Hey Friends…
 
We’ve lurked for some time here on the Visa Journey and learned quite a bit from you all. You’ve given us hope, sometimes reason to (perhaps) be concerned, and most of all, reason to celebrate. Each passing day spent watching our fellow March filers receive their NOA2 notifications has taken us up and down the emotional roller coaster. 50 days, 100 days, 200 days, 230 days and nothing for us.
 
We didn’t use a lawyer. Was this a mistake? We didn’t provide documentation for the app we happened to meet on. Did we really mess up here? We didn’t write separate letters of intent to marry. Could this be the thing that causes an RFE? It’s stressful. But we remained hopeful. We dotted all of our I’s and crossed all of our T’s, then double and triple checked. One thing was for sure: we ALWAYS discussed our concerns with the process as rationally and calmly as possible with one another. We always supported one another through the long wait. We HAD to BELIEVE that it would happen for us. This is just too right for it NOT to happen!
 
But recently (around day 210) our patience began to wear a little. After reading your comments, I decided it was time to call to see if USCIS could give any information. They told me that I would have to call back later - that the process had been prolonged due to the volume of filers. So I gave them 2 more weeks and called five days ago. We became hopeful that, at the very least, SOMEONE would put their hands on our case, as it was “assigned to an officer for a response”. Five days later, on day 230, I was standing at work, got a notification on my watch that our status had been updated, logged in (fully expecting an RFE) and blinked several times at the words "Case Was APPROVED"!
 
As we’ve seen comments recently, we can say that (although it was in the back of our minds), as a same-sex couple, we do not feel we were treated any differently than any other couple. Nor do we feel we were expected to endure any more scrutiny. We just waited - a long time, like the rest.
 
With the longest part of the wait behind us, we look forward to getting on with the next set of tasks on our way to being together. And we want to thank you for giving us hope and sharing your experience! We wish you the absolute best and hope that every RFE, and every other case is decided upon as soon as possible. Have hope and believe - it WILL happen! Best of luck to you all! And now we wait some more, but with bigger smiles!

On Ted Cruz, 😂. Did my part at the voting booth today. I just hope we're not forced to wait long enough to elicit the help of a potential new senator. 😅

233 total; 21 since RFE response for us. They keep telling me it will take up to 60 days from receiving the response to get an action. Tier1 submitted an "outside of processing time request" for us last week  in which we got an email that said it will take up to 45 days for an action. So basically 60 days. No choice but to wait it out.
 
Asking my congressmen is not an option since I live in the good ol' red as can be state of Texas; our congressmen will have no interest in helping a gay couple with immigration. 🙄

seriously, we wre having all the patience till now and we actually did all the research before finalizing our package, so its even more frustrating to see useless RFE fr Passport photo.
and now again this wait game.

I can't help to wonder that but obviously can't do anything about it even if it was true so I try to not to think about it. There have been plenty of same sex couples approved but never know what "convictions" an individual agent has.  I've been told in other groups RFEs have been more around the 1 month mark for approval. Guess I'll find out in a week or so but resigned that if they decide to take the full 60 days, there's not a blasted thing I can do other than kick myself in the butt for not researching others experiences around dating apps before submitting the application. But it's too late for that so what good does that do? It's all quite frustrating. 
 
But on the flip side - I know some who applied when the processing time was only 3-5 months then had to watch that slip to 5-7 months before finally getting approved close to 7.  Ugh!

It’s been day 52 since my RFE response was received (August 31st). The website is still not updated that I was approved. A tier 2 told me a determination was made on my case on September 9th but it wasn’t showing as an approval. Meanwhile, my case is already at the embassy and we are about to schedule an interview but I still haven’t received an NOA2. 

231 days lads. 231 days. -makes room for 2 more on boat of ever sinking hope- 
 
 

Make sure u send certified over night mail. It's well worth the money to know it has arrived.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we finally got an approval on our case! I hope this gives people who are still waiting hope - i dont know if it had anything to do with it but we called quite a few times and asked for tier 2 and stated that our case was outside of normal processing times according to the uscis website and they had said to keep waiting till it was officially 7.5 months , but the last time we spoke to tier 2 they said theyd file an inquiry on our behalf and wed still be able to call if it was past the 7.5 mark, but thats just what we did out of worry- were not sure that that call had anything to do with the update- just pray and try not to lose your mind.  Thank you for all of the support on this part of the forum!

Ours was over the IMB and dating site. Given I haven't been approved yet so can't say for certainty that what I provided will suffice but I was told it should be adequate by others. I submitted a cover letter of course with three pieces of evidence attached
 
1. A screenshot of the app's description in the Apple App Store that emphasized the app's purpose was to meet people local to the user's city. 
2. A screenshot of the app's description in the Apple App Store that showed the app was free to use
3. The site's terms and conditions with portions highlighted emphasizing that no background checks were performed and that all content, profile data, and media are the sole responsibility of the user posting them
