Ptitchou got a reaction from S&J2013 in I-130 July 2019 Filers
Approved & NVC case created on the same day!
Potomac
PD July 24
NOA1 July 27
NOA2 March 25
NVC Received & Case Created March 25
USC Petitioner, no expedite or i-129.
I checked USCIS My Account this morning and there was still no change since October 23. Received an email from NVC at 4pm today, but no email for NOA2. Saw it in My Account documents after logging in.

Ptitchou reacted to Hilde in The new ds-5540
I would write it in the comments box that you did not file taxes bc you did not work in the US. So that would justify your "no" answer - that you did not file USA taxes.
As for insurance: I´ve been reading for people to get insurance quotes - with the beneficiary´s name. That way it shows that you can get that insurance upon arrival.

please let us all know your experience along with which embassy you interviewed and what questions they asked regarding the DS-5540. I can say for everyone about now how nerve wracking this is. We already had so many factors to be stressed out about and this is no less frustrating!

I'm also confused by this. You need to prove you are getting it within 30 days of entry and to show the plan and start date, but if you don't know when your visa will be approved, how can you purchase insurance?

Ptitchou reacted to Tesco in DS-5540 public charge & "occupational skills"
We listed ALL subjects passed into the 'High School' field. As for 'Occupational Skills'/'Certification', we put down ALL relevant skills and certifications. Remember part 8 is your friend here, use it wisely to capture items that won't fit. Now, we didn't list things like ballroom dancing classes, BUT you would if you're a professional or semi Pro. Our part 8 is fairly lengthy, as no one really knows the answers, as there are to my knowledge; no instructions. We decided to take a more structured approach and explain items that are open to interpretation, or where the question is unclear. We're a ways from this step, but just getting the ducks in a row for now.

Noticing a bunch of filers here don't have timelines set up. It really helps us all if you set your timeline up so we can see the latest approvals and the algorithm gets adjusted.

I'm definitely wishing I filed it ages ago, but I honestly expected we'd have been approved months ago already. Knowing my consulate has a 6 month backlog for interviews doesn't help either. Almost wishing we'd gone the AoS route but I wanted to be able to keep working. :(

Any new Potomac approvals? The list shows there hasn't been much movement. I'm staring to wonder if I should've filed the I-129 after all. Has anyone noticed it's sped things up?

Hey guys! This is just a general plea I am putting out to all Potomac filers. Please please please, if you haven't already, set up your timeline and try to keep it updated on here. Centers like Texas and Nebraska have a lot of members, so if one or two people skip it, it is not a big deal and it doesn't impact the algorithm too much, but Potomac has a much smaller representation on here, so every case helps us all. Thank you to the Potomac filers in July who have already received approval keeping their timelines updated. I appreciate you! Thanks!

Ptitchou got a reaction from Neide in Final public charge rule
What's confusing me is that this all is phrased like it applies to immigrants who already live in the USA. How are we supposed to have any credit score at all before we're able to get a SSN and a bank account? Or are they going to want the USC petitioner to provide their credit score and be mandated to have insurance? It's not terribly straightforward for all circumstances.
Has anyone seen the new income requirements for 2020? Can't seem to find them. I'm sure this will all become clearer in due time but right now it's a bit chaotic.

Important: Police certificates expire after one year, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued.
That said you also need to look into your consulate, because different consulates have different rules for the interview and you may need to get it reissued before then. Some will accept a year, others, like SA require within six months. Some even ask for within 3 months. Good luck guys We are all in the Potomac boat together.

We are going away for the month of February and hoped we'd have our approval by now, but well, we all see what's (not) happening with Potomac. PD is July 24.
Was thinking we should at least get all the paperwork together for NVC stage have keep it on file to be ready whenever we finally hear from them, but I also know at this rate, NVC isn't likely to receive our case until we're back from our trip. How long are police records valid for?
