Just about made it on this forum!
Application filed today (10/30), got letter that biometrics are being reused.
So excited!

Hello everyone,
I've finally decided to go ahead and apply for naturalization like many of you have. It wasn't an easy decision but I'm glad I took my time.
No news from YSC about ROC since fingerprints were applied back in spring of 2020. I'm hoping to hear from USCIS before my extension letter expires but that's unlikely (gotta love those routine DMV trips, huh?).
It's been a long journey but I'm thankful we all get the opportunity to live here and be with our loved ones. Keep at it y'all!

From today, I'm going to start using the case status webpage as well as checking my USCIS account. My account (with all the cases saved) has had no updates since 'Your case was received' but Case Status says 'Case Was Updated to Show Fingerprints Were Taken' - which I already knew, but I dislike inconsistency, especially during a process like this.
-
Anyone else got the letter saying their fingerprints were applied but USCIS online account case status still only says "Your case was received"?

i have been reading and following this thread for a few weeks now. i see a lot of posts from folks who did not receive their NOAs, and that is understandably frustrating . i am wondering how widespread the issue really is. it would be good to hear from the other side, so are their folks on here who did receive their NOAs? how long did it take you to get it through the normal process?
I filed 04/08 and got my NOA 04/23. It's really upsetting others are having so many issues with this, I imagine how stressful that is.

I read march filers coming a letter too, they believe it’s information that they take your fingerprints did you check your case status if is that?
Case Status just says they've received my case. Hoping it is the fingerprints letter, I'll update later today.

Keep holding on, it's coming! ❤️

Informed Delivery from USPS says there is a letter from USCIS coming today even though I already have my extension letter... Worrying a little.

My spouse has paid for most of my immigration costs. I pitched in by selling my car during the AOS. In our personal case, there was never an expectation for me to be the one covering the fees and I have been clear with him about costs since the beginning. He knows how much everything costs and when it must be paid and we prepare/adjust accordingly.

You can sign up for USPS's Informed Delivery Service. https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action
We have been using it since my AOS days.
Oh nice, thanks!

Originally posted in the March thread, I'm clearly doing super well with the quarantine 🙄
I-751 sent on 04/08, delivered on 04/14. Check has been cashed and now we begin the multiple trips a day to the mailbox, LOL.
I had forgotten how much I genuinely enjoy putting USCIS packages together.

Posted on the wrong thread... Pardon me. I'll hop out now!

Save yourself some hassel and contact the citizens services part of the Portugal Embassy in Washington DC. They know about US / Portuguese requirements and and in your same time zone. You should be able to get everything done there.
Thank you, I decided to call USCIS to see what they have to say about names not matching but either way, I know what the process of getting the new passport will entail.

That is how it works today. Your flights need to be in the name on your passport.
You didn't register your marriage is why they won't change your name on the passport. They would also be able to do that at the Embassy in Washington.
My wife is Filipina and couldn't use her married name on her (new) Passport or other things until the Report of Marriage. Her passport also has her maiden name on it as her middle name. But it is not on her green card.
I have emailed with whoever deals with name changes in Portugal (the registry?) and they said it's simply a name convention and I will have to have a parent's name when I register. It's good to know I don't need that name on my green card and can go about life here. Thanks!

It sounds like you just need a valid Portuguese Identification Card or Citizen Card to nenew.
http://www.embassyportugal-us.org/instructions-for-passport-emission/
If you get a passport without your married name you can just keep a copy of your marriage certificate.
So my passport can be in my old name? Even when it's time to remove conditions and they require a current passport? I'm planning on getting the renewed Portuguese ID after I register my marriage in Portugal.
Could I technically travel with my current passport and reenter the US with my green card?
-
I'm a Portuguese citizen and got my permanent residence under my first name and husband's last name, as US naming conventions go.
While trying to obtain a passport in my new name, Portugal has told me I have to follow naming conventions in Portugal meaning I have to maintain a parent's name. With this change, it does mean new green card, SS card and driver's license right?
I'm basically having to add another last name.

Exactly my point. I will admit I took a loan for my wife's AOS because we moved cross country right after we got married. So finances were tight then.
We sold my car to pay for AOS. You do what you gotta do!

I completely understand the fear of the process going wrong. But like it's been said many times, if you do things right, you have nothing to worry about. Follow the law. That's all you're being asked to do.

I saw that poster and agreed it was a bit silly. But telling people they can't bring their spouses in America because they don't have enough income is Unamerican in its own right.
Agree. My husband qualified but only in 2017 was he able to have a job where he was not discriminated because of his race and finally given a decent wage.

We used Voip Raider for a couple years to call Portugal. It just requires you to have an internet connection (your end).
EDIT: It's free for Portugal but looks like you pay $0.110/min for Philippines. My apologies.

This is the email I got and got the letter about a week later.

From my comprehension it looks like you need a SSN to marry in Ohio. Can that be bypassed (it can in NC) or will OP run into that problem?
-
I was asked to give an address where I was going to be at when I booked my flights but wasn't asked anything at POE. My POE was Detroit, Michigan and I live in North Carolina.
Currently in the US with AOS pending, but potentially moving to Europe for 2-3 years with work...Can I postpone or do I need to start again? (merged topics)
