Hey, i wanted to ask you if you used UPS or USPS? I used USPS and it arrived to the P.O box on the same date as yours, but i still have no answer. I wonder if that is because USPS doesnt deliver directly to USCIS and the mail needs to get picked up from the postal office.

Thank you and good luck on your case!

    I used USPS.

  2. We had our AOS Interview in Cleveland on 4/30/19 where the outcome was "recommended for approval".  We got the approval message on 5/1/19 via the new site and now everything has updated to card has been mailed as of today (5/3/19)! We were so thankful for a quick interview date since we were still waiting for the EAD (which is now not necessary with the green card coming). Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I have no words to describe how upset and frustrated I am at the moment. I received an RFE from USCIS that the local Court from my state forgot on final decree order to specify what kind of divorce me and my ex-husband have. So basically that document I sent was not valid without the specification. I went to court and fix it but (my mistake ) I did not notice they spelled my ex-husband name and DOB incorrectly, even though I gave them info correctly. I of course sent that copy without notice because I was just so ready to be done with this process. So I send the RFE back on 08/02/2018 they received it on 08/03/2018. Today as I was looking thru papers I have noticed the mistake the Court did. I went to court again. They blamed it on me that I was not attentive, and I should have checked it. Now I am demoralized. USCIS will deny my case with no doubts.  I have been crying all morning. I called USCIS and they said I can try to send them a real copy but they cannot promise anything. I am just tired and terrified. I never felt so helpless.

I am sorry for this road block on your journey.  Stay positive and hopefully it will all work out for the best.  Hugs to you!

    NOA1: Dec 26 ,2017

    RFE: Jul 27, 2018

Hello all, we just received an RFE today :(. We missed a checkbox under Part 3. 4a (have you ever been arrested..etc).  The RFE stated to, "Compete the item(s) circled in red on the attached copy of the petition and return with your signature and date. If any item does not apply, write "N/A".

We are completely confused as to where my fiance should sign and date on the petition as it does not indicate anywhere for him to sign/date. I have seen somewhere on this forum similar situations as ours but they had a section for them to actually sign and date. We weren't sure if he should've signed/dated directly on the corrected petition in a blank spot near the bottom, so he ultimately put it on a sticky note and attached it to the corrected petition. I'm wondering if this is acceptable?

Thanks in advanced to anyone who is able to clarify or had this similar issue.

For my RFE, I missed a box.  After checking the box, I signed and dated it directly below my response.  We were approved a few weeks after returning it.  Maybe call to get clarification in case you need to resubmit?

Checked the new website this morning and we've got an RFE...I know this is better than not hearing anything, but it just feels like yet another step backwards

    NOA1-Dec 26

RFE-Jul 12 (not sure why the website didn't reflect this until today)

Can you call anyone to find out what the evidence is, or do you have to wait for the letter itself??

You will have to wait for the letter, but hopefully it is a quick fix.  It took 5 days to get my letter and I was able to return it the same day (I forgot to check a box).  They received our RFE on June 26th and we got approved July 6th.  Hang in there! Not much longer!!!!!

What did the doctor's office tell your fiancé? I was checking the website of one of the embassy doctors and it says that the medical results can take up to 3 weeks (bc of the gonorrhea test) and the embassy site says it takes up to five weeks. I honestly doubt that the medical exam results will take months, especially since they are charging in dollars

You can find the link here: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/CRS - Caracas.pdf

He called and spoke with the doctor in Maracaibo.  He told him that once we get approved to schedule the medical exam.  It's looking like the average number of days from approval to interview is 80-95 days so I don't think waiting to get the medical results will be a problem.  The doctor didn't indicate that the results would take a long time.

  7. 54 minutes ago, Naes said:

IT is usually from the result date not the exam date I think. so it wouldn't affect.

are you sure it takes 1 month to get the results? (or is it because of the situation of the country right now... hope it will resolve fast..)

IF the medical is clean you have 6 months to enter (I'd suggest as early as possible because then you will have ads to do and you can use the same results if its within 1 year)

If the medical had some attention points on your health it goes down to 3 months.

Ok, good to know! Thanks for the information.  The situation is so bad in Venezuela right now that it makes this process so much more complicated (14-16 hour power outages most days, not much food and limited medical supplies).  I will have my fiance call to try and get a better time frame for when to schedule his medical.

Yes, I checked with the embassy and also call one of the doctors (There is only 2 in Venezuela).

The doctor told my fiance that in Venezuela the results can take more than a month an the sooner the better because sometimes they do not have the equipment and have to wait for months for results. Also, the police records are online thought a website which is really hard to reach (Is always down :( ) but, the police records and Venezuela are good for a year.

Thanks for this information. I also read that the medical results can't be older than 6 months when you enter the USA.  I wonder how this time limitation impacts the medical records from Venezuela when it can take so long to get the results?

    He is absolutely right!!

I'm venezuelan and I haven't been back myself and not planning to do so ever if things don't change. I left in 2012 and things were pretty bad but not as bad as is today. Thank God my immediate family lives in Spain since 2010, and I have a few cousins and uncles in other countries of latin america. Only my bff is the only friend living there and she will be out by june.

My then fiance (now husband) went to my interview for moral support although he got interviewed (probably 2-3 questions) but having your fiance there doesn't improve your chances of getting approved, I mean it might help a little but it doesn't make a world of a difference. But I would honestly stay away from Venezuela.

My husband visited me 2-3 times but I was too nervous to have him there...he is blond white and blue eyes so didn't blend it at all

I know how hard the waiting period can be and trust me, after 6 years we still remember very vividly everything that we had to go through and all the time we had to be away. We used to see each other every 3-4 months and everytime we had to say goodbye was very sad. But I also can assure you, this whole process made our relationship and marriage stronger. This is the type of thing that can tear each other apart or make you guys grow closer. Even after 7 years together and 6 years of marriage, that same commitment keeps getting strong.

But let me tell you, nothing beats the day when you can actually run into each other arms and be finally together forever. You day dream with that day so much and for so long that when it actually happens, you cannot believe it and it will take you a few days to actually process it hahahaha. I can assured you, everything you guys are going through is going to be SOOOOOO WORTHYYYY!!!!.

As a matter of fact, the day I moved to the States with him, is one of only 3 anniversaries (we celebrate our wedding anniversary, our dating anniversary and the date I moved to the States) which coincidentally was last friday, April the 20th (2012).

So just hang in there and try to remain positive especially for him

This brings me so much hope and encouragement! Thank you!!  It brought tears to my eyes!

    Hi,

Thank God I found this. I am also the petitioner and my Fiancé is currently living in Venezuela. We used to meet in Aruba as well but this month we are meeting up in Cuba for a change of scenery. We filed in Feb because it took forever for him to get all of his information together and mailed her because the lawyer wanted the originals and things notarized. Since I have never been to Venezuela, due to it's current situation, I am trying to decide if I should travel there for the interview, once we schedule it, to give us a better chance. What are you guys thinking as far as the interview. He was previously denied a visa because he did not own land there. I am also considering just visiting Maracaibo in August to officially meet his family. My friends and family all are against me traveling there but they also aren't in this situation. Ps I am originally from NJ

My fiance is in Maracaibo and we have met in Aruba due to the proximity and the cheap cost to fly there.  Thank God the border recently opened again.  My fiance does not suggest coming for the interview with everything going on.  He said they will target me since I'm American.

It's so hard being here and feeling so helpless.  He just told me they are going on 14 hours without energy :(  This process is hard, but when our loved ones are in Venezuela, it's even harder...and getting harder by the day for them there. :(:(:(

When we began this process I had no idea that there were so many others going through the same thing! I'm so thankful for these forums.  So much helpful info and comfort.  I'm curious how others met their fiance.  I'm from Michigan, Kevin is from England. And we met playing online yatzee!

I'm so thankful to have others to go through this journey with.

Hello!!! I agree, it's so nice to connect with others going through the same thing.  I am from Ohio and my fiance is from Venezuela.  We met singing online through an app called Smule :) Thank God for the internet, right?!

    Hi Everyone!

I'm Vivianna, but you can call me Vivi :D

I filled on 12/01/2017 for my fiance who is in Venezuela.

We got our NOA1 on December 5.

I haven't seen him since January 2017 :( because he doesn't have a Visa and, my job doesn't let me travel to Venezuela for the lack of medication an public security in the country.

We know each other since we were 12 years old, I'm 23 right now.

Thank you for reading me :)

Hello!!  My fiance is also in Venezuela.  I also haven't been able to travel to Venezuela either so we meet in Aruba.  Our first trip was Jan 2017 and the 2nd trip was Feb 2018.  The borders are now shut between Venezuela and Aruba so at the last minute he had to fly to Panama and then Colombia to get to Aruba.  Thank God it worked out. I'll be following your journey and I wish you all the best (our NOA1 dates are similar).  I know how hard it is having your other half in Venezuela!  Hugs to you!!!!
