  1. Reading the forum, looks like no NYC based applicant has been newly scheduled for interviews in Jan/Feb? As in interviews are being held in 2023, but these were scheduled in late 2022. However, I haven't seen new interviews scheduled for NYC folks in Jan/Feb--with interviews in March.Apr? Hopefully things aren't slowing down this year.
  2. I've been folding mine to fit my travel document holder and have been traveling with it pretty regularly--and it has been fine so far. No issues coming in and out of the US. But agree that the letter is getting worn out, and it's sooo annoying not being able to use self check ins. I think I'll continue to use my 24 month letter until the 24 month period is valid, and will use the 48 month one when the 24 month period expires.
  3. Hi, any news from NYC folks? I submitted Dec 30th and since then my 751 was moved and biometrics reapplied. Just wanted to get a sense of which month Queens NYC office is processing. Any queens folks here? I have a trip abroad for two weeks, second and third week of May, and I’m hoping the interview will be either before or after that trip.
  4. I had the same thing, and a few days later my I-751 status changed to it was being transferred to another center, and then a day later i was notified that the fingerprints were applied. Nothing after that.
  5. Congratulations! That is amazing. So fast!! I live in Queens, I wonder if I can indicate to them that I'm being open interviewed at the Long Island office if it makes it faster (in the unsoliticed evidence option)
  6. I got a few more updates on my I-751 this afternoon. The first one was about the new office having jurisdiction, and the second one was about fingerprints being applied (although I had already received a letter about that back in 2021; maybe due to the new office. No emails/text; but just logged in to see that. No new updates on the N400.
  7. Hi, I applied the evening of Dec 30. No I didn’t put any note on pending I751. I just uploaded the extension letter as well, along with the picture of the expired GC.
  8. Guys, my I751 just changed to that it’s been transferred to a new office. I guess the morning email/text was about this, but the status changed only just now.
  9. I had the biometrics update and the wait time reduced just the day of applying. I got an email then about an update has been made and the status of the application was changed to "We are actively reviewing...". They must have had some glitch probably yesterday if all of us got the email/text but that there was no update.
  10. This morning I woke up to email and text messsage saying there has been updates to my case: however when I logged in there are no updates; neither on N400 or i751. Any one who had something similar?
  11. Queens filer, filed N-400 online on 31 December. I-751 pending since July 2021 too. Hope things still run fast for NYC based folks. Anyone has their I-751 approved before the N400 interview, or is it pretty much a combo interview at this stage?
  12. Filed online on 31 Dec. Pending I-751 at the Vermont Center. Got fingerprint waived and receipt letter right away after applying. Hoping they approve the I-751. I'm from Queens NY.
  13. I checked last week and now it's up to 15 months! This is just so crazy. Just last year it was around 10-12 months.
  14. Anyone from the area who applied for N-400 when I-751 was pending? Did I-751 get approved before the N-400 interview?
  15. Hi all, I am eligible for the 3 year rule, yet the online information asks me for information for the past 5 years. Is that normal, or should I be able to enter information only for past three years (for eg travel or employment).
  16. You can create an account with NY Department of Finance and then can pay/view status of your tax status, including if it’s fully paid. The account I believe can be used for DMV etc too.
  17. Any experience here where someone has filed N400 while 751 is pending, and 751 got approved, i.e. no combo interview. Or does applying for N400 while 751 pending always results in a N400 interview. The reason i'm asking is that I'm in NYC and I know that after I apply for N400, the I751 will be moved here. The processing time for N400 in NYC is around 16 months. So applying for N400 will mean that for the next 16 months my 751 won't be approved as well, and the extension letter will expire too. So I'm thinking maybe if I wait for a few more months, my 751 would be approved (EAC, filed in July 2021) so at least I'll have a permanent green card and not be in limbo getting a stamp/traveling with extension letter/difficulty with license renewal etc. Wanted to see what everyone thought.
  18. Any chance that the I751 gets approved without an interview—if the case/evidence are strong enough—while waiting for N400? Or does applying for N400 automatically guarantees a combo interview.
  19. Hi Guys, quick question. I have a pending I-751 from EAC (11+months) and I'm eligible to apply for naturalization end of this month. I understand that applying for N400 will move my I-751 to the field office, and I'll most likely have a combo interview. USCIS naturalization timeline for NYC area is around 15-16 months. So does that mean if I apply for N-400 when I'm eligible, i'm looking for around 16 months of not having I751 adjudicated as well? I'm debating to wait a few months and at least have my 10 year green card vs. apply for N-400 while ROC is pending and wait for another 16 months without any adjudication. Anyone from NYC area that have similar experiences and how they came to a decision?
  20. My understanding is that nexus members can only use GE machines that exist in Canadian airports which have a pre-clearance system with the US. So if you're flying from let's say Paris to JFK, you wouldn't be able to use Nexus at JFK global entry. But if you were flying from a Canadian pre clearance airport to the US , you can use nexus in the GE kiosks in those airports.
  21. I don't think they can get rid of it, unless they change INA, which is unlikely to happen in this political environment.
  22. I agree with you. It's useless and such a waste of time, esp with 1-3% being denied. My point was that given that they have set themselves target to reduce processing times for only specific forms, i can see how they will now only focus on those, and forget about I-751s. I think things will get much worse. Not saying that it's right, but if I was an officer working there and my bosses tell me that "our priority is to reduce timelines for forms x, y, and z", i wouldn't pay attention to other forms that are not on that list. Which sucks for people like us who have pending I-751s. Even though we have status, it's this uncertainty and inconvenience of the letter/adit stamp/license renewal etc.
