anyone with pregnant wife? i'm hoping to have her here before  our baby birth ( expected mid Nov-Dec). any advise on Expedite ( good letter template,....), the Embassy/ consulate  in Morocco still closed for Covid-19.

    Thank you

My wife is pregnant and due in October...

However, i'm still stuck in Nigeria and the US embassy here is still closed

Depression is gradually taking a toll on both of us...

I expedited but the embassy told me to wait till the airports are open..

I want to be there for her and the baby... Really don't know what else to do..

This exemption only applies to countries who were eligible for spouse immigrant visa. There have been a ban in Nigeria of immigrant visa for Spouse and relations since January even before the Covid became serious.

A lot of people still got waivers after the ban. Especially spouses of US citizens and LPR petitioners

Hopefully when Nigeria open the international airports, the embassy will continue processing CR1 again

No really the embassies are waiting for the country to open. The embassy has no control over airports closed and such. What sense does it make to have interviews where the international airport is still closed. I know it is for Nigeria and Ghana.

Once the country opens the embassy will. Plus you have to also consider this, the CO's aren't even there. Hard to get things opened when staff isn't there only local staff . Once they can fly in you will things start to happen.

How certain are you about this?

The NVC holds onto your case until the embassy let's them know they are ready to schedule the interview. If you haven't expedited, it's normal that your case has not yet left NVC if there is no interview date.

I do see you mentioned contacting the embassy for an emergency interview, bit did you expedite?

Yes i did. Even added the letter from the Doctor.

NVC says my embassy is currently closed, so they can't expedite.

Then we decided to contact the embassy, they were like they are yet to receive my case and airports are also closed, so no point.

They just keeping giving excuses. Really frustrating.

  5. Hi Everyone,

I have been DQed since May, however my case is still at NVC. I contacted the embassy in my country( Nigeria) for an emergency interview but they said NVC is yet to send my case to them.

I don't understand why is taking NVC so long to send my case. I know most embassies are not open but that shouldn't stop NVC from sending my case, i believe they transfer these cases online, except in wrong.

Do we have people here in similar situation like me?

    Thanks for your support.

I do not check the actual account but Immigrant application status link https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV

You need to login with your case number

in my case, it was showing Status  NVC while at NVC. Changed to In Tansit, when my interview was scheduled (way back in February).

Been sitting at the Ready status ever since.

    Hope this helps,

    Goodluck

    Alright.

Thank you very much for the clarification.

    All the best

    Cheers.

The status is on the CEAC portal:

    https://ceac.state.gov/IV

I think this is what you are referring to when you say your personal NVC account? You will need to log in with your credentials. When you look at the bottom of the account page where you see the names of the petitioner and applicant you will see the status as Accepted.

    I get you now.

My status is still on accepted.

Though i requested for an emergency interview lately, i was told once the airports are open, they will fix an interview for me asap.

    Cheers.

Once your case file reaches the embassy, status changes to Ready

    so no e-mail.

I do check CEAC like 5x a day., so i can catch the last updated dates..not that it does me any good, lol.

    hang in there..

    Hi,

So before it changes to ready, what's usually the status?

I barely check my CEAC profile, I was thinking i will get an email once it gets to the embassy.

    Cheers.

Yes, you have to wait for the interview letter. The medical only lasts 6 months, and your visa expiration is tied to the medical. Also, I don’t know if it’s in all countries like this, but I was asked for the interview letter at my medical, and when trying to schedule they didn’t let me schedule even a month before, they let me Schedule I think two or three weeks before my interview.

    Alright.

    Thank you very much!

    Hey,

Sorry for the news - but at least they reviewed it early, since you "just" filed :) Keep your head up, sounds like an easy fix.

The quoted part states pretty clear what they want you to do - sign by hand (not a digital signature) so your assumption seems to be right. Maybe double check that you are using the latest version of the form on USCIS website before you re-submit, to ensure you're not using an outdated version.

    Alright. thanks.

Just resubmitted the form. Hopefully we get DQed soon.

    Regards.

  11. Hello,

Just got an RFE today 29 April.

    First Submission was 30 March

All our documents has been accepted except the AOS form...

This what they said -  "If you have returned your original form to us, these are the items that are still incorrect or missing. If you need another form, please visit http://nvc.state.gov/visa/aos to download a new form and complete instructions. Please sign and date this by hand in Part 8, Lines 6.a. and 6.b., and replace this form."

Now remember i said earlier we signed electronically i guess thats why it was rejected though the message doesnt specifically say so. Please is there more to that message? bcos its not very clear.

    Thanks for your help.

I have a question about the signatures...I may have messed up.

The instructions said that you can’t have a TYPEWRITTEN signature. We signed electronically (a digital signature of our ink signatures stored on Adobe). You can’t even tell if it’s in pen or not. It’s identical to a pen signature.

Is this going to be an issue? Should I re upload the forms as “Additional Docs” with a scanned ink signature? And make it look more...rugged?

    Thank you.

I did exactly this and submitted. Then someone here told me it could be a problem, i then later tried to upload the scan version of the ink signed copy but the website didnt let me upload despite several trials. so i gave up and hope they dont hold it against us.

can anyone tell me if it's possible to submit documents, but that i can modify them at any time after submitted?

with what's going on, i may not have everything at 100%, but I do not want to delay anything any longer than I have to.

for one, i would upload my passport picture as soon as things re-open, but at lease my application would be in the queue.

    thanks all.

    Hi,

I have been unable to modify or add additional documents since i submitted since 30th March. I tried several times but it wouldn't even upload.
