I mailed it as it is shown on the USCIS site which is this:

    USCIS
    Attn: I-751 (Box 21200)
    1820 E. Skyharbor Circle S
    Suite 100
    Phoenix, AZ 85034-4850

So USCIS is above the attn. 😊

Thanks! So annoying. Printed out everything again, just need to copy the Greencard again...then I will head to FedEx tomorrow and hopefully that will be the end of it.

I just sent mine two days ago through UPS and it wasn't priority mail but already arrived today. My husband asked USPS and it would arrive at the same day but should be set as a priority mail. Prices differed by $3, USPS more than UPS.

Quick question; where did you send it to when using UPS? I know the address is on the USCIS site, but several pages said to put the ATTN: I-751 first, which would be above USCIS. Do you remember how the address looked like when you sent it? The information I find is at odds with what USCIS is writing.

  3. Well, I tried sending it with USPS, but it was quite a journey. I sent it, but the ATTN - I 751 was in line three instead of two by accident, so they returned the mail to me because of a wrong address. At least that is what they said, but then it never came back to me. The tracking update then showed that it was sent to Phoenix after all - only to, today, update the status to say that they "refused" to accept the letter and it will be sent back to me. How can it be refused - it goes to a P.O. Box????

USPS is so frustrating to deal with. I will print out everything yet again and just use FedEx or UPS.

  4. Hi everyone,

finally time for me to remove my conditions on the Green Card. Got all the documents assembled, everything is signed and labeled, maybe a bit more chaotically than I would like - but it is all there. The question for me now is - who will I send these documents with?

On the i 751 page, they give two different addresses and the option of either USPS, FedEx, UPS or DHL. I want to ask you guys - who did you choose and what were the results? Did the documents ship smoothly or were there any issues? I was thinking about USPS as the probably easiest option, but I have had bad experiences with USPS in the past, particularly when it comes to receiving mail and packages. What are your experiences? Thanks!

Not sure of the answer, but I'm in the same situation.

I was interviewed on August 3rd and case was approved on August 5th. On August 20, I received a case update that said my card has been mailed. I'm still waiting to receive it.

Just got that same answer on the 24th. Guess we can just be patient! In my experience with USCIS, something mailed usually takes a week or slightly more to arrive.

Congratulations for your GC approval ! How long did it take for you to get yr GC approval from the date of your AOS application (I-485) and after how long was yr interview ? Thank you

Well, we just had our interview on August 6th and it was very short - like 10 minutes maybe?

  6. Hey everyone,

this thursday three weeks ago I had my interview and everything went great; about a week later I got the approval letter that said I should receive my GC within 3 weeks. I know I still have about a week or so to go before that threshold is reached, but I was just wondering how long it took for you guys - I am sure the pandemic does not make it any easier on an already overloaded government. Thanks! (cant wait to finally update my profile on here with all the relevant information from the past two years lol)

I don’t remember what I filed because I always have someone file them for me but I guess I’ll be doing an amendment if that’s the case. Oops.

Ohh yayy sounds amazing. May I ask what paper they actually did ask for ? Just so I know what I may need. Please and thank you. I’m so excited for you. 😊👏🏻

He just took the lease and our pictures and without even really looking at them said that's all he needs, your documents are complete, you guys are good to go. :)

So you filed "Married Filing Separately"? Just making sure you didn't file as "Single" because you were already married on 12/31/19.

    https://www.irs.gov/publications/p501#en_US_2019_publink1000220731

    Considered married.

You are considered married for the whole year if, on the last day of your tax year, you and your spouse meet any one of the following tests.

    1. You are married and living together.

    2. You are living together in a common law marriage recognized in the state where you now live or in the state where the common law marriage began.

    3. You are married and living apart but not legally separated under a decree of divorce or separate maintenance.

    4. You are separated under an interlocutory (not final) decree of divorce.

Yes. :) Just got done with the interview. He went over all the basic questions again (are you a criminal etc.), We gave him the lease and pictures of us and the wedding. He asked when we got married and I accidentally gave him the wrong date (thought he asked for the celebration, not the actual certificate date). Asked how we met and we told him the whole story. He said "awesome I gotta Google this app" and then after we gave him everything he was like "Well, I got everything I need. Let me escort you guys back and you're good" :)

he didn't even take a look at our birth certificates.

Absolutely.  The government is looking for proof you have a true marriage.  Everything you do to mingle your lives together is relevant.  Placing your spouse on your health plan after marriage, making them the beneficiary to your life insurance policy or retirement plans.  Especially as he has stated that they have not opened joint accounts or have the ability to show they filed jointly.

We did discuss adding me to her health plan, but just did not get around to it yet. I hope we will be fine though. We are leaving in like a hour and I will update once its done :)

I was wondering how this worked myself. Due to I don’t have as much evidence. We have a bank account together and the power is in both of our names. I’m not sure I’ll have anything else. I didn’t put him on my taxes either for 2019 because he came in like October so I was told not too. Let us know how it goes I wish you luck with it.

Thanks! I heard that most of the time, they aren't quite as strict in the AOS interview because they mostly understand that coming here, moving cross countries and often continents etc. means you won't have much in both your names anytime soon. Let's hope!

It takes 60 seconds for the IRS to text you a code, everything is online. Make the account now and you can print them tonight. It's easy.

Actually, I was just able to create a new account with texting a code. However, the 2019 tax return isnt showing up on there yet. Probably because of the delayed deadline. Good thing I checked, though. Thanks!

Well we tried some login data and apparently she did make the account a while ago but never activated it. It says she indicated when creating it to have an activation code sent, but I suppose she either didn't get it or didn't activate it back then. I can't see a way to change that method at the moment.

You can get your transcript immediately, and you'll have it to bring with you!  Go to  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript   Even if you submitted it in July, it should be available. You'll be able to download it.

Thanks for the help! Seems my wife doesn't have an online account though and it takes up to 10 days to receive an activation code. I guess I should've thought of this sooner.

Reading other people's experiences though I think we'll be fine. When it comes to remove conditions, we'll have much more evidence either way. Thank you :)

Did you file tax jointly? A joint tax return provides good evidence

We did this year, but we didn't file ourselves and the tax person she uses hasn't gotten back to us yet since the deadline was pushed, so we can't use it as evidence either. Last year I wasn't immigrating until May, so she was already done filing taxes by the time I came.

  15. Hi guys,

my AOS interview is tomorrow and we tried our best to have as much evidence as possible, but I feel like it is not enough. The only real proof that we have of living together is the joint lease, but because of the virus and some unfortunate timing, I have not yet obtained a drivers license (will later this year) and we dont have much other financial evidence to show off. We dont have a joint bank account yet, but were planning to make one soon, and other than the lease, we dont have our names on anything together. We have our separate phone plans, for example. Will I get into trouble? We have tons of pictures from the marriage and recent years, our marriage certificate and can talk about our relationship in extreme detail. Will it be enough? Thanks for the help!

My pleasure. US tax system is far more complex than most of our home countries. You can get good information on the IRS website... and it’s worth taking the time to read through the basic publications. Like immigration , it’s best to have a basic understanding even when you choose to use someone else’s services to file.

Yeah, that is what I thought earlier haha. That's why I tried to read up on it. Hope it wasn't too late. Well, her tax consultant will know what to do and what I have to send over so he can file us jointly.

Even though you do not yet hold a green card,  the IRS considers you a resident for tax purposes as you have been in the US for over 180 days in the year .. you need to file a return and declare your income ... hopefully you have both employment Authorization and a SSN.  MFJ is usually the most tax advantageous way to file. MFS will probably result in paying higher taxes.

    Thanks for the info!

I would start by asking you wife why she did not file married filing jointly.

She has a guy who does the taxes for her, and since I did not have any regular income, I figured there is no need to do a joint filing. We messaged her tax person now so I guess he'll be able to tell us the best course of action :)
