Hello,

Could anyone filing for CR-1 who currently lives abroad with their spouse tell me which health insurance company you are considering purchasing/purchased - to show evidence of health insurance for the appilcant?

Both of us currently live abroad and would be returning to the US together.

I'm also confused by this. You need to prove you are getting it within 30 days of entry and to show the plan and start date, but if you don't know when your visa will be approved, how can you purchase insurance?

You need to demonstrate the ability to obtain suitable insurance, and to afford said insurance, within 30 days of entry. So plan details + premium is good, and showing that you can be added to said plan, should be sufficient. A strict start date is not needed IMO.

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

K-1:

4/6/2017: Received, 4/12/2017: Sent to Riyadh embassy, 4/16/2017: Case received at Riyadh embassy, 4/21/2017: Request case transfer to Manila, approved 4/24/2017

 

K-1

5/1/2017: Case received by Manila (1 week embassy transfer??? Lucky~)

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!

7/19/2017: Visa in hand

8/15/2017: POE

Do you have insurance? Do you work?

 

health insurance law is on hold. But public charge is effective

The DS5540 form specifically asks about insurance. It also has a start date... this form is now on the dropdown menu of "Additional Files" under the DS260. So it´s a good idea to have it filled out - or risk getting RFA...

 

Do I work? Yes - but abroad.

Do I have health insurance? Yes - but abroad.

July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
