Paul123707 reacted to apanch in Case Complete to Interview July 2019
Hi everyone!!
I had my interview today at Mumbai embassy. So happy to inform that my visa was approved!!
Questions asked were very simple but it was like a rapid fire round 😄
1. Who is calling you ?
2. How did you two meet?
3. Was this arranged or love marriage?
4. Who arranged it for you ?
5. When did you two meet ? Explain the timeline
6. What does your husband do for a living ?
7. What does he do in his free time?
8. What are your plans after reaching USA?
9. Have you been for your honeymoon? Where did you go?
10. What do you like about your husband?
11. What kind of food does your husband love to eat?
12. Have you been to USA before ?
She asked for wedding album and pictures from our honeymoon. She asked me to identify one person she pointed out from the album.
That's it and she said the golden words!! Congratulations your Visa is approved!!!
She did not ask for any call logs, chat logs, financial documents from me. But it's advisable that you should take them along with you
My interview was at 7.30am. I had reached by 6.30am. They started calling all the immigrant visa applicants at 6.50am itself and asked us to form a line. The security checked the passport and the interview appointment letter. After getting inside they asked to arrange the following documents
1. DS 260 ( the one stamped at the VAC appointment )
2. Marriage certificate and a copy
3. Police clearance original
4. Medical reports ( just take the white colored sealed envelope. You donot need to carry the CD given along with the reports)
5. Birth certificate and a copy
6. Two photographs USA VISA size ..
First an Indian officer checked all the documents and asked some questions like who is calling you ? , Have you been to USA before? Have you visited any other county?
A token number is give to you and asked to wait for the final interview.
Luckily my number was called second and I was done with my interview by 8.30am. It was pretty fast for me. People are randomly called for final interview. There is no sequence followed. It might even take 3-4 hrs for the entire process.
Good luck to everyone who are waiting for their IL and to those whose interviews are lined up. Just be confident and trust yourself.
Thank you everyone on the VJ community. Everyone have been of great help here.
Good luck!

@nyokie @Kartinee23 Congratulations guys! I'm so happy for you.
Now the waiting game for the interview begins. It's going to end soon and once you are in your partner's arms you will forget about these hard times you had to go through. Trust me, I don't even remember that I was given 221g anymore unless I really think of how the interview went. The interviewer I got looked super annoyed maybe he was having a bad day. He kept reading my grandfather's affidavit and my husband's employment letter while shooting questions at me and also typing. Such a multitasker 😅 I almost felt like we were having a rapid fire round at some quiz competition. 😜 He told me everything looks good, returned my passport, kept my documents, gave me a 221g and told me to drop the passport to one of the drop off locations when they contact me. After the interview, I was so lost and broken, i had no idea what to do. I read so many 221g horror stories on VJ. I didn't want to be one of them but they approved me on the 18th, interview was on the 16th. All I think of now is how amazing it will be to be able to live with my husband everyday without having to worry about flights or take time off. You feel the same soon. Some tunnels happen to be longer than others but remember there's always light at the end. You are so close to the end of the process. Good Luck to you and everyone else here! This process is not easy but worth it in the end.

Thank you @ShreebhagyaK9 and @M@K12. Your wishes helped !
Am happy to report that the Visa got approved, and she should get the passport back in 5 business days time. Everyone here has been super helpful, and it's been encouraging to read reports from ppl on this forum.
Am listing below her experience at the mumbai consulate for other ppl who are scheduled for an interview soon. Overall her interview was very simple, and they did not ask for any documentation / whatsapp chat logs etc (though ofcourse it is advisable to take all supporting documents with us)
******************************
You should be there atleast 30 mins before your scheduled time, like I was scheduled at 7.30am, but the queue for 7.30am was formed at 7am!
After that you go through security (no CD, pen drive or phone allowed, DO NOT carry the medical report CD, only carry the sealed envelope given for medical). After security, you will be ushered into a room, where they will take your documents, passport, original birth certificate + 1 copy, original marriage certificate + 1 copy, PCC original, DS 260 ( the one used for your bio-metrics) and 2 photos (US size)
They will check your documents, then give you a token no, after which you are called to the window, where you submit the documents along with originals and passport, there they will ask you for your name, spouse’s name and your phone no, and how long you’ve been married, if you’ve ever traveled to another country or lived outside India. Once that’s through you are made to sit and wait for the interview. People are called for the interview on a random basis and the entire process can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours
I went in around 7.15am and was out by 11am
Questions asked:
who has filed the case for you?
How long have you been married?
How many times have you met since your marriage?
Was it a love or arranged marriage?
Who arranged it? - I mentioned we got introduced through our parents, who in turn got in contact through a family friend
Details on the family friend? As in how do you know them? Do they live in the same neighborhood etc?
What do you like about your husband? Be specific e.g if you say honest, you are asked for an example
Have you ever been to the US? Which other countries have you been too? Have you stayed anywhere else, other than India?
Where in US does your husband stay? What does he do?
******************************
So overall very general questions - and no curve balls. Though I know that some people can get grilled, depending on the interviewer.
Will update our profile shortly as well.
All the best to everyone waiting for the interview !

My Wife visa is approved and wanted to share her experience at Mumbai.
Got there early and let her in 15mins before interview time. Question asked were, how did you and your spouse met? tell me why both families accepted and what did they like? who is in your spouse family? show me picture if you have any? other than that's it. went smooth and nothing else was asked. Very Happy and she was out around 10:30am
