He came over on a K-1visa in 2016 we've completed the 2 year Visa and he just received the 10 year green card some time in April 2020. I honestly  Looking back on it now we were actually on our way to separate because we just realized that we were different and he was so adamant about us working things out and that we were strong enough to be together and I kid you not as soon as that card came I was not even a part of the rest of the process, then I was told shortly after that that I needed to move on that if I had found someone else that it was ok sometimes things just don't work out. He's done everything to destroy this family and then started the physical and emotional abuse and then him recently telling me that he did use me and that he was told that if he had a kid even if he divorced me he would still be entitled to stay and there was nothing that I could do About it but honestly the only evidence that I do have is letters of concern from my neighbors ,my family, my child ,and friends that felt before that he was using me.  An account I setup on tik tok where he stated he was single  and the two police reports.

I know they can use it against me In a court of law and trust me if I  was faking this I would have never brought a child into this world under these circumstances including my child from a previous relationship.  It's just not ok to manipulate situations to get what you want and like I said the biggest thing is my son is hurting because he doesn't have his father and this guy never intended to be a dad.  He spends no time  nor any kind of  support he literally disappeared and  left me to pick up the pieces.

    Sorry this happened to you.

Just move on and let karma take care of the situation

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for any advice or thoughts you may have.  I am a US citizen that has lived overseas for many years, and have been living with my partner for about five years.  She applied for a US tourist visa three times, and was granted a visa on her last attempt.  We went to the US for about a month and departed as planned with no problems.

In March of this year, she was to have her interview for the fourth attempt, but her interview appointment was canceled due to the Covid pandemic.  Now it seems that the Embassy is opening for tourist visa interviews again, and she would be eligible to pick up that application again and have her interview.

Meanwhile, I have been offered a job in the US that I can't refuse, and it will require me to be in the US for 7-12 months at least before I can go work abroad again.  I regret to spend such a long time away from my partner.  I am considering whether we should apply for a K1 visa, but I understand it will take quite a long time for it to be processed.

One question is whether being refused for a tourist visa would in any way impact on the K1 visa application.  For the tourist visa, she must demonstrate a likelihood to return.  The Embassy may not look favorably on that since I am going to live in the US.  But for the K1 visa, it seems likelihood of returning is not much of a factor, and the newly married spouse can then apply for a green card.  Is that correct?

Does US CIS/Dept of State often refuse K1 visas and if so, what are the reasons?  (assuming a demonstrably legitimate relationship).

Thank you in advance for any thoughts you may have.

You will have no issues with applying for the K1. Keep in mind it's only 90days

Also keep in mind that you will have to be apart from your partner for a long time.

My opinion is to get a tourist visa and get married in the US if you guys don't want to spend time apart.

    What questions will they ask?

I'm a man.. anyone done it before can share their answers please.. I'm worried! Thanks..

In my interview they asked me questions about how did we meet, how long do we know each other, what is her current job, whether if i was planning to work in the states, when did we get married.

You can google the interview questions and go over them before your interview

I agree, not necessarily a bad sign, but the sooner you fill out the DS5535 the better.

    Good Luck!

Approval is not official until the status changes to "Issued"........the form means you will likely face an extended administrative processing time.

Not necessarily a bad sign no, but as stated in the post above: be prepared for some extra time.

Your status will be  Administrative Processing and there is no set time line for that. Could be days, weeks, months..

Its better you fill it out as soon as you can and give yourself some few months to get your visa.

I had to wait for 4 months after my interview to get my visa.I filled one too.

Thank you for responding i already submitted everything and waiting for updates

Call them today! it takes 5 days from Potomac to NVC and if they don't have a valid email address for you, it will delay.

I called on April 29 (randomly) and they received my case on April 22, USCIS sent it on April 15th. They confirmed the email address on file and I received case creation email on May 15th.

We are waiting to be scheduled for an interview now, it took us 7 days from the day we got the email to pay fees and submit docs to case complete.

I tried calling this number (603) 334-0700 and no one answered my call !! Is there is any other number I can call??
