They shouldn’t say what they think the officer wants to hear or what they think will be a good chance of success. They should tell the truth. Even a small lie can be a big problem when it’s a visa interview.

    Ok thank you

You are starting to sound really desperate to get them into the US. And desperation will only make it even more likely they will be denied.

They say the truth. It's really simple. Fill out form online, go to interview, answer questions. So simple.

    Ok thank you

For Pakastani nationals, the visa can be issued for up to 5 years (60 months). It can be single use or multiple use. The full term (5 years) and multi-use is most common.

Each individual duration of stay is dictated by their I-94 received at POE. This is often 6 months, but could be shorter.

They should state how long their particular stay will actually be. Spending too much time in the US is a quick way to be denied entry at POE and/or visa revoked. While a 5 month stay is allowed if they are granted a 6 month I-94, actually staying that long would likely raise questions the next time they try to visit unless there is a very considerable gap between visits. A general rule of thumb is to spend at least as much time outside the US as within it, with twice as much time outside the US being highly suggested.

Ok thank you for your reply. Also can you please confirm, while scheduling an interview appointment for my parents; should i schedule one appointment of my father and add my mother as a dependent who will be traveling with him? Or do i need to book 2 separate appointments?

And if 2 separate appointments than will they be interviewed on a single window together or separately?

  3. I heard visitor visa b2 can be granted for 1 month up to 10 years. Is it true? And what if my parents say that they want to stay in USA for 25 days and then come back, will they be granted a 1 month visa? Or should they say they want to stay for 5 months so that they get a 5 year visa?

Assuming your parents are still married, then I assume your father is a tie and supporting her (she lives with him in the house you mention?) so I would think if he gets approved then it is likely she will be approved with him.  Usually if one family member is approved and another isn’t, the denial will be someone like a young single person, not a spouse of the person being approved.

Yes they are still married. And live in the same house. And my father is supporting. So they need to show marriage certificate to the officer to prove their marriage? Or no need for that?

Presumably she has a share of the house property etc.

No. Its owned by my father solely.

Been there done that. The officer will not look at that at all.

    Hello there,

I had been in your situation before. My mom had been denied twice for a tourist visa. The first one I am still greencard holder, the second one I already US citizen. Does any of them effect her interview? nope. Do they give her mercy because she already apply for 2 times? nope. Do they even look at the documents she prepared (house certificate, pension, birth certificates of my siblings that still back in home country, and so on)? nope.

By that said, your parents can be as prepare as as they could but it really depends on the officer whether to refuse or granted the tourist visa. Oh and another downside of this visa, you cannot appeal.

There you go...$160x2 just fly away~

I do not want to scare you, but that is just reality. Tourist visa to the United States is the most random (and mean) visa that ever exist.

Oh ohkay. Thats really scary to know that. Can only hope that we get a good officer.

  6. Can anyone please guide me on below:

Im a green card holder. my parents are applying for visitor visa. My father has a job back in home country so he will show that job and own house and property as an intent to return back from US. But my mother is a housewife. What proofs can she show as an intent to return back from US?? Also they dnt have any more children in the home country nor any old people to care for. One of my sibling is in another country. Because what if they reject my mother visa and approved my father. Please help

Firstly, there is no sponsorship for visitors. Each visitor is assessed on their own merits alone. Your parents need no documents from you or your husband whatsoever. It’s their interview, not yours.

I changed the subject a little. Will they need family registration certificate to Prove that im their daughter who is in US thats why they are applying or not?

They are approved/denied based on their own merits and showing compelling reasons to return to their home country after visiting the US.

  9. Hi everyone,

also will they need my husband and mine marriage certificate since my husband will be paying for their trip and expenses?

You can go back to the SSA to get that taken off.

Ok. Can i do it online? Or i have to visit the social security office?

    8 minutes ago, Greenbaum said:

That's what a SS card stands for. Work only! With it and your green card you can now work.

    Ok thank you

Have you applied for AOS with EAD+AP?

Your current SSN will be valid only when you have work authorization. Your work authorization will be in the form of the EAD or green card, whichever is first. Once the green card arrives, you may return to the SSA and update your card, removing those words.

I have received my green card now. So means i have to go to the Social security office to get SScard updated? Can i do that online?

  12. Hi. I came to US on K1 visa, applied for social security card and got it but on the card it is mentioned 'valid for work only'.

so now i have got my green card. So what do i need to do regarding social security card? Do i need to inform the office of my change of status and will i be issued a new card or what? Also can it be done online or i will have to visit the office? And what documents will be needed?

    thanks

Thank you so much for telling me that! I am just getting negative things about it which made me worried. Would you mind sharing with me your experience and what was your visa category? Were you also interviewed in ISB?

yes sure. it was K1. Yes interviewed in ISB. Experience was good. They told me the same as they told you. Then I had to wait for one and a half month before getting my passport with visa.

Hi everyone, my fiance's interview was held on July 9th, but the system was down so they told him to come back on july 10th. He was interviewed and the CO was satisfied; he approved his K1 visa and told him that he will get his passport back in 2 weeks. It's been over two weeks, and no update from embassy. On ceac website, last update was on 12th July which put him in AP. After that, no update shown. What should I do?

Hi. You don't need to worry now. Same thing happened with me. They said approved so now hopefully you will get your passport back with visa maximum by end of august or even before. The status goes to AP and then changes to issued. So dnt worry at all, yours will change to issued anytime soon now.

yeah im hoping for the best. Today status changed from application received to Admin processing and status is non-immigrant.

Thanks to God. My visa issued today. After 2 weeks of admin processing.Today the ceac website showed the issued status in the morning. Also received call from embassy informing about visa issuance.

Be thankful you are both in non immigrant status right after your interview. My non immigrant has no status a week after interview and immigrant is in ap so I’m in the uncertain early stages of the black hole

One you see case updates it's because someone is "touching" your file which can only mean they continue to adjudicate your case. This is a good sign. But still, being in AP is different for each embassy and different for each individual. No one can say for sure. We can only share what we have seen and what tricks we have to determine where in the process you are.

Right. Hoping for the best. Thank you for your reply.
