "i promise I won't!!" I was so relieved it was over!!

Overall the questioning wasn't as scary as I thought. Once the officer saw my package and saw how thorough it was, he was confident we had a legitimate relationship. It also helped that my fiance is in the Navy and he said my fiance most likely wouldn't want to do the wrong thing. I would recommend anyone that's worried - just be prepared. Even if they don't check your documents, just having them on hand and available helps your case.

We received an email back from the Sydney Consulate today (Monday morning 01/06 Aus time). They said that they were unfortunately booked full until the time slot they assigned us. *Sighs* oh well, it was worth a shot. At least we know the date now and it's not too far off in the end of things.
  8. Thanks

Same, I had hoped for something in early March. I didn’t think March would fill up so quickly! But at least we both have our date now. Good luck!

Greenbaum is getting frustrated with you (and a couple others I see) because of asking questions he answered already; he directed you to the Philippines forum which is important for you at this time, and he gave you the link to the guide for the Philippines process.

Trust me (I'm with the gubermint) the visa application process for the Philippines is very different from other countries ...

You ought to show GB some respect. Do you even see how he's pretty much the only one here who has the P3 info and he gives them and volunteers his time for free. It does get tiring when people have to be spoon fed all the time. You're supposed to ask questions that don't have answers readily available. Heck, if you go to the official websites, you'll see explicitly how it's done. You had 3 months from NOA1 to NOA2, more than enough time to understand the process of the next stage. You didn't deserve an speedily processed NOA2, you should have gotten it in February like you had hoped.

Your case file is at the consulate according to your timeline ... there is an exact process to follow if you want to be done quickly.

Not sure why you are hanging here in the K-1 forum at this point,  processes vary dramatically from embassy to embassy.

There IS NOT a packet 3 for the Philippines.

If you're reading my guide and following the process then you should be done with the interview very soon.    Holidays can delay things a little but stay with it ...

My fiance had his medical this morning. He said everything was fast and efficient. They scanned his health summary and everything. Took xray, Blood and Urine test, and had a flu jab. They told him if he doesn't hear anything from them in about a week, then everything went well!

We're still waiting for our appointment date. *Sighs*
We emailed the consulate and asked if there was a delay expected due to the bushfires.

They responded today (today there the 27th) and said they were, "fully scheduled for the next two months." And that "you will be scheduled for the first available appointment slot."

    Well that's a bummer.

It would be easier waiting if we knew the date.
I was pretty hopeful about getting to this stage thinking it would be fairly quick but governments and paper work will always prove you wrong. 😅
It comes back to the 'trust the process' philosophy about this visa stuff.
