Removing Conditions from Social Security Card

Good afternoon, all, if someone can give me some advice on this, I would really appreciate it.

Hubby still has Work Authorization blah blah on his Social Security card, AND we are in the process of ROC, we have the extension letter, can we apply for an untrestricted card with this information.  He went to the office today but instead of asking for conditions removed..I believe he got confused and asked for a new number.  His employer said that this present card is no good and can't work at the moment until this gets straight...I'm doing some research to see if he can apply with the ext. letter now, but for any of you on some insight about this..please let me know.

Also will the SSN give him something to prove it's been taken care of if we can?

Next time go with him so there is no confusion. Even with a conditional GC he shouldn't have the verbiage on his SSN card anymore. I assume he had a EAD before and got his SSN with that? Also the SSN card is good still no matter that the employer says. The extension letter gives a permanent resident authorization to work.

When I got my EAD I automatically applied for SSN since I got hired a week after I got my EAD, on my social it has the work authorization word from DHS, but when I got my conditional GC, I went back to SSA to have it removed the authorization from DHS verbiage and they remove it and send me the new SSN card with the same social number without the verbiage.

 

Do you still have the his expired green card? If yes bring it with you with the extension letter and request to remove the verbiage from his SSN card, they will honor that since he is now permanent resident. 

 

If they refused it then your second option is to make an infopass to stamp his passport with i-551, once he have his stamp you can go back to SSA and slap it on their face. LOL

Perfect thanks Lemon 23, I did do a little research and I think he will be fine, BUT just in case, how do we get this infopass stamp again, go to local field office I believe RIGHT???

Little immigrant, you are soooo right, I should have went with him..but I'll go tomorrow, he did have a EAD, but now has his two year expired green card with extension letter, we will go tomorrow and I'll let you know the outcome, thanks so much!!!

for infopass, they will accept you as walk in if it is emergency cases like if you will travel, but for requesting for your husband case you need to make an infopass online.

No, you have to go to the SSA office to request it.

LT Germany, I was on the SSA website and I believe you have to be a US Citizen to apply online.

I think I've read before that SSA won't accept the extension letter once the conditional green card is expired.. so I guess we have to wait awhile. Don't really need it at the moment.

Depends on the SSA office and location, some they do accept some not.

Yeah, I remember they do accept the extension and expired green card since I read it in one of the member here. 

when I got my social number for the first time with verbiage from DHS, my husband told me to visit again SSA once i have my GC to have it removed and that is what I did

because technically the social with verbiage has restrictions and since I'm now legal permanent resident my social card should not have the restrictions.
