thanks!!!
one last thing, did they ask for the original transcripts or did they accept a scanned version? and did they accept self translation? cuz really i'm not gonna pay for someone to do something i can do myself lol
So, they wanted the original transcripts. My wife had her transcripts, but it was not sealed in a envelope with the school letterhead as they wanted it. In Brazil, they don't do it like that, so I just took the transcripts down to there office and they accepted it. I'm pretty sure you can do a scanned version of the original transcripts, but I would call just to make sure. I don't think so, you will need a certified translator to translate it. I would call to see if you can. Here is the translation service I used: https://www.languex.co/ I hope this helps!

Damn hahaha I really didn't want to submit my education equivalency but now that you said you actually got an RFIE for it (first one i've seen here so far!) I might actually have to do something about it ahhhhh T____T which company did you use for the evaluation? were they good?
Yeah I understand lol, but you don't want to put yourself at risk for getting an RFE, so I recommend you to just give USICS everything they ask for. We used IEE to do it. We did the document report because it was $80 and that's all USCIS needed. It took about a week or 2 to get back because we did it the week of Thanksgiving last year. Here is the link to their website: https://www.myiee.org/furthereducation.php .

Are you now sure it was an RFE for the education equivalency or did it turn out to be something else?
Yes because I didn't submit the education equivalency and health insurance. Once I submitted that for my wife, her status moved to "ready to schedule interview". Make sure you follow everything they ask for on the I-944 instructions and you will get approved. I learned the hard way lol.

Wow, congrats!
Did she still go to SSA today or did she receive SSN in the mail before the appointment slot?
Thanks @HRQX! Yes she did and the lady told us she would have to wait 2-4 weeks because there were going to verify everything with DHS. We didn't check the mail the day before, but the SSN was in there! I'm happy and grateful that everything worked out!

When she goes in-person ask if they can give her a print-out with the SSN while she waits for the SSN card (since it's always mailed).
My wife received her SSN in the mail today! I don't know what happened, but maybe SS Office was backed up because it took a month to receive.

When she goes in-person ask if they can give her a print-out with the SSN while she waits for the SSN card (since it's always mailed). Also, she can begin employment right now without having or knowing her SSN. In that case, on I-9 form she would leave SSN field blank. In the case of E-verify, the employer can select "Awaiting Social Security number." https://www.e-verify.gov/faq/my-employee-applied-for-a-social-security-number-ssn-but-has-not-yet-received-it-what-should-i
Also: https://www.twc.texas.gov/news/efte/employees_without_ssns.html "It is certainly legal to hire someone who is authorized to work in this country, but who does not have a social security number or who chooses not to disclose it."
See JFH's experience with working without SSN:
Also a note that she is eligible for both stimulus rebates since she is a resident alien for tax purposes and she'll have a SSN at tax filing: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/i1040gi--dft.pdf "Generally, you are eligible to claim the recovery rebate credit if in 2020 you were a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien, weren't a dependent of another taxpayer, and have a valid social security number. This includes someone who died in 2020, if you are preparing a return for that person."
She is a resident alien for tax purposes because of substantial presence test: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/substantial-presence-test
OMG @HRQX thank you so much for this information! It is very helpful! I didn't even know she was eligible for the stimulus!

Hello August 2020 filers!
Update: My wife received her EAD card the first week of December and never received her SSN, so I have been calling the office this week and she finally have an appointment tomorrow with the Social Security office! I'm so grateful she finally got one because we have been trying to get her SSN since July 2020!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am beneficiary.
1. This is the second RFE for I-944? what did you miss for the 1st RFE for I-944? Her past jobs?
2. She wrote the letter explaining her jobs in Brazil by herself? or needed a letter from her previous employers?
I worked in my friend salon before but just did odd jobs so just had a free stay....I did not get salary so I did not file tax at all. Well, I do not know what I should deal with tax part in i944🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ i944 is really annoying. Some parts of i944 are of opacity!
You are welcome @Jimmy Lee!
1. I didn't include her foreign education evaluation of equivalency.
2. Just a letter she wrote explaining her jobs.
3. Did you received the money from the salon in cash? If so, you are good to go. If not, then you would have to file your taxes. So, whoever is in your household that has an income (filed their taxes) you have to list them in Part 3. Household income.
Yeah I agree with you, it is so annoying, but this is the process to get the green card. You literally have to have evidence for everything. I highly recommend you to download the instructions here. https://www.uscis.gov/i-944

what did you deal with beneficiary's job, tax ... in i944 if your wife did not ever work in US? i am dealing with i944 , just got RFIE today. thank you
@Jimmy Lee So, she wrote a letter explaining the jobs she did in Brazil and proof of the jobs she worked, and we had it translated to English (proof of jobs). For the tax info, I put myself as household member with my tax info, since I am the only one in the household with an income. My wife don't work here yet, so I didn't put her down for this part. I hope that make sense. Make sure you go through and read the instructions VERY CAREFULLY. This was our second RFE for I-944. Are you the beneficiary or your wife?

Congratulations 🎉! Please what was her timeline for EAD ? Also did she expedite?
Thanks @Faith2020! Her bio appointment for I-765 was Oct. 30, so that's like a month and 2 weeks. No she didn't expedite it.

Biometrics done some hours ago at ASC (Orlando, FL)
Only concern is that my Appointment Notice was only related to I-485, not I-765.I asked the officer about that and it seems for my case I will receive another appointment later.
I don't know exactly why they do sometimes separately.
Does anyone have the same experience?
That's crazy because my wife applied with me and she received only one appointment for both (I-485 and I-765).
Wow congrats @DanCode7703!! Yes it's crazy. My wife had them separately too. It don't make sense to me but it is what is it.

My wife got her green card approved today!
The interview went really good! We arrive 15 minutes early and got seen right away. The lady we interviewed with was like on a zoom. She was really nice and asked me questions about me and our relationship like where was I born ( I showed her my birth certificate), when did we meet, and where did we meet. After that she started asking my wife questions about where are you from, when did you get married, date of birth, when did you arrived in the U.S., and our address then she started asking her the yes or no questions from form I-485. I showed her our marriage license and gave them a copy and she say my wife was approved! She didn't ask for any other documents because I submitted alot of docs before. She even mentioned it to us and showed us! It was a great experience for us!
