I dont understand why people are making these waiver packets. The dos has already made a determination that spouses and fiancee's qualify for a waiver just need dos approval for sao. Certain consultar officers refuse to even take this packet and people are spending so much money on it. Some officers take it but its not really necessary unless you are requesting a medical expedite and even that is usually ignored.

When most embassies say we dont need a waiver packet what they mean is out of the 3 criteria for waiver you already meet undue hardship and national interest. Now we have ti wait for Washington to say you are not a threat. You could write a 1000 page waiver telling them you are not a threat and all youd be doing is killing trees for no reason.

Thanks for replying. We have been in AP since Jan 2018. So it’s been a year. Hopefully, this is good sign that his case is moving.

    Hello everyone,

I am here to share the good news. My husband's visa got issued today exactly 17 months after his interview date.
I hope this journey ends for everyone who is waiting. This waiting journey was really frustrating and emotionally draining for me, and I am sure it is the same for everyone who is going through this. But thank God, it came to an end.
I am on cloud 9 today. I am very grateful and thankful for this day. I hope everyone waiting gets to see this day soon.

    Thanks

    Hi All,
Update on the In-it campaign: A group went on Friday to speak with Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's legislative assistant. He said that the videos that have been made so far for the in-it campaign are super useful and will be used in congress hearings dealing with the ban. We are currently at 73 videos- and our goal is 100- we are so close!! The video should be less than 2 minutes (just over 1 minute is ideal). You can do it in anonymous mode where your video image will be distorted. It would be really great to get some more stories from other nations impacted by the travel ban (we have mostly Iranian). Please feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions or want more details.

Remember- things don't change if we don't make our voices heard!

    Thanks!

My fiancé was born & raised in Saudi. He is Somali, but has never visited also. Would he also be a part of this “exception”? Thanks....

Sorry didn't mean to say exception because that means something else in the context of the waiver

I cannot say how long your case will take. All i meant to say is just because one case took 6 months its not going to take the same amount of time for others. Less than 1 year is the exception not the norm. You could be clean as a whistle but sit in AP for years. But in general i have seen Saudi cases process faster. This is the third travel ban ap less than six months coming out of saudi that i know of so there are more. Given our current administration priorities this does not surprise me.

I actually think Salhasl has been the most logicaland accurate person when it comes spreading news about the travel ban. It is good to be optimistic, but it is very bad to give people false hopes. We all want to have our visas or spouse's visas be issued. My wife has been in AP for more than 7 months and there is still no indication when she will get it. So, I try to keep hopeful and optimistic that she will get it soon; but at the same time reality hurts! Numbers are posted monthly and they are not telling a lot of great news!

Anyways, I am still hopeful that things change in the near future!

Hello guys. Finally a long tough journey came to an end. I got my visa today. Thanks to you all and this forum as I have got a chance to talk to so many good people here. We all have helped each other as we are facing the same situation. My visa category is v92. My mother is my petitioner. My interview was on 20th sep 2017. They approved it but later sent me Ds5535 in email. It took 16 months and then in January 2019 I got an email for an updated medical and after 15 days of medical submission, I have finally received my visa. I have spent 6 years without my mom.. so eager to meet her soon InshaAllah. I can only say that dont lose hope, you will eventually get your visa at a perfect time decided by Allah. I was so depressed in these 16 months. I left my studies after interview, my engagement got broken due to some reasons and I was all alone in the darkness. No job, no studies and no support. I kept thinking abt my visa and used to check and stare at my ceac status daily even on weekends. I prayed a lot and Allah finally helped me. Please pray for me. I am praying for u all ..may all of you meet your beloved people soon ameen. Its always a light at the end of a tunnel.Cheers and Good luck.

While its great we are seeing a few visas issued there is no indication that the process will take less than a year for a majority of cases. This particular case was picked up by the media so I am not surprised it got processed faster. Ive also seen syria and yemen being processed bit faster. For iranians especially the december numbers are abysmal. Unless we start seeing 30 to 50 spousal visas being issued to iranians we can assume the average process will take an atrociously long time.

Just wanted to give everyone hope inshallah:

my husband's visa was issued! After 4 months in administrative processing. He will come to the US inshallah next week.

Keep pushing anyone around you that you can for support. This is the only way. Be respectful to embassy staff but follow up over email at least once a month. Talk to your senators and representatives. Get anyone who can to make an inquiry on your case! I have a feeling we were only successful because of sustained pressure over time, from media as well if you can! I wrote a personal essay and last week when things were being spoken about in the news again, I posted it on FB and I believe this had some part in it.

The whole process I am sure has impact on everyone’s personal life for those who go thru it. I need my parents the most right now to get our and my parents living life style better as we are working parents and would love to have our kids grow up around them. And thAt is just the gist of it. I had to pause my masters and what not and having parents all depressed worries you and it’s hard to focus at times. I am sure every one here waiting for their love one goes thru the same pain or maybe even more. All we can do is have hope and stay positive. The wait will end one day I am sure and when it does for those that are waiting, they will be smiling.

I applied for an Ir1 visa for my wife. Our case have been expedited through USCIS and NVC due to our sons medical condition who is in the US. We just had our interview at the embassy on January 6th 2019, and the officer told us that that all documents are complete and he doesn’t need anything else at the moment. He also said that my case will be rejected due to the travel ban (my wife the applicant is from Yemen) but they will review if she qualifies for a waiver. I said thank you for your help and left the embassy. On that same day I checked the case on CEAC and it said REFUSED the next day it swiched to ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. It’s been 6 days since the interview and they’ve updated the “ Case Last Updated ” a few times as shown below.

Have you inquired at all? Have you or your petitioner asked your local representative or state senator to send in an inquiry on your behalf? There isn't much that can be done but it's a good idea to keep your or your petitioner's local reps and senator in the loop about what's going on. Also if the date isn't updated doesn't necessarily means they are not working on it. Some don't get updated and once reached a certain time, they reach out to you to update medical and other documents..usually means that they are ready to issue the visa. Don't stress too much about it but make sure that you continue to inquire about your case every month or every 60 days
