John951 reacted to Chris Duffy in Wife's Friend Denied Tourist Visa Twice to Visit US from Thailand
Negative
Depends on the country. I have a buddy from Philippine, He spent 6 months in Australia on a Tourist Visa, and has been to many South Easter Asian countries either surfing or backpacking. Has land, has home, has money. Goes to apply for US tourist visa and they asked him what his purpose of trip was and he stated : I want to surf the California shore".
Denied..........

John951 reacted to DanielPlainview in Best way to send money to Thailand
Depending on how much you want to send, and how quickly/often you need money there, there is a no cost option.....but it's not really a "transfer". Open a Charles Schwab checking account, and get the ATM card. You must have a US address to qualify, but they will send the ATM card to Thailand if you request it upon opening the account. I was in Bkk and got the card, but I could just have easily sent it to our address there for my fiancee.
I think you can pull the equivalent of $1000 per day, and the exchange rate is MUCH better than I've rec'd doing a wire transfer to my SCB account, and there is zero foreign transaction fees. (Ally by contrast is 1% and I've seen as high as 3%) And although every bank in Thailand now charges $6 each time you use a foreign ATM card (except for the super premium accounts like Citigold) Schwab reimburses the ATM fees anywhere in the world. I'm not aware of any bank ATM cards that offer that feature. When I'm back in US, my fiancee keeps the card there, so if I need to get money to her, I do a free domestic transfer from my bank to Schwab, and she can go get the cash.
Unlike the NOA2, I rec'd my Schwab card (in Thailand) about 10 days after I submitted the application. Works great in our situation.

John951 got a reaction from rye_212 in October 2018 K-1 NOA2 ----> NVC
I think your probably doing it right but just so that's it's said, the birth date selected should be the person receiving the visa, not the U.S. citizen petitioner.
Also maybe try and different browser?

Great post, I sent NVC my statement to update the email address. Should I still call ? The email alerts won't give me my embassy number ? What else does the e-mail system not do that I need to call and ask about ?

You can call BofA and ask them to send you the monthly average off all your accounts for the past year on an official letter head. The letter I received also had the date I opened the accounts.

John951 reacted to LydiaP in Who to contact?
It's both. You just have to keep busy and not think about it (I know that's impossible). I hope that it speeds up for you soon as well, but I went through a pretty bad stage thinking it would happen for a long time and it kind of wrecked me. Just cling to your fiance, talk about your plans, see each other as often as you can, and hope.
You can try calling and asking to speak to Tier II, but chances are they will just give you what you see online (which is what happened to me). You can also try to get your local senator to inquire, but mine just kind of did nothing (they probably knew I wouldn't vote for them lol).

I'm sorry, I misspoke, I do not plan on having an official wedding or signing of any official wedding papers. I meant unofficial wedding ceremony/celebration/ engagement party.... but after reading those other posts I'll just wait till we get into the USA. Thanks !
I was under the impression that an unofficial ceremony/engagement party was ok? But why risk it right?
I'm just beating myself up now for not signing and dating my passport copies or the back of the photos...... ugh, so much paperwork.
