Hello everyone, I have some questions today.
We, just as every other long distanced couples are missing each other, we definitively know this is a quite long wait but we are trying to see if my fiancee (petitioner) could come, stay with me until NOA2 and proceed with the rest of the process in my country. I've read you don't need the NOA2 hand copy for the interview. And if we got an RFE she have her sister that can help up with getting everything and mail back the RFE response. Is this even possible? do RFE's require signature or strictly require the petitioner to do it?Our NOA1 is Dec 20th, 2017, so roughly 3-4months for the interview?
Additionally, since we are in a limited budget and can only afford one trip for now, we also have the option of her coming for a short trip and returning back almost close to estimate dates. And then I would go to the interview alone. Does anyone has faced difficulty or issues by going alone to the interview?Thank you.

Let's get over this September craze and I'll message you. Thank you.
That works, any time. And thank you, you! lol - I might not post very often, but I check the site a few times at day and know most of you all.

Sure! Not a problem.

Wait now this is interesting for me.
do you have a windows pc, a little bit excel knowledge and a vpn?
Hi, I am another who could help and assist on the scans. Perhaps not necessarily for August since @LarisaXoX is willing to do it, but for the following months, I am a December filler myself. I am also a computer-savyy (or however people call it
), I have Windows PC's, can get Excel and have many options for a VPN (depending on the location). Correct me or forgive If I am wrong, and if I am referring to the same script, but I read a discussion a few weeks back (June or July K1 thread) that maker of the script didn't make it publicly and passed it onto some members to keep an appropriate usage of it, so if you are not allowed to share it (assuming its the same script haha) that is completely understandable. Anyway, I am able and have the time to do 2 (Mid-day/Mid night) scans daily and also keep discretion/respect the creator of the script.

I'm a December filer.
But I've already been waiting much longer than any of you.
17 years.
Its honestly the way you word it, since the very beginning. As if is a 'right' for you to get to the US, and as all you've been throughout most of your life has been a long 'wait' to do so. This kind of wordings would give an IO a clear idea of what you could be after on this K1 visa. Good luck on your journey of reuniting with your to-be husband, however.

Got the acceptance text/email today! I entered our receipt number on the website just to see if anything would happen, and it worked! It actually says that our application was received on Dec. 29th, which is strange because according to USPS it was delivered on Jan 2nd... So my question is: Should I count days from today or from Dec. 29th, or wait until we get the paper NOA1?
Same happened to us, we got the notifications on the 27th but its shows as received on the 20th. Just count from the date they give to you.
-
Went ahead and tried ours case number, it worked this time. We even got our NOA1 a few days earlier than the day we received the notifications, they saved us a week.
. Anyone else that was having issues should try now.

Hi everyone. Maybe someone can help me out. I sent my 129F and it was received 12/11. I got my NOA1 12/17.. I keep going to look up the case status on uscis website and case number still not found as of today. It is almost the end of the month, is it possible it is still not yet in their systeM? just getting little worried but probably this is just time related... I just thought the case number would appear esp after NOA1 received and I got the hard copy.
We can relate on that, mailed the Dec 18th, notification on Dec 27th, not hand copy yet. When entered on the website, it says it is not found. Our start with WAC18XXXXXXXX. Fiscal year 2018. Maybe in Jan, 18 it start to show up?

Thanks for sharing your experience and I'm glad it worked out for you.
I would, however, caution that just because they did accept it in your case does NOT mean they will do the same in all cases. Any deviation from the instructions for payment may result in a rejection.
I see. Appreciate the disclaimer.

Yeah, you! Either forumn member or visitor. Are you pulling your hair, freaking out because you accidentally put "USCIS" or "US Citizenship and Immigration Service" in your money order that was supposed to be payable/pay to "US Department of Homeland Security"? I got you good news, they do take your money order with no issues with that incorrect name. You can now sit and relax! I can confirm as we accidentally did the same and other members as well. This thread is just to save you the research.
HOWEVER, I am NOT encouraging you to file with the incorrect name again either, this is purely to let you know that they will take the MO in case you already did. If you're about to file, take this as a reminder and put the correct name.In our case, we knew this before hand, and read in the instructions many times but still managed to accidentally put the incorrect name.

Ours was mailed today, seems like we belong on here.

Hi there,
You have a few options so here goes:
1) Have your spouse put you on their insurance after you marry either via a private plan or via spouse's workplace.
2) Purchase an insurance plan yourself through any insurer available in your state.
3) Use the federal exchange or state exchange if you have them. Open enrollment starts in November and goes until Dec 15th or so. You must have the required documents needed however. Your earliest document proof with be after you marry and file for AOS in this order (AOS NOA1, EAD, or green card).
4) Obtain a plan through workplace insurance once you are able to work.
Immigrants are certainly welcome to purchase insurance, and you are not disqualified from using the exchanges either so long as you have proof of status. Private plans certainly are the most easiest and generally only require a few pieces of info.
One con to using the exchange is that often the intending immigrant becomes confused, is given wrong info, or ends up waiting for whatever reasons to sign up. You only have a certain grace period of time allowance that you can sign up outside of the normal enrollment period. New immigrants, newly married, and those with certain life changes are allowed to sign up outside of the normal period under a clause called special enrollment. There is a great deal of uncertainness when it comes to the exchanges due to changes the current President has made. The grace period seems likely to be increased, but that will be for next period and not for this one. So I have seen immigrants wait too long past the grace period and try to sign up past the deadline and be turned away.
At any rate my suggestion generally is that K1s generally go with option 1, as it's generally the easiest, followed by option 2, provided you have the cash. Keep in mind insurance is expensive these days. Option 3 is the last resort one. The reality is the exchange is there to help certain types of people get lower cost health insurance, but the majority are not able to receive a subsidy which lowers your cost. The typical person will not qualify for it. The other reasons why I'm not a fan of option 3 is the redtape of dealing with the government which adds more hassle, and the fact the program is very unstable for the moment. The truth is for the average user that doesn't receive a subsidy and still uses the exchange, there is little difference between the plans offered there and what you can get privately (which is another reason why I like option 1 or 2).
Remember you don't have to have health insurance if you don't want it... and many of us go without it because the yearly tax penalty is ridiculously cheap compared to the cost of monthly premiums shelled out. But... for peace of mind and if you can afford it of course obtain health insurance that works best for you and the family. Travel insurance, temporary insurances, and those marketed toward new immigrants do not count under the law - the penalty will still apply. Another tip I'd have is that, soon after you arrive and before marriage is to check your I94 and see if you're in the database and then go apply for your SSN. You'll find it'll make the insurance process very much easier. It's not a 'requirement by law for insurance, but you'll find plenty of persons willing to lie or downright be obnoxious to immigrants who do not have it already.
It is not illegal to not have insurance. There are millions of uninsured persons in the US. There are plenty of minute clinics where you can seek treatment and pay out of pocket for illnesses. Hospitals generally may not turn you away, unless it is certain for profit-private hospitals. Keep in mind any treatment you seek without insurance will be quite expensive, and you never know if you should have an injury or critical illness. Having insurance together as a new couple is also a good proof of relationship for down the line. I added my husband to my private insurance plan shortly after he arrived, so we were covered. They asked little proof or questions beyond proof of marriage. He's healthy and fit, but a few months later we were in a car accident and insurance was helpful for injuries. We are now on his joint plan through his employment.
It's all up to what you can afford and if the pros outweigh the cons.
This is very very very helpful piece of information. Today I was coincidentally researching about the impact on the marriage for my future wife and cost of insurance. It seems like taking the tax penalty should be the way to go for us a while.

One question that arose reading this thread, and sorry for jihacking your post OP, but it might concern something related to you as well. While is totally fine to send an scanned copy. In my case I found a way to mail the letter of intent to my fiance in the US, the original letter. Is there any issue if there is a discrepancy in the dates of the letter?. For instance, mine (beneficiary) will be dated, printed, signed and mailed to the US a few weeks before my fiance send the K1 packet to USCIS, so her letter will be dated closer to the filing date. Or should it we both date and sign it the same day?

Without reading too much into the second paragraph, I think you are giving too much details. I could be wrong. I personally imagine someone reviewing your case not reading it all.

4. ..... However, I'm typing my form and it doesn't allow me to type N/A OR None in several places! I can handwrite the document, but I was wondering if other people filled in every single line of the form or if many lines were left blank.
If there is a field that require input and cannot be typed in using the computer, when you're done with the document, print it and then write those fields in black ink.
EDIT: Sorry, did not read the question properly. Spaces that doesn't apply to you, you can also handwrite. "N/A" or "none" too.

Thank you both of you.

I am sorry if this already sound silly, I already got some helpful advice but with mixed options, I am just trying to make sure we don't get any delays the best possible . What worked for you? Signed, Scanned and printed or mailing the original letter with wet signature?
The later sounds like the best option, however it is kinda hard to mail documents to the US (but is really easy to receive), specially due cost and timing.
-
I am sorry not meant to be judgmental as I don't know anything. This kind of situation gets under my skin, whatever happened to marriage? do people take it seriously anymore?
-
You're welcome. Once you get your NOA2 start getting the evidence as soon as possible.
-
They are brought to the interview, filled the closest to the interview date and with the most recent evidence.

As far as I know there is not limit now when you should file for AOS, but eventually (I think after the 90 days are over) the beneficiary will be out of status until filing. Until then it will further delay things like work authorization and advance parole.
