My two year residency card was delivered today. Happy that the first phase of this AoS journey has come to an end! Good luck to all others on this thread too!!

I will definitely be hanging around here for a while as I am sure I'll need more guidance from this site in the coming years.
  2. Thanks

Congratulations!! Thank you for adding details in your post, helps a lot. Hope your card arrives sooner than the 2 weeks.
I just got my interview notice so starting our preparations. We frontloaded the application packet so not sure whether to bring same things again or new supporting docs since last year or both? But I’d rather be prepared like you did and have the officer not ask for it than leave anything at home.

    Congrats again.

Guys, we got on spot approval today!! No written proof was given, just verbal. my.uscis.gov is still stuck at interview was scheduled whereas egov.uscis.gov says new card is being produced.

Our appointment was in the afternoon. We got there about 40 minutes earlier and parked in their underground garage - costs $18 btw. We went through security (you can bring water but no food I believe) and checked in at the front. They have a nice and large waiting area facing west. We got called in 5 min after our appointment time by what appeared to be a stern dude. We followed him to an office where we were sworn in first. He asked my wife (USC petitioner) her name, birth day & place, address, who she lives with (she said elmers, my husband - & he laughed), my name, my birth day & place, if I had any immigration proceedings against me (she said no), if she works now & where, and if we have any kids (we said no). Then he asked me my name and bunch of questions from I-485 like if I was in a communist party or if I'd do terrorism here or if I've voted or have claimed to be US citizen, etc. As he was asking these questions, he himself knew how dumb the questions were so all in all, he turned out to be a chill dude. Then he asked my wife what was our story - she explained how we met for barely a minute and that was it! He did not go through our 7 lb binder full of documents and did not ask to see any updated information. He said he was approving our case and that the card should be mailed within 2 weeks from some facility in TN. The whole "interview" lasted maybe 6-7 min. Our IO dude told us that they do not provide printed proof anymore unless they either need more time or they deny the case.

We prepared a lot and I was a bit nervous/stressed tbh but we were relieved when he said "I am clicking yes on your case" and he did right in front of us. Overall, it was a great experience for us and we were glad to have been assigned to this nice IO. In our experience, he and everyone else we encountered in that building, were very nice and just doing their jobs. You all will be fine. Good luck to everyone!!

Note that not everyone has A-number at the time of filing; I didn't. I was assigned one with I-797. If you do, definitely include it. If you don't, no need to sweat it.

Got an email about half an hour ago saying "We have taken an action on your case". Logged into the account to find out that interview has been scheduled! Our PD was July 13, 2018.

Credit cards are known to have issues sometimes. Regular bank checks are probably the best way to do this.

We sent two checks: $535 attached with the form I-130 and another one for $1225 with the form I-485. It was cashed without any issues. Please do the same if you are able to pay using bank checks.

They took almost 115 days to respond to my RFIE (for I-864). They acknowledged the receipt of RFIE response right away in August but didn't update anything until late November when the status moved to "ready to be scheduled for an interview". So, give it some time... I am sure they will get to it.

This happened to me Personally back in the day. The best solution to resolve it. You need to schedule an Info Pass go with your spouse to the field office.
Tell the officer that during the Interview you were recommended for approval but nothing happened. If they refused to help you or they are not co-operative then request to speak with a USCIS Director or Supervisor. Explain to him the situation again.
It happened to me several years ago. I had big argument with the officers about it. Also , They lie sometimes and tell you , You should wait for another year or so.
Don't give up easily. Just schedule an Infopass and keep pressing on them with your US citizen spouse.
I did that and I got approval same day and the green card came in the mail 2 weeks after.
What happens sometimes. The officer who approved. He didn't post the approval on the system.
But the officers will keep misleading you because they are slackers and they treat immigrants worse than animals and beggars.
If someone just spent 5 minutes looking at your file, They will see the approval and post it in the system then you will get card production ordered

    Hope this helps

Forms: I recommend including I-864A (if combined income is needed to break the poverty threshold) as well although it is not needed if you file I-864 and you don't have kids
Income: you can but not necessary if your wife makes enough.
I-765: better to file it too, no harm in having it in hand and its cost is included with the I-485 anyway

To give you my experience, I am on J-1 and married a USC with no income (still in school). We showed only my income and even though we have no kids, we thought let's file I-864A anyway. For I-864A, I submitted all immigration documents (visa, all DS-2019s, I-94, etc), job offer letter, all tax returns, bank statements, and on top of that I had my department write a letter for me saying there is financial support until at least the end of 2020. Got my EAD and parole documents within 5 months I believe and now we are waiting for our interview to be scheduled.

I think the interview went okay. We were told we will receive a decision in 2 to 3 weeks. Fingers crossed...

Our appointment was at 8am. We got there around 7:40. Our number was called shortly after 8 and the interview lasted about 30 min. We were out of the building by 8:40.
The interviewer was very nice and professional. After we sworn the oath, she checked our passports then asked whether we brought new evidence to show we are still together. We brought joint tax return, lease, health insurance card with both our names, holiday cards from family, letter of support from my mother-in-law, photos, etc. She took the copies and didn't look at the originals. She also took the new medical form, form I-864 and supporting documents. She then asked my husband (the petitioner) basic questions like date of birth, address, current job, my name, date of birth, country of birth, etc. She also asked him what our home is like, a house or apartment, how many bedrooms, how many bathrooms. She asked me the same sort of questions and maybe about 2/3 of the Yes/No questions on the I-485 form. She also asked about my current visa status. I was a little confused as I don't have a visa currently and am working using the EAD. Then she asked us relationship questions, like how did we meet, dates, when did we meet each other's parents, who proposed, wedding, etc. In the end, she said that's all the questions she had for us and that she will make a decision after looking at the documents and we'll receive a notice in the mail in 2 to 3 weeks. We were handed a notice that had 4 check boxes. The second box "A decision cannot yet be made about your application/petition" was checked. The first box is "Your application/petition has been recommended for approval", the third is "A request for evidence has been issued," and the forth is "You must return to the field office to conduct your identity verification."

We had to do this for one year (2016). We gave our reasons in the additional information section at the end of the form. We also drafted a separate letter stating our reasons and sent it with I-864. On top of this, we attached the IRS tax return transcript which obviously said no taxes files for 2016. We haven't heard anything from them yet regarding this so we're hoping they are satisfied.
