Did you input Texas Service Center in the second field? The second field is National Benefits Center for cases in the first row (e.g. "K-1 fiancé(e) (and K-2 dependents) whose Form I-485 is based on an approved Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)") of the following link: https://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

Yeah it shows correctly now. Definitely gonna go to the SS office then next week. Thanks!

Official processing times: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ "Form: I-765 | Application for Employment Authorization" "Field Office or Service Center: National Benefits Center"

6.5 Months to 8.5 Months: Based on a pending I-485 adjustment application [(c)(9)]

Odd, it said 3 weeks to 3 months for me. Well, I will see. Maybe it would make sense to get it ahead of time then :)

I hope that you purchased your travel plans on a refundable/transferrable basis. Adjudication of AOS petitions, depending on the processing field office or service center seems to be currently running over a year. Within the last  month or so, USCIS, upwardly adjusted the processing times for EAD/AP processing to six to ten (6-10) months. Obviously, there are a lot of upset and saddened people with these prolonged processing times. Obviously, both of these time frame announcements are hot topics for discussion in the various AOS and Travel/Employment Forums, check out the many recent postings.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

I havent purchased anything yet, but we will definitely make it refundable just in case it doesnt work out. If nothing happens until October, we will probably plan it for January or February instead.

As for the insurance, they insucre any travel for up to 3 months, regardless of residency, from what I have read. But I will most likely check again to be safe. Thank you!

  4. Actually, it may be better to just wait until I get my EAD, since the wait time for that is not nearly as long as everything else, and I don´t need an SSN until I work, anyway (my german bank account is still open for another 3 months and the green card wait time is quite a bit longer for my office), so I will just request one on the EAD.

Thank you all for your help!

If you are a K1 you are eligible to apply for an SSN (in your maiden name is more succesful) at your local SSA as long as your I94 has plenty of time left before expiring (more than 2 weeks). Once it expires, this option is void.

The process to apply for a K1 SSN usually takes place at week two after arrival to ensure your I94 does not expire during the SSN application process. Applying for an SSN this way is more beneficial as you can use it to open bank accounts and may need it to apply for health insurance.

Those two things are also good evidence of bonafide marriage at your AOS interview so if you did not apply for an SSN this way you may be out of luck for having either of those evidences.

If your I94 is expired you can apply on the I765 however that card will not be processed until after your EAD is approved.

If your GC is approved first, the I765 SSN application would not process and you would have to go in person with your GC to apply for an SSN.

Thank you so much. I suppose it makes the most sense to just get the SSN now, then.

There is no additional fee for filing the advance parole document, not sure why you wouldn't file it.  There is no way to know how long it will take to get the green card.   From what I  understand the average wait is longer than 3 months depending on your local office.  It really doesn't take that much time to fill out.  I would apply for it just in case it takes longer than you are anticipating for the green card

Thanks! I figured. Just another question: I can also request an SSN on the employment authorization. Does that make sense or should I just go to a SS office and get it there? I am not sure how long the wait time for employment authorization is and am thinking it might be a long time before I get my SSN.

  7. Hey everyone,

currently filling out all necessary forms, like my I-485 and I-765. Me and my wife are planning to travel to visit my family in early November, so I thought it would make sense to also fill out I-131 for an advance parole travel document. Online, however, I see processing times of at least 3 months, which makes me feel like there isn´t much of a point filing it, since the green card itself will probably take around the same time. Does anyone have experience filing these together and when did you get your travel document? Thanks!

    Regards

  8. Hey everyone,

I finally received my visa about 1 1/2 months ago, so off I flew. We had a huge ceremony with her friends and family, and this friday we will "officially" marry, just us, in a small courthouse.

I poured over the documents I need to fill out and send off after we marry, and I have a question. My fianceé already sent an I 864 for me as evidence to Frankfurt before my interview, as this was required. Now the AOS form tells me my fianceé has to send an I 864 again.

Do I really have to send a second I 864 for the AOS, or do they somehow have access to the first I 864 my fianceé already filled out? Thanks!

Oh, another question: The approval notice you have to attach as well, the I 797, has expired for a few months - is that important? It only shows that the initial process has been approved, anyway, but I figured I might as well ask.

    Thanks in advance!

  9. Î had my interview on tuesday. It seemed to go well, but they needed a tax return, so I sent them that the same day and I have been stuck in AP ever since. Several emails and they still can't tell me anything except "the document is under review". Makes me anxious as heck, but we can not do anything but wait. They also kept my passport, so take it as a good sign. It will now take as long as it will take, I am afraid.

CEAC is reliable but only after your case has been assigned a case number which yours has. The little tidbit of information that comes from CEAC has to be deciphered unfortunately. Here is what happens after your interview.

Just about everyone goes through this process.  Based on the discussions I had with the case officer he informed me of the steps to complete the processing of your visa:

the first AP is the immigration unit doing the paperwork for approving the visa

the first ready is a notice that they are finished and the paperwork is being sent for visa issuance

the second AP is the visa issuance people doing their own paperwork

the second ready is that the visa has been issued and is currently being processed for delivery

Then "issue" is posted and the visa has left the BIG house to YOUR house.

Once you get that second ready, it should be sent out within a few days, although we received our visa before any of the various websites that allow you to look up the status said that it had been sent out.

There isn't anything you can do at this time. You have to wait till your case begins to move. Keep your eye on CEAC for these steps. So here is what you are looking for:

When the Embassy is ready to issue a visa, it will change to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application"; at that time, you will know that you are a few days away from getting the visa. It will go from "Immigrant Visa Application" to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application" status and then your visa changes to "Ready" ==> "Administrative Processing" ==>> "Issued" status as well. These steps sometimes transpire over a day or even a few days. Some smaller Embassy's it happens within hours.

Sometimes, it might skip "Administrative Processing" and go from "Ready" to "Issued".

    Good luck

Thank you. I hope it'll happen soon.

Once your case has moved to the non-immigrant unit (at some time after your interview), it's fairly common for searching via your NVC# to time out. At that point, searching via your DS-160 confirmation # under NIV is useful.

Yes of course. I understand that. He was saying you can use your DS-160 number to search for your IV visa under the immigrant visa section instead of the consulate number, which doesn't work.
