It will probably take them at least 30 days to cash the check and then at least another 10 days to send out the extension letter. Filing ROC with 30 days left is cutting it too close to the expiration date, that’s why a lot of people choose to file when they still have 80 days left.
 
Don’t worry, you’ll get yours soon ☺️ next time you file for something just remember to do it a bit earlier because delays can happen (US gov right? 😏)

sorry but AP is a black hole, normally all AP cases are resolved in 60-90 days, but it could be days, weeks, months even years.
 
just have to be patent, the visa when issues will have an expiration date of 6 months from the date of the medical.
 
did they keep the passports? if so this is a good sign.
 
keep an eye on the CEAC when it changes from immigrant to nonimmigrant that means the visa is in process of being made.

Every petition goes into AP.  A majority of 221(g)s end in an approval.  It is a black hole but the 221(g) doesn't always mean the end.  

I know you are anxious, but honestly we can't begin to know the reasons behind why embassy take so long or approve some on spot and put others in AP, 99% they have already made their mind up before you go to the interview.
 
I didn't want to make it seem as I came off harsh because really I sympathize for you, I was in your somewhat similar shoes, but really I had no reason given he was just handed a paper for AP, that was the biggest unknown and through my life upside down.

You can, but you'll just receive a standard boilerplate response saying something like your case is pending approval due to security checks. 

Vinay.. just turn in documents to embassy what they have asked for... you will get your visa.. no they wont issue you another 221g.. its very common to get 221g..

@emillanger I sent in my passport  And Hank's right, they' can't mail it back if they don't have it in the first place 😅

Unfortunately,calling NVC is the fastest way to find out.

You're paperwork is forwarded to NVC for visa processing, it’s takes about 2 more months before it’s sent to the US consular
