Thanks for this.  I've been contacting different companies and reading through a few websites.  They seem to point to getting the SSN as a kind of loophole?  So getting the insurance never became an issue down the road (public charge, relying on gov't assistance or whatever they call it now)?

Healthcare.gov does state that the following statuses qualify:

Applicants for any of these statuses qualify to use the Marketplace:

    -Adjustment to LPR Status

    https://www.healthcare.gov/immigrants/immigration-status/

They require the following documentation to prove status.  But it's not clear combination of documents they are looking for.  For example, any visitor will have an I-94 but that doesn't qualify you for insurance.

    https://www.healthcare.gov/immigrants/documentation/

Adjustment to LPR status sounds exactly like AOS.  I'll have to call healthcare.gov again.  Every agent I talk to says something different.  So far, all the healthcare.gov insurance brokers say my fiance would NOT qualify for insurance, but maybe they are not used to dealing with immigrants?

It was all online, neither of us were asked for any proof. I am in Colorado so we use a state health marketplace instead of the federal one but I assume it’s pretty much the same process. It asked for my husband’s marital status, immigration status (adjustment to LPR), US income and SSN. The marketplace then gave us a list of insurance companies and policies to choose from.

Generally in our AOS process, the only documents we’re ever had to show to prove immigration status are the I-94, marriage license and I-797 (which is the NOA1 for AOS). However I didn’t have to show any of these for insurance, the healthcare marketplace verifies identity through social security numbers.

Hi power puff, thanks for the info. Just to make sure I understand, you were able to get Obamacare while waiting for AOS?

I know this a bit of an older post so idk if you found your answer, but I was able to create a healthcare.gov marketplace account for my husband and I (I’m the US citizen) once he had a SSN. After that, I was able to purchase us joint health insurance that was actually cheap and pretty amazing coverage because of the tax credits due to marriage and him not having income.  I am also self employed FWIW so this was our only option but it’s worked great. He had healthcare coverage before we ever even applied for AOS!

Also, all you need to get an SSN for her is to take her unexpired I-94 and marriage license after she crosses with her K1 visa. My husband actually got his before marriage even, but you probably would want to go after if she’s changing her last name.

I have a question regarding for I-765 form for work authorization. I know this is for August, but it appears there hasn't been a September one created yet and we are trying to file ASAP.

Where the heck do I find the eligibility category? When I go look at the directions, this is all I see about K1s and it makes it sounds like it only would allow him to work for 3 months, not permanently. Does anyone have any clarity they could provide?

    Thanks!

    The category is (c)(9)

    - some people type it as (c)(0)(9) - same thing

You are filing as adjustment of status, you have already completed the k1 portion of your immigration so that part is no longer what applies. It’s a different category, so if it’s approved, it would be valid until you receive your green card.

hey everyone i have situation 😕 We sent our packet to Chicago 2 weeks ago today and it delivered by ups on thursday the same week. Unfortunately we havent heard anything since then. They didnt cash money order but there is nothing in our mailbox neither. Is there any email address or phone number that we can ask for the packet?

This happened to us and unfortunately our package was sent back, so I think you should probably keep your eyes open for a return package. It took about 2-3 weeks for the package to come back. The second time around our money was deducted in less than 48 hours after it was received.

  5. Sadly our AOS package was returned this week which is super frustrating! We couldn’t really

understand why either. The 797 notice lists that it was an outdated 485, as well as missing signature but we used the 7/15/22 version of the form (most current) and the signature is definitely there. 😩 So frustrating! Printing it all out to send again today and double checking everything but it’s really annoying that the reasons they listed don’t seem to apply to us at all. Does anyone have insight on this?

the other thing is we included 3 copies of our certified wedding certificate in the original package (one each for 485, 131 and 765), and we don’t have that many extra certified copies anymore. Can we reuse the ones we sent in the original package? They have the barcode stamp on the bottom now is all - but could use white out or something. Any thoughts?

    I listed each box/container as .. clothing /kitchen utensils /books / tools etc… no itemized but categorized.

Thank you! How did you decide what to list as a $ value? Since it asks for it… does that just mean larger items?

  7. Hey all,

For anyone who’s use Upack to move from Canada to US, I’m just wondering, how you fill out the bottom section of 3299 where it asks about household goods and whatnot? How detailed does the packing inventory need to be? Do I need to list every single thing in every box? I’m just kind of confused and it’s intimidating. I will not be with my goods shipped, which is why I need to fill out the CBP 3299 form. I’d really like to hear from people who specifically used Upack if possible!

I am a returning US citizen btw, my fiancé will be coming on a K1 visa with his own stuff at a later time. Any help on this form is much appreciated.

As a March 4th NOA1, I got excited when I saw cases around mine being processed, and was hopeful for the 4 weeks that it happened, but now they have moved past my group with a handful of people still untouched.

Same here as a 61xxx applicant, seems like they’ve moved on from hitting that range heavily and mine was one of the only ones in a large chunk of the range that wasn’t approved. I get why they do it the way they do but it’s still so frustrating, and I can’t even imagine how it must feel for some people left behind from January and February.

Got the same response as you when inquiring (second time) a week later, though I also filed mid-March so that was to be somewhat anticipated. From what our charts are showing, your group is in active review. I wouldn't be all that concerned that you didn't get a 'favorable' response January 3rd; honestly, they didn't pick up speed until last week, so there probably weren't many cases assigned until then. Wish you the best of luck.

In any case, there were 47 cases touched today, the majority of which came through in the afternoon (virtually no progress made in the morning). Not sure the amount of February filers touched, though on Friday it appears about 30 of them were. That'll bring those filers to down 200 not yet reviewed. I'm still very confused as to why there's so many of them left, and a bit concerned seeing that literally every February group has people waiting. In fact, I don't think I've yet to see a single group, ever, with 0 people left. I'm shuddering at the thought and will now conveniently push that out of my mind.

50 cases on average does get us to a nice 250 per week, which would actually be enough for them to 100% the 570 - 595 groups. After they got to about 50% of the 600x (March 8 filers), they proceeded to start the 620x - the next 'big' group left until the 645x. There are about 300-400 cases between 620 and 645 but it seems like USCIS definitely hits the larger filing dates first (after all, we saw 600x get touched back in early December and routinely dominate the daily approvals - they had over 300 filers alone). I believe there's lots of high hopes for February. It seems like 47 cases is the baseline, so who knows? They did 60+ last Tuesday, anything's possible coming up... Mondays are always slow days, after all :)

    Best of luck tomorrow troops!

Thank you for this! Yes the “group” of WAC numbers I’m in (61xxx) has been hit heavily the last week. But now literally all the numbers surrounding me have been processed except mine 😅 it honestly baffles me how there are still January/February 2021 cases waiting too.
