    Submitted date 1/23/2024
    Interview Sceduled 3/14/2024
    Interview date 04/19/2024

Well had my interview first thing this am in Houston. Time was 7am but arrived 15 mins before and checked in, did biometrics etc after that. Got called maybe 10 minutes later or so by the IO. She was very very very nice. Did civics test and got all 6 first try, very easy questions. Then the yes no and we chatted a bit. Asked my wife's name, kids name where I live etc. It was very easy going and we joked and laughed a bit about somethings. Approved on the spot.

Waiting for Oath to be scheduled. I informed her that I have traveled plans at the end of May and she said no big deal just reschedule your Oath, they make it easy to do this.

Overall, 10/10 experience with the office and this officer.

Just finished the I-751 + N-400 combo interview at the St. Louis, MO office.

Went in at 9:10 and came out at 9:31. US citizen spouse was present for the first 5 ish minutes and then it was just me later. Officer just verified all the dates and asked 6 questions and then verified my driver's license + passport + (expired) green card + SSN card. They took away my OPT EAD (was on F-1 visa before I met my spouse) and the EAD/AP combo card, lol.

They did not take any copies from me that I had printed, and didn't look at any other original documentation.

At the end they gave me a sheet of paper that said they have recommended my approval and that they will send oath ceremony appointment via USPS. Case status changed for I-751 as approved and for N-400 as oath ceremony will be mailed.

This is what I did. Since February 23, 2023 my I-751 case is received with no updates. I applied for citizenship on January,12, 2024. Some people who applied for citizenship in January already received interview invitation. I feel that removal of conditions cases is out of its priority list.

I'm officially a US citizen! 30 people from 19 different countries were in my ceremony today but it went by so fast! I think we were in and out in around 1/2 hour.

It seemed like everybody got there at the same time so the line stretched from security into the waiting area for interviews. Family members were sent into the ceremony room first and then the rest of us had to hand over our green cards/EADs and confirm the information on our naturalization certificates. They *did* use my entire name (my IO confirmed that dropping the second middle name would have required a name change and I'm not bothered enough to go through that process) but when they handed out the certificates they just referred to everyone as Mrs./Ms. or Mr. Last Name.

I think the bulk of all ceremonies are essentially the same (videos, call of countries, oath, pledge of allegiance, etc) but they let family members come to the front of the room for the oath for pictures and video. My husband stood right in front of me and filmed the whole thing!

I will say that one of the coolest and best parts of the ceremony was seeing everyone interact with each other. There were people there with multiple family members and people there by themselves, but I don't think anyone felt alone. People were offering to take pictures for others, complete strangers were taking pictures together, families were hugging, one man got both of his small kids from the family section to be with him while he took the oath, and everyone applauded for everyone else. It was really nice to see.

Its been a *long* day but I'm so glad the whole process is over. I don't intend to ever go back to that office unless I somehow lose my certificate (*knock on wood* because they told us it costs around *$600* to replace it!) or I randomly find myself working there someday. I think the least friendly people we encountered all day were the security guards and even they weren't that bad. I hope everyone has a similar experience at their FOs!

Now to register to vote, update my SSN, and (eventually) get my passport!

I applied online January 12th, am waiting for the interview invitation, and studying online for the civic test, also there is an app called Citizen Now, however, I don't feel that I am dedicating enough time to this so I signed up for free online citizenship class via Zoom starting February 26th.

As of this morning, so is mine! Studying for the civics test has actually been kind of funny because my (American) coworkers all wanted the questions to see how they'd do. The answer is not well! 😂

I'm not bringing a *ton* with me, especially compared to other steps, because I'm filing based on being a resident for 5 years. I did put all of it into the binder I used for my very first K1 interview, though. It's a nice, full circle feeling. I'm also about to start going over my application again to make sure I can remember all of my own dates - my moves and job changes all happened in the last few years and everything has been a blur since 2020 anyway!

I do wish there was an easy way to see what my chances of a same day oath ceremony are, just so I can mentally prepare for that soon. I'm also not sure if my husband can come in and wait for me in the waiting room since he's not needed for the interview, so I may have him hang out at a nearby Panera just in case.

    Hey all!

I filed for N400 Jan 14 online and today I received a notification that my interview was scheduled for Feb 27. But nothing on my pending I-765, which is making me wonder if I need to notify USCIS to request a combined interview...any thoughts? I filed after having my green card for 3 years on the basis of a US spouse.

    Thanks so much!

As long as you're still married, living in marital union and you satisfy all other requirements (physical presence, continuous residence etc) you can file 90 days early.

I have a similar situation however I am a citizen of Ukraine and traveled to Ukraine and Poland. I always book my tickets for my maiden name and when at the airport I show an officer my green card and marriage certificate. I never had any troubles. CBR officers were very nice to me and I think they know that most marriage-based green card holders have this situation.

I have looked VisaJourney N400 timelines and and it looks like the whole process takes a couple of month. Also I talked to a lady another night who just had Oath ceremony August 24th, she applied in May 2023. Another friend also told me it was fast for her.  Plus 2024 is an election year so they will make it even faster. So will see🙂

Your extention letter means that your green card is still valid with it so any countries that are not required a visa if you have a green card will be good to go to without a visa but you will need to bring your green card and extention letter.
