NewlyNaturalized reacted to e&e4ever in Requested a watermarked 18 mth extension letter
Dec 2017 filer- Initially I received a “courtesy copy” notice dated 06/17/18. On Sep 6th I sent an e-request explaining that I had received a courtesy copy and not the official watermarked notice. Sep 12th I received a response that it would be mailed to me, and today I received that watermarked copy in the mail.

That's a precursor to the actual letter. I was a little worried with mine to but a week later I received my actual letter. The actual extension letter will have the statue of liberty on it.

NewlyNaturalized reacted to BigEZ in Traffic Misdemeanor - Whether & How to Report on N400 App
Just so you have another data point, I answered "no" in my N-400 application and when the IO asked me the question during my N-400 interview, I said, well do traffic citations count and she said yes. So she changed my answer to yes and asked me some details about it such as when, what and amount of fine. She said my offenses were fine because they were just speeding tickets. But she did mention that if it was something serious and counted as a misdemeanor, it could be grounds for denial (depends on the specific case of course). So I would recommend that you check with a lawyer before filing your app.

Does it  make sense to have a new topic where those who are really getting transfer notices in the mail post their info? Then it would be a lot easier to see if there are any trends as to who is getting transferred. Versus having one or two people saying it in multiple different threads.

Wow sounds to me like they lost a whole stack of files from Nov 2015 and just recently found them!

Good afternoon folks, well on a different forum with regard to ROC filing there is a lot going on, people getting notifications, probably with that weird number, others cases have been transferred to Texas and such.  Here we have one transferred to Texas another to a field office. @Derwood  still a bug/glitch?!

News from my part, well I looked at inform delivery today, nothing from USCIS. Went to get my mail and there was my GC. No update on my status still says case received. No text, no email, nada. So Im sat here looking at it wondering where all the pom and ceremony went!  Oh come on USCIS you can hold a better GC party than that, its a tad disappointing!  At least I can take it to my bio appointment on Thursday, but I am not going to be the guardian of it, not a chance. It has to be copied for my N400 application, then its got to be taken to the bio appointment and i don't want to lose the third card, its cost me way too much. If I had my way it would be a in a vault, locked away with cobwebs forming. Oh wait thats our files!

Any way Guys may the Green (Pinkish) Dust be with you today. I am looking forward to your updates and approvals!

They just started working on October 2016 within the last 1-2 weeks or so according to people in that thread. So I think you can ignore the "as of" date, it's not accurate. In January they were working on August 2016.

So here's how I got on today at my local immigration office and ASC. I was after two things, biometrics and whether my case was really being processed there instead of CSC.

My appointment was at 9:45am but I was there at around 9:20am and got seen right away after completing security. There was a big picture of Donald Trump hanging on the wall. I was allowed to keep my cell phone as long as I didn't use it and set it to silence. It was a bit like airport security in that I had to take my boots and watch off, empty my pockets and put my stuff in a container to to be x-rayed.

The security guard at the front desk asked to see my infopass appointment letter and that was the first thing the USCIS officer asked to see as well as photo ID. He started smiling when I said I was an I-751 filer so I got the impression straight away that I wasn't the first to come in about the long wait times. He was friendly and said that he used to work at CSC up until recently and they are slammed out there. He looked up my application and said I'd filed 'the old way' and that they are looking to digitize the I-751 process.

I'll just summarise the main points from here. He told me that...

my case is not being dealt with at my local office and it's still at CSC since my case was acknowledged (back in Oct-17) it's not been touched and it's not been reviewed yet for biometrics I may not get called for a biometrics appointment, but if I do, my local office hasn't got the request for it yet - so hang tight I'll be waiting for another year at least for approval (that's March 2019) - he said that's based on current processing times the information on my case (I showed him what I see on my phone via the Case Tracker) being 'received at my local office' just made him laugh it was too early to say if I'll need to sit an interview but looked dubious when I asked if it's more likely nowadays that I-751 applicants will need to take this step I will need to come back in December to get a stamp in my passport, and that will probably get issued for a year. It felt like this was pretty standard and I wouldn't have to sweat it He was very nice and friendly, pretty much told me that I can travel and get on with my life, and wait it out. He said if I do get called for an appointment and I'm overseas, Tier 1's can reschedule easily.

So no further forward but I'm glad I went. I found the office easily and I didn't have to wait. It was a nice sunny day and the new pizza place just down the road was awesome!

Sorry to hear of your story. How much time passed between you meeting him and getting married to him?

You probably need to accept that you are going to lose quite a bit of money no matter what in this situation. Federal immigration law is totally separate from state divorce law. I would imagine that he is still entitled to half of whatever you made during the marriage regardless of his immigration intentions.  So you will either lose the money to him or to a lawyer in the end unfortunately.

I just want to point out that these situations also happen all the time between US citizens. How many people do we all know that got married, found out the person wasn't really who they thought and had a nasty expensive divorce? Probably you know more than one. It can happen to anyone. So don't beat yourself up too badly. Next time you find someone, really take your time and get to know them/live together for at least a couple of years before getting married.

On the flip side, there are immigrants who come with good intentions in a marriage to a US citizen, and those US citizens completely take advantage of them. I've read cases where the immigrant followed all the rules, did everything correctly, and got screwed over by their US citizen spouse making false claims to the authorities.

Check the October 2016 thread.. someone posted mid-February that they got an approval letter from their local office and a notice to do a 2nd biometric appointment. This post seems to have gotten missed, no one ever answered it. I asked them what happened, maybe they come back and update us.

I checked on the 26th and got an error message that the number was not valid (same as before). On the 27th the number worked and said my case had been received that day. I'm not saying that there isn't some kind of system issue, but if your theory was correct then I would have gotten the message on the 26th when I checked the first time.

It would definitely explain why there was almost no progress at the CSC since last November. I remember the processing time was showing around July or August 2016 when we applied and it's hardly moved forward since then. So that's about 4 months additional delay on top of the existing 1.5 year delay at CSC. Maybe most of the employees were packing up cases for transfer and only 1-2 people were left to do the approving? Although that wouldn't really explain why VSC kept approving at a pretty steady rate all along though. Unless they just have a lot more staff and/or fewer petitions overall.

The status change could also be some kind of programming error. It's true that the 797 notice numbers are coming online gradually and with different dates. Mine went from being invalid number to Case Received at Local Office from one day to the next.

Several people mentioned the Tier 2 officers spoke of having 2 different systems they look in. I'm thinking the biometric number is the number for one system, and the 797 number is for the other system. Before now the other system status updates were not available for 751 filers, although they are available for other types of apps like 485. It could be that they are simply enabling the applicant to view the updates in this second system and somehow the wrong message is being shown as part of that process. There is some stuff on their website indicating that they are trying to get more online functionality available, like they are now allowing filing fees to be paid online with a credit card.

Anyway, who knows! Will be interesting to see what happens.

Edited to add: it also fits in with people hearing that there are going to be more interviews and people getting unannounced home visits from local officers which seems to be a new thing
